With a bit of time and slow recovery the near drowned man recovers, physically at least, hi heart break will be something a lot longer in its mending. The mages have seen him off safely knowing he will be well enough when a friend picks him up. The body of the dog is left, but the lady picking up David, the man who nearly drowned, says she will send someone by to fish it out later in the day so they can bury it, give some closure on the sudden loss.

This leaves both The Sharman and the theurge alone in the clearing by the pool the bank now fully repaired of the damage, inconspicuous, harmless, undisturbed.

The fiery energies of leylines blaze over head and no further disturbances have been noticed in the flow of energy.

Guru felt bad for the guy, his heart really went out to him. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. From what he could tell the dog likely disturbed a local spirit and paid the price for it, they both nearly did. But it was unusual for them to act like this right? Fuck! You can't call Aurora to fix every spiritual issue. Let's put our heads together and see what we can find out. What we can find out!? Focus! His racing thoughts snapped shut for a second before he looked out over the clearing, making sure to get a good look around to see who and what was around first before he went and did or said anything stupid. "I have some suspicions. I might need to change my glasses around." He said as he took them off and at least began to clean them as a show.

Phoenyx has been drying her clothes back out.

"He said something grabbed him. What do you think?" She lowers her voice, staying lcose to Guru to minimise risk of overhearing. "Spirit? Can you take a look for one?"

She looks up, following the paths of Power and where the energy is being drawn from.

Guru takes a close look around, mundane senses telling him that nothing was amiss, his sense life however tells him that life is struggling much as before plants are stunted the smaller weeds not present, those at the bottom of the pond are withered and and stunted they sure don't look like they should have the strength or form to entangle and hold down a grown man or dog.

Phoenyx can see the blazing trail of energy calm and uninterrupted going about its business, but the repaired bank is earth that she watched form from that very energy, the soil being woven from the immaterial into being to cover over the burst and leaking pipe.

No immediate sense or awareness would indicate the presence of a spirit however, that of course is no indicate one does not wait unseen silently and inactive currently.

Guru was quiet, calm, and still now that the adrenaline had worn off. He gave a short but tentative nod to Pheonyx's words. "Best guess so for. Going to try and verify but I can't do much beyond that. As much as my head is in the clouds my feet are firmly planted on the ground." He offered a half smile that bore a tinge of sorrows at its edges. He used that intent, that desire to know, to see what is unseen to fuel his working. Starting with the Imago, the bones of a spell he'd cast a dozen times before but reaching into an aspect of the world he'd only brushed the surface of so far. He was a victim of circumstance as much as his own lack of focus in his studies into the spirit world. But he had to rely on an old crutch. Even after verifying there wasn't anyone around it still felt so intimate to speak them so openly.

While the words were whispered in his silent reverie once the spell took hold he let out a deep breath and opened his eyes once more. Replacing the sunglasses as he looked around the area, this time to see more of the Primal Wilds touch on this world. The burden on his pattern wasn't without toll. It added a weight to everything he did, it slowed him down, and filled his head with an incessant buzzing. But at least he could look around with a fresh perspective.

Contagion only affects spell casting rules it does not impose a penalty on scrutiny

Guru is able to determine the area around the bool, barren or withered plant seeming to appear more transparent, less real and less present under his spiritual sight he knows this is not an indicator of its actual physicality it is real but a sign that helps tell it's state of being and all around carries a surface resonance of Rot and decay.

As a skilled mage he knows he can dig deeper to see if more subtle and hidden elements make themselves known to him. Or a peek into the twilight of the shadow would tell him if a spirit lurks in the area.

Guru, despite his path and his mastery, was a mere Initiate in the realm of Spirit so he'd found his understanding lacking in that realm. He'd understood the resonance, had felt it in the back of his throat, could feel it on his skin. Rot was just as natural to the world as death but was it natural here? Was this a territorial dispute? The silence to his internal questions where normally there was a buzz of activity ground against him. He didn't enjoy being ignorant, to feel like he was asleep once more. He would have to use this as further proof he needed to stop ignoring that aspect of his path. "My understanding isn't that deep unfortunately."

As guru continues to peel through the resonance of the bank he reaches something deeper, suppressed. the resonance of brokenness. maybe an indication on the broken pipe within the bank?

However as both mages behold the area keeping senses keen and wits sharp something slips into twilight from somewhere else a thing of clumped earth and pond weeds only its in a state of partial decomposition melting and oozing a putrid green sludge it casts the reeds sticking from the earthen clumps around like feelers, sensors almost from its perch on the bank.
