"I did stupid shit back then," she informs Kray with full honesty. It IS a good description for pickpocketing one of Them and insulting it when it was going to let you walk. As for radioactive monsters in the 1980s, "Soda was better though. And according to movies? Yes. Reality, eh," she shakes her head, "Just in Ukraine."


At least Circe hadn't made any jokes about cannibalism and giants. Kray being what he was, that'd be kind of insulting.


"Hm?" Circe stops her sweep to inspect the find. "Oh," she nods as Kray reveals the coins. "UH, yes it is the treasure toilets. Looks like Sonja's frantic search missed some." Which was kind of amusing. "To collector, maybe a few thousand bucks or so, kind of on condition and these are in the shitter. Government smelted most of them for Knox bricks or something like that."


Circe isn't a history expert, she wasn't sure. What was she sure upon? "Looks like no more rats though. Nor Gremlins, so yay~"


Because screw fighting invisible monsters. She didn't like it. Though she'd a thought on making the coins worth more. "Hey Kray! I'm gonna make those coins worth more," she puts he hands on them and lets the Glamour flow.

Circe cleans the rust and polishes up the coins to trade level. To a collector, these are now in the 5 digit price range.


If the Lost choose to continue to the other two cameras: Sewer and Trapped Tunnels, they will need to make perception checks again. Still at +2.


If the Lost instead search for more toilet treasures...They are going to be disappointed.

The ogre is poking around jus the one toilet an d when it yields no further results is quick to give up. now if he had believed there was something not be gained then it would be a different story but here and now he's just being opportunistic. "Oh. Right Ukraine." How could he not know about that given recent times. Not big on the internet he did still keep abreast of the news just more old fashioned. "Uh. The reactor meltdown right." Yeah not to worked up about missing that event.

Circe waxes some more information on his find. "Huh. Well I can think of some uses for something like this collector or no." And one of those uses was just to be hoarded. Then the Summer sovereign does something unexpected and brings a scowl. "Ah. You know I don't like accepting things for free." And bolstering the value of something he already considered his did qualify. "Ah. I'm courting that against the mine shaft supports they cost a couple grand to get made." That's why its always good to have some one sided favours in your pocket so if you get jumped with owing something the scales don't balance against you.

But he is grumpy about it. "Bah." Picking up the barrow once more soapstone and coins having been tucked into an inside pocket of his long coat. "Lets go. Tunnels next right?" If he had his internal compass right which was far from a grantee.

"Dude, treasure SHOULD be shiny, Circe huffs out to Kray. It was the principle of the thing right now. "At least it'll cover the costs then," the smile she sends to Kray is quite, well, smarmy. Kray must remember, Circe enjoys being annoying. If he wasn't so irked by the handouts, she'd probably stop.


Well, maybe. Circe thinks she has more money than the other Lost in town. Condescending as it may be, they won't take guns dammit! Okay, mental note for later, she is still upset that nobody else is going for the bang bang option.


"Co~orrect," she says as they get moving to the next set of cameras. And possibly more tutorial battles.

Giant rats? That was a cliche for sure.

Narration:


The Lost do not encounter more hostiles or remains in the tunnels East of the supply gallery. No giant rats, dead rats, roaches, or other are noticed by them. Nothing is seen nor heard skittering around them. Neither flanking them nor crawling above their heads is noticed by the two changelings.


The sewer camera is closest. And what does the camera reveal?


Absolutely nothing. The entire time nothing moves onto the camera as it is looking at the sealed up tunnel. Nothing to be seen, nothing to be found. The almost week worth of footage show no activity, be it big or small, visible or not. The puddles at the bottom would make invisible steps quite obvious too. Nor is there anything below that they can see to have changed. Even the plastic rope ladder Circe installed remains, uneaten by the big rats.

This way is in the clear.

One camera remains.

[Kray]

Snorting wheatear that's from the exertion of having the barrow once more under load or in derision at the summer queens declaration is a little ambitious. "Ah. But you should also ask. Maybe I liked the aged look." Wear tear, the showing of time, a bit of character. "Ah. besides that nothing I couldn't have pulled round with a cloth, some polish and a bit of elbow grease." No stranger to the hard graft of labour as his efforts have shown.

Next camera down and one to go. "Huh. So far so good." Maybe they had nothing to worry about after all, but better to be safe then sorry with that kind of thing. "Hm. Doesn't look like the rats or roaches got here, is that normal?" What very little he knows of vermin would suggest that once they were in, they got established they got everywhere.

"You asked about price my man," she cheerfully informs him, still smarmy. "Figured you'd sell it." Then she decides to keep going. "Duuuude. Elbow grease is costly these days. And hard to find. Like headlight fluid. Its always sold out, so clearly high demand low supply."


Absurd jokes, so hopefully Kray doesn't question it. If he does? Danger of giant rats and invisible Gremlins be damned. Circe shall double over laughing. Probably scaring things in the process.


As for the lack of infestation in the sewer tunnel, well that was a good question. "Never saw signs of them here in, well, ever." She can't recall it. "No normal food routes for them, water is blocked off now. Still musty and moldy smell. Maybe, uh, no enticement maybe?"


And if the ventilation was flowing into the storm drains somehow, the scent would go away from the vermin.


"Or maybe that batch sealed up too much and there is less smell. Or the musty mold smell overwhelms it. I. D. F. K." yes, she says spells out the abbreviation. She kneels down and pokes the sausages.


As it was, they could also confirm there were less vermin in this path than the others.

The sausages are dried up and hard for some reason. Perhaps it has to do with a trick of the humidity from the storm drains and the old tunnels. Either way, they have no scent and are very solid right now. Like, hard tack solid.


3 days remain. One more location to check and one more Perception roll at +2, when you lot are ready to continue.

[Kray]

In spite of himself he chuckles although maybe not for the anticipated reason. "Ha. I think you've used that one before, are fresh puns also in short supply?" One of those rare instances of the ogre jabbing back at the summer queens jests. Was the car analogy that helped, it not being internet related? Who knows but he picked up she was joking clearly enough.

He takes the suggestion in stride having none better. "Huh. Something is putting them off or maybe attracting them elsewhere?" That could be it. "Ah. Still once we gas the place here, there, makes no difference." Which does raise a good question. "Uh. Circe how do we get the poison gas out once its done tis job?" Because if that just sat or worse leaked up through cracks into Funderland well that was not going to be ideal.

The special sausage bait hadn't fared well. "Uh. Bad batch maybe? It was my first time making it." Honestly that it had been serviceable at all had been a huge achievement to the Ogre. "Uh. But no gremlins so. One to go." And maybe soon they could rule out the possibility of dangerous lurkers in the tunnels.


Normally one for darker locations he has to admit this whole bright light thing certainty did make the process of searching considerably easier.

The smarmy smile turns into a prideful one, "Good one." She gives him an approving thumbs up, "And puns are a medium that can be rarely done well, even if availability wise they are kind of a point of fresh relief." She can still provide some. "And this," she pokes the sausage again before standing, "Is certainly nowhere near a pound of fresh. Closer to, uh, whatever that bullet proof Civil War bread was called."


As for culinary issues, "I've seen worst first batches. From mundies too mind you." Is she trying to reassure him? Maybe, even Circe doesn't know. "Do let's. Either no show or they're scared of barbed wire. Or rats."


Might as well leave it, just in case. If Kray wasn't taking it, why bother then? "Could be that too," she agrees with him. And nods as he is right about that. Once Circe has tested out the gas, it won't be a problem. "Uuuuuh," is her genius response. "You know? That is a first gas question. I can Haber-ly answer it," thank you Sabaton for edutainment on that. "But that has two answers my friend."

Circe walks and talks as they move to the last location. "First, we are testing it in the toxic suburb. We'll see how it acts, if it settles. Second," the smarmy smirk Kray had seen before? It is back. "Internet. I mean, I am all for capital S Science! But, why do the extra work if it already done."


Whilst manual research was good, look up others work is faster. Especially when it comes to the cleanup process. If it was harmless out of air, great! If residue stayed toxic and dangerous, well boo. They'd have to just use rat poison pellets instead.

Narration:


Nothing appears on the way, it is only at the line of traps they find things new.


The sausage at the trap tunnel is gone and the trap activated. Another fat rat, though most of it has fallen off, bloody bones below. Seems heftier than the prior two, so maybe it hung lower? Or the line was short. Either way, its fellows must have taken bites out of it before the upper half was left hanging, staining the floor below a blackened color of dried blood.


A big rat's partial remains are trapped in a spool of barbed wire. The bloody trail around the mostly bone corpse shows how the big rats were getting in and out through the barbed wire. This is obvious to Kray and Circe from their experiences in the Hedge. A second set of bones pull the wire forward, before it is pinned on the spike strip. Also partially eaten.


The trail couldn't be more blatant if the two had signs and glowing highlights like in a videogame's simplified "investigation mode" or something.


The camera? Still present and still good.


The footage? It shows what happened. The big rat hanging in the air arrived from the East, with a half dozen big rats. It seems to drive two rats forward, commanding them. One rat gets caught in the wire. The one they see dead on the wire. The second retreats and gets its head ripped off by the big rat. Third is driven forward, and this is the one that ends up pinned on the spikes. Big rat and the littler big rats feast on corpses.


Big rat then drives the others away to investigate the bloody sausage. And goes up with the trap. It starts to die, and the remaining three rats do indeed jump up to take bits out of the biggest rat. Feet and tail get pulled. This goes on for a day in a bloody, violent fashion, the big one hangs on to life the whole time.


It seems the rats wander off and come back, though on the second day one gets the big one to rip in half by holding on. And starts to feast.


Third day, smaller rats and roaches feast on the half that fell.


Cleaning it up quite well. Pretty much a case of damn nature you scary.

[Kray]

On that he did indeed agree. "Oh. yeah its very hard to have something both rare and well done." Or he had mistaken it for a food related jest. "Uh. Good to know how quick it goes off I guess in case we ever need to use it again." Stranger things and all that. Still maybe it need to go off before it was useful, never having tried to catch tunnel gremlins before this was alot of experimenting to see how it played out.

He grunts. "Oh. I've botched first attempts alot worse." Can't succeed at everything first try. "Ha. First time I tired to fix car ended up bends the exhaust pipe that didn't go down well." Maybe why he had regulated to only fixing his own car.

Nodding as he steered the barrow through the tunnels towards the last camera. "Ah. Yeah good point testing it will see if we have to worry about it rising." Even his cruelty streak didn't extend to kids dropping dead mid ride because they passed through a cloud of toxic fumes.

On the matter of cruelty what a scene splayed out before them. "Huh. Well dam." Putting the barrow down the ogre is particular interested to watch the camera feed for this one leaning over top of Circe to look down on the screen. "Hm. Quite the pack of rats. Can't tell if there smart to get over the traps or dumb to get caught in the snare." Bit of both. Then he starts counting and yes he does use fingers to make sure. "Uh. Circe three of the dog sized rats were left, we found one in the snare by the bridge, we killed one in the treasure toilets." Heavy brow furrows. "Uh. Did I mis count or is there a big attack rat still running about the place?" One on its own was hardly a problem they had shown that but still good to be aware of.

Circe:


"Ah ha, yet I can think of one: marshmallows," she runs with the food jokes. "Though, most are a little crusty if you ash them to eat the burnt outside, despite the sweet gooey inside." It worked a little bit. Probably, it was well done and not cooked at all in combination. Tangents are fun!


She looks at Kray in surprise as he mentions bending the exhaust pipe. Strength or tool issue was what caused that? "That'd be tough to un-dent," Circe says plainly. Circe can and has done automotive work. Smuggling runs don't have mechanics and she tweaks her ride, thank you very much. "Suction tool I think is the best step one for that," her tone is uncertain. She'd avoided such damages to the pipes. Engine? Yeah, not so much. "Probably easier than getting a crushed socket wrench out of a piston."


And then there is the footage. Because wow, talk about a shit leader of a dirty, fat rat. "Agreed. That is some shit leadership," she nods agreeing with him. It was an impressive pack, the big one being at least as big as Fugly was, well, worrisome. "Brutal to force minions to breach the traps, but smart too." Circe looks from the screen to the hanging half of fat rat. Then smarmy smile is back: "To quote a great actor: I'm glad you're dead."


Then pauses in her taunting of a corpse as Kray brings up an important point. Circe starts counting on her free hand. Shakes head, nods, recount. "[tip=fuck]Fanculo[tip], one more fat rat down here."


That could be a problem. She brings up the brightness of the camera as much as possible, trying to figure out where the last rat went. East or West?


"What you thinking Kray? Track it down or rat poison?"

Narration:


Kray's math is NOT wrong. One big fat rat hanging had commanded 6 big rats, with 5 down and one to go. The rats' movements are hard to figure out from the footage, but it looks like WEST is possible from the re-watching. If the Lost wish to try to tack it, they will have to roll Wits + Survival to try to find tracks. Elsewise, they can make sure other Lost know there are VERY big rats to worry about.

Fixing the barbed wire back would ensure it has trouble just crawling into the Lost's territory of tunnels.

[Kray]

The sweet treat of campfire stick fame is well known to the ogre but not one he tends to care much for, almost unheard of where food is considered. "Ah. Point to you sure you got one. Not hand much to do with teem since I got back though, nightmare to get out of my teeth." And as the terrible teeth could reduce dental floss to so much useless string that was an annoyance he would rather not deal with.

She was right it had been hard to fix, for someone else. "Ah. I got taken off the car after that, quickly learnt not my line of work." Maybe a rough history with the efforts of crafting is why the stinky sausage had seemed like such a big win to the ogre. "Uh. Depends is the piston still working? If so easy to get out I would guess." Just wait for the piston to open again and pull.

With Joseph Ratlin dead and hung and only one contender for the throne left it does at least give credence to the idea that no meat eating monster that leave piles of bones are living in the tunnels , else the gremlins would in Kray's mind have become the apex predator and the rats wouldn't be organised. "Ah. If all we need to handle is rats then that's not to worrisome considering." Rats could be handled.

With all the blood and tracks of smaller vermin cris crossing the area as they pilfered the food stuffs the giant has no clue. "Uh. I can't tell where." Which means all roads lead to. "So. Poison. Don't matter where it is after that." East, West or any other direction toxic fumes would soon put an end to the line of the rat kings of the tunnels.

With time approaching 30 days just want to say a huge thank for the scene it was awesome and had a great time!
