JC was not a couple’s counselor. Granted, IFS techniques were pretty easy to apply to multiparty disputes. It was internal family systems after all. However, that wasn’t why JC had not done couple’s therapy. It was because it stressed him out.
Yet at the same time, that was not why he wasn’t forcing these two to sit down and start using I statements. The truth was, at this point in his night, he didn’t really give a damn. Honestly, Edward ought to know better. Maybe Edward actually thought his actions in court were not able to be interpreted as they so easily were. While JC definitely thought that Heinrich believed he had done nothing wrong and by many measure he hadn’t, in Kindred society he had. If Edward was ignorant, he needed to wise up. If he wasn’t then he still needed to wise up. JC had had to leave domains for less and part of him resented the man for being given the chances the Gangrel had not. Another part felt sorry to see the struggles of the Beast manifest in this battle. Neither were enough to overcome his annoyance. He wasn’t going to solve this with keen therapeutic insight about clashing world views and ascribing motives to other people. He wasn’t going to try. Yet, a small part insisted that he at least give some advise. A warning at least.
“Mr. Heinrich,” JC’s voice was quite and nonjudgmental, yet at teh same time it wasn't his 'therapy' voice for those that had heard it. It wasn't invested enough in Heinrich's wellbeing “You have been asked by a member of the domain in good standing to either provide any information you might have regarding our investigation, which would be appreciated; to accept the terms Priscus Hazelton has given; and if you do not wish to do either to leave this haven. To do or say more beyond those actions will place you in violation of the Law regarding personal domain.”
There was a very slight smile, like JC had just thought of something funny. He kept steady eye contact to measure Edward's response. Maybe there would be a second Kindred to bring for the Prince to judge. Maybe he would have to beat down someone else tonight. Part of him wished the thought didn't bring him so much joy but another said he needed to take his jollies when he could.
