"I shall return with the supplies, sir." The ventrue who existed within the faceless mass moves off into the dark.
The two kindred remain alone to solve a mystery.

The mystery of what the unusual graffiti could mean faces you. It's not a " hobo code' that kindred could use to communicate, such as safe direction to Elysium.

    What could this mean?
It occurred right where someone was attacked by a strong, unknown kindred. One has to wonder about poachers or someone who's come to the Domain to cause trouble.

    Do you recall any newcomers?

Diana's hazel eyes drifted from Otto to the markings in question. She stepped closer, hands sliding into the pockets of her joggers as she studied them in silence for a few moments. The Beast stirred at the scent of old paint and territory being claimed, but she kept it on a short leash.

"Hm." Tilting her head slightly, she regarded the symbols from a different angle before looking back toward Otto after the other Kindred left. "My first thought?" A faint smirk touched her lips. "Someone wants to be seen." Her gaze returned to the symbols.

"Whether it's a warning, a challenge, or someone desperately trying to convince themselves they're important is another matter." She shrugged one shoulder. "People don't usually leave marks like this unless they want an audience."

Diana stepped closer to one of the sigils, careful not to touch it. "If these are club symbols, then whoever put them here either knows enough to be dangerous or thinks they do. Neither possibility is particularly comforting." Her attention shifted between the Otto and the symbols.

"Could be a message directed at the people of our club. Could be bait. Could just be some fool who stumbled across something they shouldn't have and decided to make art out of it." A quiet chuckle escaped her. "I've learned not to underestimate fools. They cause nearly as many problems as enemies." She was puzzling aloud as she took everything in. Her mind worked to think of any significance of the number of symbols and repeating types, the order, sequence, whatever her mind could vomit forth unbidden to the present. Other than the obvious ones.

Straightening, she folded her arms across her chest. "But if you're asking what I see?" Her expression grew more serious. "I see someone testing boundaries. The question isn't what the symbols mean. The question is whether whoever left them already achieved their goal here, and the next is on the horizon. This isn’t about attacks, this is about carving territory. That’s what my instincts say.”

“....And I need something to call you. Just because you are perplexed doesn’t mean you can forget your manners.”

She stalled as something about all of this was really nagging at her.

Otto Schneider does not look like a priest at first glance. He shares his clan's tendency to overdress and one could be forgiven for assuming he is on his way to a meeting of the board. But despite this outward appearance he speaks with a conviction that is only found in true believers. His gaze is intense and seems to refuse to soften to match the rest of his expression at any given moment, appearing as though he's staring daggers at someone even while he grins.

Otto politely clapped, the kind of noise he'd made at golf courses while schmoozing with rich clientele. The slight smile on his face at least hinted that he didn't mean it mockingly. "You managed to unravel quite a bit of information from only a few moments of analysis."

    Too clever.

The Ventrue shrugged off the invasive thought as just another piece of bad advice. "A good start, and I dare say a great deal more than most would have put together with only so much time on their hands." Conveniently, the Reeve left out that he himself likely hadn't made the same analysis. He managed to follow her lines of logic and conclude that there was a soundness to her reasoning, but these initial facts had evaded him.

"I worry that it might also be a sign of someone outside the club trying to prove that they... know about our membership." The idea that they had flushed out the only active hunter cell in the city was naive, at best. The possibility that it was the work of kine who had become aware of the Masquerade couldn't be discounted.

The request for a name earned a momentary stare from the Reeve before he smiled politely. It didn't seem to reach his eyes. "I am Otto Schneider. I am an officer in our club."

Diana looks at the graffiti. There are some things that just click at times. These events don't happen very often. Yet there are times where the Heavens open, a chorus of cherubs sing and everything just makes sense.
The circle on the outside of the graffiti image is a specific color. It's chartreuse, that specific color that is used so often on fishing lures. It's also not a color normally used for Gangrel or Daeva Clans.
Clue 1 - this is a color that means something to the person meant to see the message.

Clue 2 - those images aligned just so were a specific message. It suggests " Daeva and Gangrel are aligned".
Clue 3 - Yet not all of the Daeva and Gangrel. No, there's a number of icons inside that chartreuse circle. That's how many are aligned. How many Kindred, you think. Which strongly suggests that this is a mark left by a coterie.

A coterie member was out of the loop and left a sign, 2 blocks from Elysium.

The location likely means something. Had something special happened at this location?

Anyone interacting at the graffiti can see that it's designed for temporary means. You can probably scrub it out with soap and water.

Diana listened carefully as Otto voiced his concerns, stealing a glance in his direction as he introduced himself. This time, her smile was genuine.

“I was told by the club owner to see if I could make myself useful to you, and here we are.” A quiet chuckle escaped her. “Funny how things work out, isn't it? I'm Diana Warren—free agent, personal trainer, and, if the rumors are to be believed, just another savage.”

Her attention drifted back to the graffiti, her easy demeanor evaporating as something clicked into place. She stepped closer, studying the symbols with renewed intensity.

    “Wait.”

She pointed toward the outer ring surrounding the markings.

“This circle is green. That's not a color normally associated with either of those chapters.”

Her finger rested against the chartreuse ring before moving to the Gangrel symbol and then the Daeva emblem, tracing the relationship between them.

“Whoever painted this chose their colors deliberately. They're speaking to someone who understands the symbolism.”

For a moment she was silent, her thoughts racing faster than her words. When she looked back at Otto, there was an urgency in her expression.

“Two chapter symbols placed together this precisely suggest cooperation—an alliance, or at least communication.” She leaned in again, tapping insistently at the tiny characters hidden within the green circle. “But look here. These marks indicate a specific number. Not everyone is included.”

    Another tap.

“This doesn't read like a message from an outsider. It reads like something left by a clique for another clique member—someone who wasn't present, someone catching up after the fact.”

She straightened, scanning the alley beyond the graffiti.

“And it wasn't left at random. It's only a couple of blocks from a safehouse. Whoever chose this wall expected the right person to find it.”

Her gaze settled back on Otto.

“The location is part of the message. Before we chase names, we need to know what happened here. Who met here, who passed through, or what event made this place significant enough to mark. I think that's where we'll find our answer.”

Otto's expression softened, if only by a few degrees, on hearing that Diana had been referred to him as an assistant. He would have to actually verify that, of course, but the Reeve silently thanked God and Longinus for the fortune of having an assistant sent his way in a time of need.

As she rattled off additional facts, the Ventrue ran a hand through his beard, an unconscious habit as he absorbed the information as she spat it out. There was a lot to process, though he was at least confident that he was keeping up with the general flow of things. Coded message... close confidants, probably coterie mates. Blood-bonded? No, not unless it's in defiance of Her Grace... At a minimum, someone would have to be punished for risking a breach of the Masquerade. I should be so fortunate that that would be the end of things.

"Interesting." He said finally. "And worryingly public. There are far more secure ways to pass along information." Otto walked over a few paced and stooped down to get a closer look. "Can it be erased easily? I'd like to have pictures taken for later reference and then get rid of these markings, if possible. The fewer people who see them the better, I should think." Much of the hostility has evaporated from the Priest's tone and expression. He's too focused to pass for 'friendly', but he was evidently making requests for information rather than demands at this point.

Diana crouched beside him, the scent of damp brick and old paint filling the narrow alley. She didn't immediately reach for the markings, instead studying the edges where pigment met concrete as though committing every line to memory.

"Public doesn't always mean careless," she murmured. "Sometimes it's a challenge. Sometimes it's a message meant for exactly the right eyes."

A fingertip hovered just above one of the symbols before lightly brushing the surface. The paint came away in a fine dust, staining the index finger of her left hand.

"It isn't enchanted, if that's what you're asking. Just paint. Fresh enough that some soap and water would make short work of it."

She rose in one fluid motion, dusting her hands together.

"I agree that it shouldn't remain here any longer than necessary Most people would walk past and see vandalism. club members..." Her hazel eyes drifted over the interlocking circles and angular lines. "We see patterns because we know they exist."

A faint smile tugged at the corner of her mouth.

"I'll take care of removing it once you've documented everything. I know a few tricks from cleaning climbing walls and gym equipment that don't attract attention."

Her expression settled into something more serious as she glanced toward the mouth of the alley.

"But if someone wanted this found by us, erasing it only hides the evidence. It doesn't stop the author from painting another wall tomorrow night."

    She looked back to Otto.

"So will you reach out to our club leader and loop me in? So we can unpack all of this privately? They would know more about the history of this place I am sure. We still do not know the significance of this location. We also need to be thinking of new people coming in recently." She paused to grin slightly. "I suppose that would put me on the short list, but I have nothing to hide."

Otto seethed slightly at the Savage's words, even though Diana was entirely rational in her presentation. "Club business should not be discussed in a public setting." He practically spat the words, though he managed to keep himself from shouting. "I'm not sure what would be worse, to be honest." His voice had lowered to a more conversational volume but hadn't lost its edge. "If it's carelessness, it reeks of stupidity. And if it's a bold declaration then it speaks to a degree of defiance not welcome in this city."

The Venture nodded at Diana's evaluation of the scrawlings before standing up and taking a few amateur pictures with his smart phone's camera. He was far from an expert photographer, but he could at least get a decent recording of what the markings looked like before they were erased. Once he had taken photos he deemed satisfactory, the Reeve nodded towards the Gangrel. "Alright. I am content with having these marks cleaned up."

"Finding the culprit is my top priority, obviously, but removing evidence that might attract unwanted attention is a close second." Otto sighed and for the first time in decades felt a compulsion to reach for a cigarette. The gesture quickly dissipated after an unconscious reach into his pocket.

He stood and turned towards the relative stranger, a bemused look on his face. "I will keep you appraised, yes. And I will be keeping a close eye on you, as well. Think of it as part of your... Probationary period as a new club member. Impress me and I will be sure to vouch for your. I'll be honest, your initiative has already impressed me. But I need more before I am willing to stick my neck out for you. Understood?"

When Otto turned his attention back to her, speaking of probation and scrutiny, Diana met his gaze without flinching. His warning earned the faintest hint of a smile—not amused, but appreciative.

"I would expect nothing less from security.."

She folded her arms loosely across her chest.

"Trust isn't owed. It's earned. Keep your eye on me if it gives you confidence that you've made the right decision. I have no intention of making your job harder."

The Gangrel glanced once more toward the defaced brick before returning her attention to Otto.

    "So, yes. Understood."

    Her expression softened only slightly.

"Until this is resolved, I'll keep my ears open. People who are proud of their work have a habit of talking, especially when they think no one important is listening."

She gave a little up nod and said "Here," she paused and took a business card out of her back pocket. Always prepared. "This is my private number." The card had her name on the front and her number on the back.
