When she awakens, Delia can tell it is dark outside. She notices the flickering light of the muted television, which she'd left on when daysleep took her. She sees a blonde reporter onscreen and is about to focus on getting ready for the night when the picture onscreen changes. It shows a photo of a handsome, clean-cut young man Delia recognizes as Brad, who she'd met at Club Inferno the night before and who had walked her back to the hotel. She grabs for the remote and turns on the sound.
Poor Brad... Delia is in shock. Terror and guilt froze her. She is sitting in the bed looking towards the tv but her eyes are not focused. Her hands are frantically rubbing against each others. What am I gonna do? My position is not one of the bests. I'm the last person seen with him. Before he...
As her minds starts to plan on what to do she stands up and walks around the room.
After a while Delia goes to the window. With a hasty movement she pushes the curtain aside and she searches for the parking lot she saw in the tv report to check whether she might be able to see something. After a while she closes back the curtain and she goes to her bag pack. From she draws her make up and an outfit for the night and then she starts to prepare herself for the night.
Ten minutes later she is walking down the corridor outside her room towards the elevator with one goal in mind: I have to find the Prince.
Looking outside, Delia sees the parking lot she saw on TV. Indeed, she is able to look right down on the area in the back corner of the lot. The back lot is mostly empty except for police vehicles. She sees a couple people going around with powerful flashlights, searching the area adjoining the lot, though for what she can't tell.
Delia is able to get her things packed and get out of her room, but as she heads toward the elevator, it opens and three people get off the elevator. She remembers one of them from last night, as he was the desk clerk when she checked in, but the others she doesn't recognize.
One of them is a Latino man, about 5'10" and built like a boxer, complete with a nose that's obviously been broken a couple times. He looks to be in his mid-30s and has short, curly black hair and wears a cheap suit and blue dress shirt. The other is a tall, sharply-dressed Caucasian woman wearing in neat black slacks and blazer over a white blouse. She has a fit build, shoulder-length platinum-blonde hair, blue eyes and a deep tan and looks to be probably around 40 years old.
The desk clerk points at Delia, and the other two look at her.
As soon as Delia sees the desk clerk inside the elevator she knows that troubles are coming. As she notices the other two people in the elevator she can't help but wonder whether they are kine or kindreds. When the clerk points at her she can't do nothing else but approach the trio with confidence coming from the fact that she is innocent. "Good evening. How may I help you?" Delia says to the clerk and the two guests.
The woman opens her jacket and takes out a little wallet, which she opens, showing a badge and a police ID. "Detectives Bryant and Ramirez, Sacramento PD. We'd like to ask you a few questions, Miss..."
As Delia sees the badge she knows that she's facing kine. "Smith, Delia Smith" Delia says to the woman. "I'll be glad to help the Sacramento Police so just ask."
"Not at all." Delia escorts the two officers in her room. Once inside she sits on a chair and then she signals her guests to sit down on the near by sofa. "So now that we are in private. How may I help you officers?" She says with a confident tone of voice.
The woman, Bryant, takes a seat on the sofa, while the male detective, Ramirez, remains standing, sort of off to the side between Bryant and Delia. He takes a photo out of his jacket pocket and shows it to Delia. "Do you know the man in this picture, Miss Smith?" he asks.
The photo is of Brad. It's not the same photo she saw on TV, but it's a similar one, of him dressed casually, a big smile on his face.
"That's Brad..." Delia says after few seconds: " I met him at a club. He's a nice guy. He escorted me here to the hotel late last night. He asked me on a date tonight. Why do you ask?"
