    Beast

    The wildness that infuses a Beast gives her a supernatural affinity with animals. A Beast gains the benefit of the 8 again rule when using the Animal Ken Skill, and receives a free Specialty for the one animal that most reflects the Beast’s seeming. That same wild nature gives a Beast a powerful personal magnetism. A Beast’s player can spend points of Glamour to add to dice pools involving Presence and Composure. Each point of Glamour spent adds one die to one dice pool.

    Tooth and Claw

    Can inflict lethal damage instead of bashing damage when fighting unarmed.


    Burning Hypnotism

    Once per scene, the player may spend one Glamour to surround the Flamesiren with a blazing flame-like aura. Anyone looking at the Flamesiren must make a successful Resolve + Composure roll or suffer a two-dice penalty to all actions until the character decides to douse the aura or the scene ends, thanks to the distraction.

    "Honestly, I wouldn't mind conducting a more thorough exploration of the Hedge. It's been quite some time since I've ventured deep within. The last time I was there, Circe and I encountered some individuals engaged in their own beast hunting. I'm somewhat curious if they're still around."

    Vincent gazes at the cart and whistles, "Wow, Circe, I knew you were incredibly skilled, but this is top-notch jury-rigging. Hopefully, it rides as well as it looks."

    Vincent gave his gear one final check, feeling assured about the equipment he was carrying. As he did so, his tattoos started to emit a soft bluish-white glow. "Is everyone prepared to go in? Circe, since you are the only royalty here, perhaps you'd like to open the gate? It seems only proper to offer."

    "Really?" She tilts her head as Kray mentions plastic problems. "Huh? That is odd." It hadn't happend to her yet. A for the oiling of the tracks, "First time. Success proven as ya didn't hear me coming back," she gives a thumbs up and joins those who are looking at the cart. She needs to retrieve the rest of her kit.


    "Eh, I hid some stuff. Toxic ruins to explore," she points down into the darkness. Then points at the Hedge Gate, "Risk of Rust. Got some of the safety stuff."


    Circe puts her pack on, shouldering her rifle. Then looks at Vincent. To the junky cart. To Vincent. Junky cart. "Bath matt might help prevent splinters. And it is pile of scraps banged together to work. That it moves means it is BETTER than it looks," everyone can hear the cheeky smirk.


    Everything on her that she brought, Circe eyes the gate. "We should really figure out the key for this at some point. Buuut ahem," Circe stands taller and struts up to the Gate. "The royal we, do decree, the research need not take our sleep, for Glamour be cheap." She touches the gate, letting loose her Glamour to trigger the opening.


    ooc: I thought the gate was at the other end of the tracks for some reason Guess Circe tricked out the rail cart without practical reasons for this scene

    The 'gate shudders, the dry dirt coughing dust into the air Circe's glamour subsumes the material. Slowly, but very fast the archway of dirt gives way to the lush vegetation of the Hedge, As the Lost venture forward, the tunnle around them. Bright impossibly green, smelling like flower, fresh cut grass and the promise of rain.

    Spring still has a grip upon the Thorns.



    Can I get a marching order?

    I'd also like some Perception rolls, as well a Wits + Survival, remember Clarity!

    Circe essentially kicked in the door and has a machinegun, albeit without the BIG magazine. Plus the most armor, so the Groundskeeper/Summer Queenis going to insist on going first if nobody tries to block her. The blue Larcenist makes sure her helmet and rifle lights are both on.


    The Hedge may look brightly green, but it reflects Iron Side and they are underground. Darkness was a risk. "Nobody stand in front of the gun," she warns. They should know by now, but Circe didn't abide by Hollywood gun safety.

    A giant of a man (7ft 6'), broad as a barn (300lb) his muscles are not things curated for gym selfies but thick from use and abuse. The jug jaw can be said to be his most flattering feature, after the badly broken nose, limp locks of hair and sharp shattered teeth. He wears a long poorly made overcoat, suspenders keep trousers up over a ill fitting white work shirt. A battered fedora is his only accessory.

    Mask: a battered brown moth eaten fedora, the hat band looks like a band of sackcloth has been wound around it.

    Mein: made of stitched red and brown leaves, 2 holes for his horn nubbins -- the scarecrows I pictured to be in place of the hat band, just a jumbled array of tiny standing and suspended sackcloth and straw people ringing the main body of the hat.

    Standing an inch or so taller and broader than its already giant mask the blubbery ashen skin, splotched with chitinous scabs and bulbous fleshy worts look almost diseased. Wild and matted lichens and moss form a tangled mane of hair and beard. Thick trunk like, twisted, arms of exaggerated length, end in vast hands with dark chipped nails. The pillar like legs bow slightly. A barrel chest and obese gut only add to the immensity of the creature. A broad jaw houses a chaotic array of sharp and curving teeth resembling shards of stone that prevent complete mouth closure ensuring they are always on display. The flat squashed nose leads to the sickly yellow sclera of the vast bulbous eyes and pupils more akin to fragments of flint, in turn overshadowed by nubbin horns protruding from a wide forehead

    To watch magic at work was always an wonderous thing, to behold the summer queens glamour and the dirt form an impossible arch into the thorns of vibrant green was mesmerising. And why he misses the start of forming up, as Circe and Vincent move into what look like practiced formations.

    If the ranged fighters want to go first, well they know the area better then he does so he allows it.

    Kray will follow after Vincent, remaining for him surprising alert, which is to say nothing special by anyone else's standards just keeping in the moment.

    The real side of Jasper looks very similar, tall and lanky with a lithe build. The glaring difference is his head: a large shaggy head of what looks like an Irish Wolfhound rests on his shoulders. A pair of expressive green eyes and alert ears give him an alert and kind look to his features. He still has that same rugged good looks about him, despite the blocky canid snout he has. His leather jacket looks very well made and hangs on his lanky form almost like a second skin, the furred interior looking soft and blacker than the night.

    The light floral scent of honeysuckle with the slight tang of musk beneath it, like a good sweat earned after a roll beneath the sheets.

    The giant Beast isn't exactly sure the point behind the brawlers being in the back but then he doesn't want to have a bullet in him so he takes the rear of the group. It's a small task to look around the bigger Ogre in front of him but he makes do, letting his sharpened senses help him.

    The hound-headed Beast keeps an eye out as they progress into the hedge, his hand slipping into coat's pocket to pull out his lighter. With a practiced ease, he flips open the lid of the Zippo and then flicks the wheel with his thumb, a small flame bursting into life. His thumb then passes through the flame, letting the heat jump up his arm and start to surround his torso in a fiery and protective haze before he closes the lighter and repockets it.

    OOC: I rolled Jasper's Survival Specialty separate as I wasn't sure if it would apply here, but it didn't actually matter in the long run.

    The Lost continue forward each keeping the Path, Spring had overgrown much of the - to all but one - much familiar routes closest to the 'Gate. They were still traversable but the would need to be pruned, soon.

    Fire bursts forth, surrounding Jasper in it's protective heat.

    Nothing obviously monstrous bursts forth to to savage them as they continue forward. Good, the denizens of the Hedge haven't forgotten just who Patrols the area.

    They continue. Even now, looking back the 'Gate isn't in sight.

    The Beasts smell it first, something rotting. Though not has horrific as the fetid cacophony Jasper last scented in his last disastrous Patrol. It's coming from up a head.

    To the others, those without the enhanced bestial snouts, the catch a glimpse of something red - not blood, nor bloom, but tendrilous, and mayhap fibrous?

    While Circe considers shooting over a shoulder into melee to be kill helping rather than stealing, she does have a firm formula for first entering the Hedge. Gun up, clicked to full auto. If hostiles on other side, fill with steel until no hostile remains. If no hostile, let bashers be in front. Not just disdain for her allies inferior tactics, mostly fun efficiency of spray and make them pay.


    "Entry clear!" she says loudly, then lowers the rifle to a ready position. And Jasper lit himself up. Subtly? Fuck that seems to be the rule. The lights don't seem to be as needed, might as well save the batteries and click of her own lights, "Thanks for the light Jasper. If bashers want up front, I can shoot over yer shoulders juss," Circe almost starts to walk, yet stops. A click comes from her rifle. "Just fine."


    Circe fails to notice it as quickly as the Beasts do. The rotten meant smell. All too familiar.


    Be it the Hedge or Iron Side Frankenstein wannabes, she was familiar with the aroma. "Dead ahead," she smiles at the pun. She takes a hand and pats down her fanny pack. Pats some more as she leans forward, trying to see where the smell was coming from.

    Circe frowns as she says, "Vaffanculo, i fottuti bastoncini luminosi non sono fottutamente ĺ, cazzo, davvero?," Circe sighs, "If anybody wants to throw a light stick, um, my pack's left pocket should have some? Um," Circe thinks for a moment as she recalls how many pockets the pack has, "Middle left pocket."
