The above attack does not account for Brigit's defense. Brigit's defense is 2, which means Brigit would not suffer the damage, given that Tommy's success is in the first two dice. When this is acknowledged or the reasoning for the the success is relayed, I will post.
A defense of 2 means the last two dice are deducted not the first two. He would have rolled 8 instead of 10 meaning his first die roll of 10 still results in a success. Otherwise, he would take no damage from Emily's attack.
By this logic, Tommy would not be able to ignore all of Brigit's successes unless he has a defense of at least 5. Is that is the case? The post noted that none of Brigit's attacks connected. To be clear, I am not trying to be confrontational, but if Tommy's Defense is less than 5, Brigit has been cheated, as her second die was a success
Tommy's defense is at least 5 and he is taken directly from an example from a rulebook with two minor merit swaps to fit the story.
Brigit's face spoke of rage, erupting as it was from the corrupted heart of an Uratha touched by the teachings of Gurim-Ur. Reforged as it was for the path of the Urdaga, the truth nonetheless spoke of Brigit's differing viewpoint from others walking the path of Father Wolf.
Another fist aimed to collide against the teenager.
2 successes
Then a glance to her tribemate, "Get him out of here!" she hollered.
Soon the time may call for War Form and Brigit would prefer the Herd not know. If Tommy was possessed, he was another soldier in a war he was not destined for.
In the end, that didn't matter. They had a call to defend and hide their war for balance. If that meant Tommy needed to fall? So be it.
I appreciate the clarification, Mark . Thank you!
Hector is surprised when Bleeds Well makes a run to protect the child. He had expected the Rahu to jump right into the thick of it; and he had planned on protecting the child...
There was the lesson: Adapt...
The thing called Tommy is already being engaged by two of the pack. Bleeds Well is looking after the innocent.
Hector instantly shifts into Hishu and moves closer to the melee. He doesn't engage though, biding his time and waiting for his pack mates to create an opening...
If possible, Hector will spend his action aiming to generate a +1 bonus for his attack.
-1 Essence for instant shapeshifting to Hishu

Matt's defense is 2.
Brigit's attack hits Tommy with lethal force, the crushing blow lands on the boy with a satisfying crunch. Brigit can feel the cheekbone give a little under her assault. Still reeling he turns to see the hulking dire wolf bearing down on him with fangs bared. Tommy attempts to dive out of the way through an effort of will, but is not fast enough for the preternatural monster. Matt's teeth sink with satisfaction into the boy's midsection, he can feel Tommy's blood rush over his face in, the boy's pulse against his tongue. Matt's muzzle comes away, soaked and dripping with the foul creature's blood. Something about the blood doesn't taste right, but Matt is deep within the throes of battle, no time for contemplation.
Brigit deals 1L to Tommy. Tommy burns 1 willpower to raise defense by +2 against Matt's attack, making his defense -2 +2 against Matt. Matt deals 5L to Tommy. Matt please make a Comp+Res roll for Kuruth.
