Seeing Tally struggle while trying to tend to her own wounds, Marcus pulls out his own first aid kit and tries to assist the beast, but the elemental isn't sure if he actually helped her or not.

Once they arrive at the center of the desolation, Marcus keeps his eye on the perimeter of the abandoned base camp as he strides toward the hunk of metal. Pulling a plum out of his rucksack that looks like it's seen better days, he forces himself to gulp it down. Feeling the glamour course through him, Marcus feels more prepared to deal with any more unexpected threats that may jump out at him.

Marcus consumes the fetch trifle and completely refreshes his Glamour Pool.

Stripes grunts his approval as his injuries are tended to. For now, it'll be enough. The Paladin is happy to just follow Marcus, keeping an eye out as they move through the Hedge. When they arrive at the strange camp, Stripes joins them in their pause. His eyes, however, travel to the twisted lump of metal in the center of the whole place.

"Um, Marcus?" Stripes says in a whisper. "I know you thought about going home but... doesn't that kinda look like an engine?"

The tiger is probably pointing out the obvious. Still, it seems worth bringing up the possibility.

Marcus gives Stripes a sideways glance as he continues his approach.

"It certainly does, doesn't it? So much for heading home. Looks like Fate has other plans for us after all."

The mention of Fate inspires the elemental to take advantage of the pishogue he had placed over each of them when they swore their pledge. The reflection of a warm hearth fire dances over Marcus' shining skin as he feels the boon take effect.

Marcus uses his Boon: Pishogue(Favored Fate) for his next attempted action.

Tally takes a look around the camp. Looking about upon the ground, she observes the debris. At the mention of the Engine, she walks slowly towards it, stopping within five feet of the item studying the appearance of the metal item.

Pulling the nylon straps out of his rucksack, the metalflesh secures them around the engine as best he can before calling on Summer to lend him its strength.

Stripes slides along behind the other two, keeping a wary eye on their surroundings. Granted, it's a large lump of iron, but it still feels almost too quiet. His mantle growls warily, unsure if everything else has left... or if something just wants them to think that.

If the coast is clear, the elemental tries to wrap the straps around his torso in order to use the borrowed strength of Summer to start dragging the heavy hunk of iron out of the hedge. Marcus gestures for Stripes to take point and lead the way, then motions to Tally that she should watch their back. Keeping his eyes open for a gate back home, the metalflesh lets out a tremendous grunt as he starts to pull the engine block forward.

The camp truly is as dead as it at first appears. Perhaps deader. Nothing moves to stir the air in this desolate hollow. It has been truly abandoned, and not even the vigorous hedge-foliage is keen to return just yet.

As Tally moves closer to the iron polluted pit at it's heart, she can see a gaunt, anaemic corpse, much like the others except blessed with a hat that would be the envy of any Communist dictator, crushed at the hip and pinned to the ground by the fallen block of metalwork which appeared to have fallen from some collapsed assemblage of cradles and wheels.

Radiating the heat of the sun, Marcus' muscles strain and bulge as he heaves the twisted mass of metal from it's resting place - the straps cutting into his shoulders, but the weight causing him little difficulty once he has heaved it from the depression in which it has sunk. He finds however that if he pauses for too long, the ground seems to sag and sink below it once again.

Enlivened by this observation, and no doubt a general lack of desire to remain in such a desolate charnel house, the intrepid threesome, literally in the case of their leader, ploughed on through the Hedge. The combination of a Hedge Warden, and that much Iron makes even the most narrow, treacherous pathway relatively safe - though the surrounding foliage does seem to creak and groan in frustration as they pass by un-assailed.

It takes a few hours of trudging, for they had travelled long and far in their search, but following a Hunch, Marcus lead them on, until they emerged, blinking into the setting sun, sinking low towards the horizon as with a rasp and a heavy thump, the mangled remains of Marcus' engine tumbled out of the trunk of the rusted hulk of an SUV the gate had opened out of, as on the fair side of the junk-yard, a faint sound of barking could be heard.

    The End.

Whew! Thanks for playing guys. Not quite what CW asked for, and it ran on a bit, but I hope you at least enjoyed!

Feel free to take the after-party drinks to Beyond the Hedge or Lost, you don't have to go home but you can't stay here!
