Anya grinned and, as she passed, gently squeezed the Metalflesh's elbow. "Nice work," she commented softly, before rapidly stepping through.

It was a subtle change as Justin's expression and posture shifted from scared potential patient back to focused action protagonist. Inwardly he felt a twinge of despair as he wondered just how much of that was memory and emotion and what greater percentage came from playing a role.
Without so much as a glance over his shoulder at the distracting environment, the Manikin cyborg followed Anya through the opening in the Hedge. Whatever was waiting for them on the other side was probably just as unpleasant, but at the very least he felt that he had some control, no matter how small, on the outcome.

Clare gave a little relieved sigh as the gate opened, and, drawing her gun, quickly followed Justin through it and into the Hedge. The slow, sickening tension from being in the mental hospital eased out of her with the relief at understanding her role: Watch people's backs, work with Justin to take down shotgun-guy.
Rook held the gate open, glancing briefly back to Spartan and wondering why the King had insisted on bringing up the rear. It didn't make much tactical sense to him, but then that was probably why Spartan was King, and he was not. And it would be pointless wasting the time arguing.
He stepped through the gate, pausing on the threshold to make sure the Summer King entered alright.
The hard part is over.

The Hedge gate vanishes into thin air, closing down shortly after the group steps through it. On the other side, the Changelings find themselves exiting out of a huge tree trunk.
