Carthian Meeting

John did not take kindly to random strangers, who were mortals no less, walking in on their get together unannounced being mysterious talking about Employers (presumably Kindred) who had suddenly taken an interest in members of the Movement. If the message was truly meant only for Kaiden it would have been done in private, but no it was done at a covenant meeting in front of all it's members which was very strange indeed.

John's tone still has a bit of a casual tone as he comments on Lance's actions.

"Forgive our jumpiness Kaiden, the current state of our organization is a very tricky one, and we don't want anything to get out of hand."

John pauses changing the subject to his line of questions,

"We were hoping that Miss. LaFeur would be joining us, but I don't think she will. I have no heard from her in a while now. As for the agenda tonight, it is rather loose, however I do hope to cover everything you have mentioned. I also am hoping that we will get the chance to fill you in on everything that has been going on with us so far so that we are all on the same page. As soon as Lance returns, I think we will be ready to begin."

As they pass between the flickering pools of light from the street lamps and into a ribbon of shadows, Lance smiles - his teeth startlingly bright in the darkness. "Of course."

There's the muffled sounds of a sudden struggle, a stifled scream, then silence.

Lance receives a net increase of +1 vitae after struggle. Vice fulfilled.

Some time later, Lance returns to the Carthian meeting humming a tune with a smile on his face. His tie and coat have gone missing since they last saw him. "Mister Mclean, Mister Kesom, my apologies." He says, his voice chipper. "Since it seems Miss Lefleur isn't going to participate, shall we get on with the meeting? I'm sure we've waited long enough for any interested parties to show themselves."

John nods maintaining his cheery composure, He didn't know what Lance did, nor did he really want to know.

"Yes lets."

John walks over to the doors stopping one of the staff,

"I believe this should be everyone."

The woman gives him a strange look seeing that there were so few "people" on the boat they were not used to such a small amount of passengers.

John returns the look with an expression that said "your still getting paid for this."

She then nods and leaves.

Shortly after John closes the doors to the room the boat begins to move.

John then walks over to take a seat,

"So Gentlemen, Shall we get down to business? I would like to first Welcome Mr. Kaiden Kesom, It is a pleasure to have you with us."

John's tone is cheery and respectful, Martha's cheery disposition was really beginning to rub off on John.

Lance beams and waves cheerfully at Kaiden. "Hello Kaiden!" He sounds like he's greeting a fellow drunk at an AA meeting. Someone is in a mood tonight.

John sit down at the table taking note of Lance's "Mood" tonight. John truly hoped that his sense of humor would not disrupt them trying to get thing accomplished.

"Well Kaiden I am not going to lie to you, as you can clearly see our numbers are few, we have no real organizational structure at the moment, and on top of that the Movement here has a bad reputation from things that it has done in the past. Though there has been no outward hostility toward us, we stand on rather thin ice and we should move carefully."

John's tone is serious but not grim. He, didn't want to make it sound like the Carthians were unwelcome to the city and they were a band of renegades. He just want to make sure Kaiden knew what was at stake and they could not afford to be careless.

Lance makes a dismissive gesture with his hands. "There's nothing tricky about us. We just have been hemorrhaging members since forever. When we haven't been loosing people it's only because there's no one to loose. The few times neither statement has been true the group has been populated by incompetents that never got off their asses to do anything."

He shakes his head and pulls out a digital audio recorder and presses Record. "Okay let's get down to business. I'm recording the minutes on this device for our next meeting. There are several things on the table tonight but first off I want to point out that we are in public so there are certain things we need to be circumspect in talking about." He looks at both the vampires to make sure they understood him. Hopefully Mclean and Kaiden had sense enough to come to this conclusion, but Lance wasn't willing to just assume that. "Now, to be an active group in the eyes of our peers, we need to decide on Leadership." His tone of voice made it clear that he was talking about Prefect position. "Mister Mclean took himself out of the running for the position in our last meeting, so it's down to you and I Mister Kesom. If you have any desire to fill the position, please explain why you are a good choice. I'll follow up and we can put it to a vote. Otherwise I'm going to assume the position will fall to me by default. Afterwards we can get down and figure out how to improve out collective standing in the eyes of the city." He had plans on that score and they weren't going to spend all night on the boat. There was only so much pussyfooting around they could handle in an hour.
