Campanella has arrived early. As befitting a mystagogue - and one with the vaunted position of Hierarch at that - he has lit every single candle, lamp, and candelabra of this temple chantry. Incense burns in censors, casting an oily but pleasant smelling cloud through the nave and ancillary chapels of the old cathedral. One might suspect he has even cleansed the place with sage at some point as well, just for good measure.
Campanella has arranged seats in the nave into a rough circle. This is where the Consilium normally meets. He has provided a seperate seat for himself, facing the group and this he has wrapped in a rich cloth: this is the Hierarch's Chair and so far is the only indication of a structure to the society that is soon to gather and discuss the doings of their world.
Campanella is leaning against a simple and austere lectern upon which sits a large book. Whatever the text, it has absorbed Campanella who stands transfixed, fingers lightly tracing the pages of the book before he delicately turns a page.
Campanella is not in his robes tonight. He is dressed in a midnight blue suit with a cream shirt. The only sign of his position is a stole draped over his shoulders, adorned with atlantean markings.
Ah, yes. Seems boss-man is back in full swing. He looks a lot better than last time, his clothing is on point, and if he's got the energy to light all these lights and fill the entire Circle with herbal scents - these are sure signs of recovery. There weren't many decent people in the Diamond Orders, but Campy here was definitely one of them (despite his sometimes unnerving demeanor), so Shodan can't help but smile. Things are looking up again. The Obrimos is dressed in a gray suit, but with a cool silver twist.
The lectern is new, though - will it set the tone for the meeting? Seeing the Hierarch submerged in his read, the Libertine walks up to the circle of chairs, but doesn't sit or say anything, allowing the Moros to set the greetings at his own pace.
Besides, if you interrupted Shodan when he wields, say, a blowtorch, things would go south and fast. So going in gently is a favor he'd expect too.
She never did quite get why they all got together as often as they did. Sure, there was the sense of security knowing there were other Awakened around. Ones you could count on if you needed them. But was a monthly thing necessary?
Either way, she stopped by. She was out anyways, getting somethings done, exploring the city. All the exciting stuff people do. A light flowing dress was the attire for the day, she felt like dressing up for some reason. And it was comfy.
Walking in, it was obvious things were different. From the candles to the smells, something had changed. She spots Shodan and walks over, though the lack of any conversation going on was odd. The Enchantress looks from him, to Campanella then back. A question on her face as she sips her drink, were they not supposed to talk? Did she miss some memo?
Kaze arrives a little early only to find several people already arrived. He smiles at seeing the Hierarch looking better and in charge, having arranged the setting to his apparent default preference, to go by previous meetings. The continuity is reassuring.
The atmosphere is one of a church or a library. Despite being made in the image of a cathedral, Kaze doesn't conform to the environment of somber or perhaps contemplative silence.
"Hey everyone. Looks like we're getting an early start. Lots of new people last time, I hope they come back." Kaze says in a friendly, even enthusiastic tone.
He's wearing his traditional, casual outfit, a solid black cotton shirt and black trousers.
Cosmo enters the cathedral in the same black suit he wore last time. Maybe at some point he would get the money to be more creative, but for now it suited his purpose.
Eyes flick about the structure as he breathes in the incense that had burned his first time in the cathedral. The classic feel of the structure still felt defaced with what the others had done to it, and a grimace still formed for the few seconds his attention lingered on the wiring and cameras. Nothing about the feeling of being watched made Cosmo feel more comfortable, and nothing about this 'security' system made him feel safe. Unfortunately, until he could bind some muscle to back himself up he would have to deal with it.
"Hello." Cosmo smiled as he walked right past the seats, Shodan, October, and Kaze. "Reading anything good?"
Campanella does finish reading until Kaze and then Cosmo break the silence. He lifts his gaze, a slight smile gracing his sombre features as he recognises the little gathering. He looks back at the book as if mentally marking his position and closes it gently, one hand layingprotectivelyauthoritatively on the cover.
"Greetings. Please sit, or stand as is your connivence." This he aims at the group as a whole.
To Cosmo: "Yes. I believe so. I haven't had much of a chance to make a study it until now. Perhaps I should have stayed within the Athenaeum but the chamber is becoming a little too cluttered with mundane paraphernalia. Out her in the nave was much more suited to reflection. It is one of the few things we can boast of at present."
By 'we' Campanella meant Mysterium. The upheavals of recent years had resulted in the wholesale loss of Sacramento's Athenaeum; it had taken the Moros - and to some extent the Consilium as a while - years to acquire some things to compensate for that loss.
This was one of them.
A sign that there was an Athenaeum in the city once again. A sign that the Mysterium Order once again possessed arcane items. A sign that perhaps, a sense of normalcy was returning to Awakened society, despite the ructions of the Time-War and the arrival of a mysterious ally who had claimed a whole portion of the city as their own.
Of course, cunningly, the Hierarch's words could also have been taken to include the Consilium as a whole.
Anima hesitates outside the door, listening to the voices within for a moment. He steadies himself with a breathe and then enters.
The unassuming man is dressed in khakis and green polo with sensible leather shoes and a backpack slung over his shoulder. If it wasn't for the thinning hair on his head he could easily be mistaken for a frat boy at the local university. He glances around the room, relieved to see Shodan. At least another Libertine is present, that is some relief. Not wanting to interrupt he quickly makes his way to the circle of chairs and takes a seat with all the aire of a drowning man seeking refuge on some floating driftwood. He pulls out a notepad and a pencil from his bag, and waits.
The others start to pour in, and they receive a collective nod of greeting from Shodan "Hope y'all are doing okay"
But the reallyconceringinteresting part was how the Hierarch acted. How he keeps his hand on the book's cover, as if thinking one of the others might snatch it away. How he keeps the details about it vague. Then again, if he wanted the volume to remain a secret, the Moros wouldn't bring it here. So, there must be other motives. Like saying 'My Atheneum is so full I literally don't have the space to keep all the cool shit in, so I brought the book here and all you non-Mysterium dweebs can suck it' without actually speaking the words.
"So... what's the book about?" He wanted to boast? The Moros can boast all he wants.
Shodan's attention is pulled to the balding guy at the door. Could it be the man he spoke to on the phone? Only one way to find out!
"Hey! Can we help you?"
Kinda glad to have someone talking she offers a small wave,
Hi Kaze. Greets the Enchantress.
And there was Mr Personality, she wondered if today would be a productive meeting, or more of the same.
Nodding, she sits, because when you work on your feet for hours to days on end, sitting was nice. Eyes flick to the book in question, then back to Campanella.
Well, was nice to see a new face enter, as unremarkable as he was. And quiet. But, whatever.
Shrugging to Shodan, Cant really complain, you?
As Mobius entered the chamber she picked up on the subtle scents of sage and other incense, it was nostalgic, and reminded her of home, forcing a small smile to her lips. She stopped for a moment to gaze over those in attendance, some she had already met no matter how briefly, and one new face. Breathing a small sigh to release the anxiety that always seemed to come with picking your spot in classroom, she settled on getting a seat as close to the Hierarch as was available. More out of a sense of connection to her Order than the Consilium at this point, but some times you could get a 'two for one' brown-nose situation.
"Hierarch, I'm glad to see you're looking well." she said, tensely, forcing herself to be more formal than usual, though it wasn't especially convincing. She also gave a nod and a quick wave to the others who she had spoken with before, namely Shodan and Kaze. The First Talon from last time hadn't arrived yet? Mobius expected that she was the type to be bright and early. Finally, the Hierarch's book catches her attention, and she instinctively cranes her neck to try to discern what it is, never able to suppress her curiosity.
