In Guru's defense the Spirit was watching, he wasn't using magic, and every step that wasn't a slurp of sludge was a snap, crackle, and pop of dried bramble. He might as well be walking through a bowl of rice crispies with the noise he was making, each step and each send elevating his heart rate. Get to the Pipe. Cap it. Let the city deal with it. Get out. Even if I can't get to the pipe I might be able to use the matter around it to cap it. He could only afford a glance in that direction as he did his best to keep everything in line of sight while making the approach. He'd start a low rhythmic hum, getting ready to chant as he'd need it as this was going to take a working under a whole lot of pressure.

The sludgy mess of an entity is focused far more on the one it is conversating with then on the less then stealthy Sharman. Neither had proven hostile and it seems it does consider such an openly display of movement a threat to itself rather turning back to the bargain being struck. "I would need to be a that which would see no nourishment in the dying." A pause it does not so much cock its head as twist it a full three hundred and sixty degrees. "I was not always so I was other then I was before. Something changed and things began to wither. Things began to die. I consumed of death because that is what there was to consume. Now death nourishes me." It motions have stilled, less excitable, less playful, more serious, more guarded even.

Guru is able to reach the stretch of earth and embankment that would lead onto the dirt ledge that had crumbled and been repaired earlier, the same ledge that had sent ether a man or his dog into the stagnant waters below.

So.... it was a think, then it changed? Maybe we can change it again? Maybe? Either way, I can't see negotiating any more with this thing. The Arrow thinks, her brow furrowed. Guru seems to me moving around, but she has no idea what for.

If she could convince the creature to back away, perhaps they could find what made the spirit align to death. Though that might need Aurora's help - You didn't become a Master of Spirit without understanding some of how they worked.

Guru seems to be deciding on the best angle of approach, taking his time slowly.

The thing begins for lack of better term prowl back and forth, Phoenyx having the bulk of it's attention. oozing trails of watery sludge left in tis wake. It is not closing the gap in particular way but does seem to be investigating potential angles. Someone with Phoenyx's battlefield experience could definitely see a situation where she could draw the spirit a bit further away to give Guru room to investigate if she was willing to use herself as the bait to make it follow.

"You were in the pool eelier. You surprised, taking you would require more then I would get. But other offerings can be made. Dropped into the water and muck and the reeds to tangle and drown. To die and decay. Is that what your offering, nourishment?"

Guru looked over to the Spirit and Pheonyx currently chatting. He held his hand up and flapped it like lips opening and closing. He'd then turn his gaze from her to his objective which is where the pipe had been and where danger might lie.Hekept up the low chant keeping his eyes open and approaching the source of the spiritual taint. First he needed to stop it from spreading and if he had the time he might be able to reverse the damage already done but that was asking for a whole lot. He took a deep breath and knelt as he reached the stretch of earth that was the embankment and began to reach in for the pipe, he needed to get his hands on it if he could. If not he needed to push the much out of the way to get sight of the problem.

Guru's signal to keep the Spirit talking makes Phoenyx groan internally and purse her lips. Small talk was not her strength when she was prepared and had a common topic she knew about, let alone trying to understand a suspicious and dangerous denizen of the Spirit world.

She takes a step closer, trying to lure the spirit towards her and away from Guru, her backpack in hand.

<<You want bribing, it that it? what manner of Offering do you require?>> She had a feeling she knew it owould be something alive - it had basically already said as much.

Guru is now chipping away the earthen embankment underneath him with care, well aware the precipitous and detrimental nature of doing so.

Guru can try to do this quickly with strength and stamina or subtly with a strength+stealth roll

The oozing mass of sludge water and reeds is rather rapt with the arrow at the moment the pacing speeds up almost as if it was excited. "If I was sated I would have no need to take. If I was offered I would have reason to pay better care. Creatures of flesh, full of life to be drowned and silenced. Dropped in the water. That I what I require." A motion like tensing muscle as elements under the sludge tense in anticipation.
