A meeting with a Rose

Al nodded slightly. He didn't think it was the right time for topics like his grandfather.

"It would probably be a tale for another night... perhaps."


"We certainly could."

He nodded on the point with an agreeing smile.

"Indeed it is not the same. Performances need good actors in addition to the talent of the author, otherwise it would be like me trying to work in the style of Renoir or Monet."

He thought for a moment, before speaking.

"In terms of art it is mostly expressionism. Music ? Classical, jazz, a bit of swing."

Again he sought for the memory which took a bit.

"I did learn French in school, at first and quite some time after that I went to University to study French literature. That got me into contact with the works of Chretien de Troyes, Jean Bodel, Helinand de Froidmont and Jean Renart. In order to be able to read those works, I travelled to Montpellier and spent some time learning classical French. I hardly have opportunities to speak it, so I mostly only use it for reading..."

He shrugged, as he didn't have much opportunity to use it on a daily basis.

[French] "It is of use from time to time, but not very often. Many Americans seem to be quite monolingual."

"We have lost many a things, one thing we have gained though is time, if we play our cards right so time in abundance. Share the tale when it feels right, know though that I shall be looking forward to it."

Only offering him a smile in return, seeing no need to further a topic they were already both in agreement on.

Making a swift note in her notebook of the names.
"Indeed they do, and that is what they were written for. To make that wonderful art of writing meet the performance arts in a combined majestic wonder that is so strong that it has survived the passages of time many times over and even resulted in birthing some of the most talked about things in the world today."

Blinking at his choices, feeling herself quite lucky that she was mostly lost.
"Expressionism is one I am familiar with, would not call myself an expert of any kind but do have familiarities. I attended more than a few such displays in my younger years, and even an auction or two where such things were the primary sold things." Not my cup of tea but familiar at least. "Jazz and swing I must admit I have no insight into more than the most basics of the basics though, as you guessed not where I walk. So it would be a grand chance to widen my horizons, if you want company for such a night you have my number."

Gladly giving him the time to think, not one to rush or stress talks, besides she enjoyed a bit of quiet, a chance to just be as she softly strokes her jacket. Swiftly grabbing her pen as he spoke to jot down the names once more.
"That is quite an insight into you as a person, or at least who you were at that point in time, I reckon it cannot have been easy to share." Warmly smiling toward the older Priscus. "It is greatly appreciated to have instilled enough trust to be allowed to hear such parts of yourself despite sharing neither blood, nor allegiances." One she would not wish to break.

"Would you like to be able to get the chance to speak French with someone overall, or are you contempt with the English?" Rolling her eyes at his words with a sigh. "Indeed we Americans are awfully skilled at not learning a second language, and sometimes it is a question if we have even mastered our mother tongue. So Monolingual indeed."

A look toward the time.
"Whilst this night has been highly enjoyable so do I fear that our time is running out, and I will need to take my leave soon lest be caught by the rising of Sol." Starting to pack her things. "It was a delight to get to visit your abode, and I hope we can meet soon again for either talks or an activity, not limited to arts for myself though. Fortunately I was blessed with a mind that enjoys trying nearly anything, so there are few things I cannot find enjoyment within."

Al just nodded on that, not knowing what to say.

"Thank you, I will."

The matter of insight wasn't commented on as he didn't want to put pressure on her. On the question of whether he would like speaking French he thought a while.

"It would be... nice to speak French once in a while."

Al nodded, as he had found the talk enjoyable as well The topic of Americans went without comment, as he didn't want to add slanderous comment..

"It was enjoyable indeed. Perhaps the next time we can meet at a place of your choosing."

Getting up with a light curtsy toward the older man, letting the many things she had bombarded out fall to the side as she gets ready to leave.
"That would be intriguing, I shall see if I can find an avenue that might be one of enjoyment, or that can spark some intriguing conversation." Taking a last look around the room as she moves toward the door. "It might take me a little bit to find something just right though, but I shall be in touch, and you have my number in case you find something you might wish company for."

Placing a hand upon the door as she looks back to the man with a light motion of the corners of her lips, taking just a second to long to speak as she shifts her thinking pattern around ever so slightly.
"Je ne peux malheureusement pas vous donner un aperçu de tous vos intérêts, mais si le fait d'avoir quelqu'un avec qui parler français est un de vos souhaits, je serais heureux de le réaliser." I do hope he did not think I read those plays in English.

Opening the door with a light wave to the man before closing it and beginning to walk away for a while, making sure to be quite some distance away before booking a ride service to take her close to home, and walk the final distance, she really needed to get her car out and easier to use again.

Thanks for the scene, it was enjoyable.

"All right, then."

He smiled on her words, as catering to all his interests wasn't necessary.

"Il ne faut pas donner un apercu a tout mes interesses. Un peu suffit."
