    2014-05-22 11:45:02 Malory Grey rolls 6 to Sportsing! (10 Again) 4, 1, 6, 2, 3, 10, 5 1 success

Coco had been working her socks off, keeping them in the game while Mal floundered at the back, her height and those pesky rules limiting aggression making her a somewhat ineffective defender. Seeing her team-mate flagging, she stepped up, sneaking in a cheeky few points that were unlikely to give them a win, but they at least acted as a salve to her dwindling enthusiasm for this stupid game.

The breeze rustling the tree branches and the animals cavorting in the park go unnoticed as they are drowned out by the grunts and heavy breathing of the basketball players. A bird, still recently returned from its annual journey to the south, alights on a nearby park bench and appears to observe the competition with interest. Sensing movement nearby, the creature directs a short chirp at an approaching squirrel before flying off. The squirrel scampers across the grass, navigating the park with ease. It acts almost as if it owns it, knowing every contour of the ground, every whisper from the trees. It leaps here and there until making it to a particular tree which overlooked the basketball court, spiraling up its surface before settling on a certain branch. For the first time in many months, it was content and free. Watching the game with keen interest, its tail flickered now and again. If squirrels could smile, it would be.

Please continue. You should be wrapping this scene up soon.

While teamwork between the Hunterheart and the wasp-y Fairest suffers, the racoon and the wild Dancer cooperate well, gathering more and more points over their opponents who struggle to get over the lack of experience of the Beast and selfishness of the Fairest. The wild one feels like she's out for blood, hunting and flanking and outwitting the prey...

Yet, she's not pleased, for some reason, and she smiles less and less.

It's wrong, she feels. It's like stalking some inferior prey (what kind of prey?) that tries to run but is confused and isn't sure how to run. The other hunter (Hunter? Player) is good and it's easy to corner the animal... Too easy.

The Fairest almost loses her willingness to win by the last point she manages to get. Yet, she remembers what she said. 'The respect is in going all out.' So she tries and pushes herself as far as she can. Even if she's not happy.

    Morgan&Huntress 7:4 Mal&Coco for Teamwork Dex+Ath phase.

For the sake of speed, let's just count the Dex+athletics rolls, name Morgan and Huntress the victors, and then each post an ending post. Awesome scene! We should do another soon!

Coco stared at the net, panting, hands resting on the top of her head. At first displeasure was written across her face but then she turned away, walked two steps and turned back, arms held out, silently requesting the ball. When it was thrown to her she spun it between her fingers, enjoying the friction on her skin. She'd lost. She'd bragged, she'd played hard, and she'd lost. But then again, she'd had the handicap. Sure, the others had won, but they hadn't won playing with the absolute beginner! So ha! Victory might be theres but it wasn't a complete victory. That thought cheered her and a grin broke out across Coco's lips. So the game was lost, so what? There were more things than points at stake here.

"Well! What a game! I'm a bit famished after all that running. Anyone else up for taking a repast? It'll be my treat! Just don't order the lobster,"
she joked, winking to the other changelings.

Morgan wiped her brow of the sweat that had built up there, taking in deep breaths. The height difference meant she had to make up for it with speed but she had done that. Her hair was less pretty then it had been at the start. Those hairdressers would be horrified at what became of their work. But who cares about hair, they won! "Heh-fun game!" She gave a thumbs up to Huntress, "Waz fun and fair, you know how play good, heh-heh."

She then waved to Malory, "And-and you did good too Malory for-first-time playing. New things are always tough b-but you did well for-ah first try." The wolf's inexperience along with the level of skill shown by the opposing side was probably the deciding factor. Coco didn't seem to have the skill level needed to make up the difference. Though the offer of...repast was food, right? Yeah, that was nice. Certainly better then how things had started. To think I was thinking of throw-stab Ahawi earlier...eh, not too bad just kinda mad. Seem sane-no-no-no mad ANGRY not mad CRAZY. But why boss a lobster?

Morgan opened her and cranked the engine: "Why wooo--oh-heh-heh, right-right, shell-fish-food got it, never-mind-wasn't-thinking-anything-stupid, no-nope." She shut her mouth tightly and eyed the other three. The Beast wished her mouth didn't move faster then her brain so much. "Y-yeah Imma good totally-wasn't-thinking-dumb-stuff, and quite fine-good to go-leave whenever, heh-heh. Oh, you did well too Coco, heh."

The competitiveness of the four changelings just enjoying a bot of sport was a sight for sore eyes, one that bred both friendships and rivalries, yet overall strengthened the freehold as a whole. The squirrel watched the end of the game with great expectation and before the changelings headed off, it scurried down the tree and headed further into the park, towards the rose garden.
