Squeaky Choir: Into the compound

    Salem remember when retrying failed actions you have a cumulative -1 penalty. Fortunately this time removing a dice does not affect the result.


    Showing the value of teamwork to cover each others weaker areas Philip gives Salem the extra he needs to get over the fence with no further damage. And with Winter following quite able by himself all of he mages are now within the compound proper. Corn and Winter mages to keep a more hidden presence then the two free councillors.

    Corn's Vigil rewards him as he can hear the commotion of raised voices adding to the group around the dead man. The scene has served as a useful distraction for the four mages and so far no one has noticed them. The aura of death hangs heavy around that corner of course someone just died. He does not have line of sight to any of the workers to determine if any more are close to a sudden and bloody end. He for the moment is safe in the knowledge the coast to the nearest building is clear. The very one in which the death has occurred just around the corner from them.


    Now they have infiltrated will the mages seek to examine the corpse surrounded by sleepers? gain entry into the nearest building or try for a different building further into the compound away from the noise and people?

    Sticking to his fellow Libertine after he got him over the fence, he simply couldn`t manage to get a grip on things the way Winter and Corn managed. But Philip still tried his best as he followed Salem, and as best he could. It didn`t help that Salem informed them that some of them had radios, meaning reinforcements were but a click away, making Philip nervous.

    Nevertheless, he diligently, but disquietedly tried keeping a look-out for anything that could be related to the `fun` that Salem had picked up in his backpack, or indeed anything else for that matter. Briefly he also glanced to the others, as if confirming what he already knew. And that was that they were going to continue sneaking in and that Philip would let the others, and also somewhat blindly and stupidly trust Fate to lead him to his destination.

    "They are gathering around the dead man, it works as a distraction but they are not far away. With ambulances coming and them gathering around the dead man, we should be careful." Corn says in a low voice. "Perhaps those of us in the shadows could move a bit closer to have a look of the body - and others that may be infected."

    The Warlock nods. "Yeah, they're all around the body at the moment, except for the guard in the guard shack.." he says, shifting his gaze there for a moment as he crouches down, trying to lessen his already small stature. He's not doing a fantastic job in hiding but it's the thought that counts. Right?

    After checking on the guard post, he'll shift his gaze back to it's vantage point on the corner of the building, keeping an eye on the four people there and the one body. "If it was darker, it might be useful.." he muses softly aloud, possibly to himself.

    Dark shadows scatter in ordered symmetrical patterns traversed by a crackling pallid silver light that wraps Winter in a pleasantly numbing and icy coldness.
    When vulgar magic is cast, the frequency of the oscillation of the dark fluid surges until the shadows arrange themselves in a solid black halo around Winter's head, the white light darkens into a fiery black sunlight and his eyes are set ablaze with vivid incandescence.

    The mages loiter indecisively around the fence making no commitments to advancing further into the compound. The small amount of time they have to work unseen ticking by each second impacting the potential to learn, to limit, to overcome.

    Philip through his cautious look around can see light spills from the door left open in the guard post if they intended to cross to that side or exit that way it poses a risk.

    Salem's angled vision sees the group now huddled a few steps away from the corpse one worker bent double with his hands on his knees seems to be retching bile and the last of what ever his most recent meal had been. Another points out the direction the blood soaked rat had run to the security guard whose flash light picks out the bloody trail with little issue which the guard begins to cautiously follow. A trail that leads right to the mages! The beam of the his torch scythes through the dark following the blood, probing for things unseen if the speed of that rat getting to Salem is any indication they have moments before there cover is blown.

    "Let`s continue, quickly."
    he whispered quietly, beckoning the others to move into the nearest building quickly, as he was doing the same, quite quickly. As he did so, he noticed the strobing lights of the flashlight of the guard approaching them. So he attempted to cast his wish into the ever-mercurial streams of Fate, hoping to get an edge with the guard at the Perfect Moment that was approaching them. But he couldn`t get the imago to form as he struggled against the contagion from his spells and the rapid changes of the situation with the guard, and their attempts to hide their somewhat-stealthy position.

    Noticing Winter pointing towards a building further in, the central building, corn nods. People are gathering around the unlucky dead man. Inspecting his corpse without anyone noticing them would be difficult. Perhaps when the ambulance showed up they could get a glimpse but with all the commotion and the light approaching them he thought it would be better and safer to move towards the central building.
    Thus, still using the shadows for cover, he tiptoed around the pools of splotchy lighting towards the direction winter pointed and away from the approaching guard.







    I assume I don't need to keep rolling stealth. Corn approaches the central building, trying to avoid people coming out from there.

    "They're coming this way," he says quickly and quietly, trying to move with the others towards the shadows of the building. As he moves, he calls upon his will again. He doesn't want to get caught more than any of the others really.. He's holding the murder weapon after all. Much like his shielding spell makes him partially not there, he obfuscates himself and his possessions to the minds of anyone around him, now a presence one will ignore.
