Step and turn and step and twist and leap and step and duck and weave...the dancer's moves where flawless. It was a rehearsal that not a one of them needed. But she needed it. She needed to see how they had fared during her absence. To see if they were pining for her returning and letting it slip into their preformance and dragging down the quality of her theater. But if they were then, they were not now.
Spin and drop and glide and lift and throw...
And yet, despite their perfect routine, the butterflies crawling in her stomach would not go away. Everything was still so wrong. Lifting a careless hand the dancers ground to a halt and turned to where she sat, but a few rows up from the stage.
"That will be all for tonight thank you. You all did marvolous- I think I may need to change our show just to keep it challenging for you," she said- her light tone hiding her true emotions. A spattering of laughs came from the dancers and they began to make their way backstage. Leaving her alone with her thoughts.
She had left in a hurry yes, she had not truly expected to return home to a city exactly as it had been before true, but this? Elle was gone. Freddrick was gone. She felt as though she were a neonate again, coming to Sacramento for the first time in her unlife. What had happened in so short a time, and more importantly- how did it affect her? Well sitting here was going to get her nowhere. She needed to talk to someone to get the information she needed. That was exactly what Harpies were for.
