Eyes widening slightly at Mary's shout, Tinder makes an inarticulate sound as he rips the vines free of Nikolas and holds the writhing mass in his arms. Although the thorny tendrils appear to be somewhat immobilized for the moment, they also appear ready to break free of his grasp at any moment. On the other side of the hedge gate, Green notices that no one has followed him through the portal.

"Huh?" The mountain grunted. Somewhat confused, he turns around and head back into the Hedge. "Whats the hold... up!" Green takes one look at the struggle and something snaps inside of him: the creeping dread; the frustration at their failed expedition; and now this. The mountain charges with all the intention of pounding the tree...thing into the ground.

Combat Ends

Nikolas unwinds himself from the grasping vines and slips free. Tinder releases his grip on the hungry plant and starts to back away from the thing. As he picks up his sword and shield, the stoic man looks at Mary with an expression that might hint at his being slightly impressed by her.

"Quick thinking. I suggest we leave here while we are able."

One by one, the changelings leave the hedge and return to the relative safety of the mortal world.
