So many words for a position that wasn’t what everyone seemed to think it was.
“The role of Councilor isn’t what some dream it to be. It isn’t some fantastic role that serves the greater good that is met with respect without headaches and frustrations. It’s thankless, frustrating, and often times fighting an uphill battle. I want to work with our Path as a whole, I want us all to get to know each other better, to understand each other better. But there really isn’t a whole lot I can teach someone about being a Councilor, it’s a trial by fire, you get it, get thrown in and either are successful or you’re not. You learn who your friends are and who they are not, you see the darker side of the community and have to help enforce the laws, putting those you care about on trial. And I’ve seen some of the friendships already formed, and I honestly don’t think you could do what would need to be done if the time came.” A look to Skye. “I’m sorry, but there are times I worry you care too much. And maybe I don’t care enough. But when it comes to not only my safety, but the safety and security of this community, I will do what I have to.” Without a second thought. “It’s not personal, it’s just my observation, which is why I would like to get to know you better, to see if my observation is wrong.” Because it could be, and she would own it if it was.
“It’s not that I’ve changed my mind, I had my mind made up after the first meeting. But with the request for a second meeting, felt it would be a good chance to open the floor in case opinions changed.” She would be nothing but honest.
Nodding at the words, “I’ve been here a while off and on.” That was no secret. Not sure if she was talking about someone in particular, “There will always be those among us who talk more then they should, and speak before they truly think, our lives are dangerous, and words have consequences, and they should face them.” Facts. “I don’t need an out, if I didn’t want to step up, I wouldn’t have done so.” She was quite capable of saying no. “It’s a weight I’ve carried before, and a weight I am capable of carrying to keep those around me safe.” Truth be told, she only trusted Guru to do what was right if the time ever came.
A glance to Asclepius, “You are who I choose for the role of Provost. Now I am not looking to have this role filled with the idea of musical chairs, people thinking it passes from one to another in a determined time frame. One thing this Concilium is lacking is consistency, and we are going to bring the consistency it needs. If someone decides they can no longer fulfill the responsibility of the position, then a new one will be decided by the Councilor, like it has always been done. The Councilor of the Path is the one who selects the Provost who serves under them.” the votes meant nothing to her, it was not how Provost decided.
