A meeting between a Deputy, the Herald and Albert

It certainly wasn't the kind of contracts he was used to - long gone were the pages of legal terminology, deadlines, quotas - this was different...and it bothered him. From his perspective, what he had been presented was clear...although these new terms of service were ambiguous and far too reminiscent of the arbitrary decision making from ancient times. Despite all of Martha's chipper ambiance Albert could not help but feel frustrated.

I have no choice. They could my life right here and now and no one would know. Or if anyone did find out, I doubt they'd care. Recognizing this was his new home for the foreseeable future, another casino proverb crept into his mind, The house always wins.

Sawyer smiled to maintain his good standing. He spoke with his certainty brought on by countless business meetings. "I accept your proposal, Herald Villiers."

With a cheery and friendly smile Martha nods and limps closer to Albert while extending a dainty hand in formal greeting, "Splendid! Simply splendid! In that case, we shall forgo the usually Oath...the terms I have outlined are identical in spirit, if not in words, to the usual form of words! Welcome, welcome to the Domain, sir!" she continues with obvious and sincere excitement, "If you have any questions...or you wish to report any suspicious activities in the Domain, please report them to anyone present here, sir!" a delicate gesture from her cane emphasizes those present.

"Thank you Herald Villiers," he rose to shake her hand. "Thank you accepting me into the Domain." He looked the Deputy and Bailiff and nodded. "Of course, I will do what is asked of me."

The lemonade Martha gave him was bubbling again. "Is there anything else that I would be able to assist in?" As stupid as it was to ask, he hoped they wouldn't take him up on his offer.

"Well..." Martha begins cheerily, "...I just hope you settle in happily, sir! Please take time to meet other Kindred in the Domain. I also urge you to make an appointment to speak with your Priscus at the earliest possible opportunity!" another happy smile. "I truly wish you well here, sir!" she smiles sweetly and pays close and happy attention to Albert. Leaning hard on her cane as she talks. "If you are content, sir...you are certainly free to go and settle into the Domain!"

"It's been both a pleasure and an honor in meeting all of you: Herald Villers, Madame Au Pair Sage, and Deputy Connery." Albert rises from his seat, pausing to signal his intent to leave. "I wish you all an enjoyable evening."

Albert walks toward the door, slipping by the Deputy with the utmost care. Christ, I hope he never comes looking for me... As timing would so have it, the fear instilled in him by Dillion's significantly more powerful presence caused the lemonade Martha gave him to creep up his esophagus. Trying not to lose face, he ascended the stairs steadily, while trying to exert control over the raging fluid.

He reached the top of the stairs and once clear out of sight from the officers of the Domain, made an all out sprint shoving people aside to reach the restroom.

Minutes later a more relaxed Kindred re-appears and exits Avalon. Damn lemonade... He hails a cab and heads home.

Albert exits the scene.
