Tribulation and the Beast

Hector wakes with a suddenness as though breaking from a trance, his smile is both in pleasure and pain as his mind cobbles together his experience before last sleeping and while asleep. "Thank you for the acknowledgment my lady, glad to show I'm able to withstand yet another." His words flow as though a reverent pray while he begins to sit up slowly as though gaining his bearings in a new place. He looks over his body first noting the lack of scars the worms should have left, maybe just upon the soul then he thought, and noting the raging beast trying it's chain now that he was weakened. A moment of concentration and he snuffed the cries and snarls to nothing as he'd learned some time ago to ensure his own survival. That being done he looked about the crappy motel 6 room that lied a ways out of Sacramento proper and smiled as he noted the day, paying more than the intended stay was as always beneficially prudent.

It was the kind of place that the broken and used up came to die while hoping to lie themselves into believing it was only for a short time, perfect for come and go, as it was often the case so no one would likely remember him. Getting up he stretched and then began a hard scrubbing of himself with the floor brush from his bag to help him focus the cleansing ritual, his beast perked up again as though to remind him of being hungry and battered which only made him scrub harder and focus on obliterating the beasts presence. Once satisfied with his current state he spent the next half an hour meditating on his most recent encounter with the divine, attempting to recollect and gain more insight, none was coming beside his hunger which he knew needed to be tended to immediately but he made it wait.

He methodically collected his things together and dressed in some of his disposable clothes, sweats and a light hooded jacket perfect for the shady dealer look. Taking out a well hidden small bag of laced speed, he placed it in the jacket pocket and ensured it's tie was loose. Making some last adjustments and laying out a nice set of clothes on the bed he leaves his room making sure to lock it behind him. He doesn't have to go far as he'd noticed them a couple weeks ago when he first scouted the place and then again the last night he went to sleep, they were regular tenants, a severely dysfunctional married couple and hardcore junkies, Hector also had his suspicions of their shady roommate but he'd know soon enough.

The filthy door opened after a couple minutes while Hector did his best to look bored, not to hard a job although he did not some bass based music coming from within the room itself, subdued as it was. The woman was large and ugly, that was being kind, she just scowled at Hector who honestly considered asking for another dose of worms before dealing with this. the music grew in volume as well, likely from the back of the apartment. Instead, "I've come to understand you and yours may be more appreciative of what I have to offer." He put the full force of his charm behind his words as he also ensured she saw the small bag he produced from the jacket, her eyes were testament enough and indicated with his hand he'd like to enter while looking about as though to make sure no one was watching. She moved back enough to let him into the more aptly named cave of filth, when it rains it pours he thought, her eyes never left the small bag of magical snow.

As the door closed a scrawny man, more really a skeleton, came from out of one of the rooms, not the one with music, who with squinted eyes suspiciously asked in a mean scratchy voice, "What's going on here?" The skeleton man looked about ready to go grab something more menacing than himself when Hector simply indicated his magical bag of snow with the reward of the starved look coming across the mans face, his wife's having already been plastered on her own face. Hectors smile was well placed as he said in his most innocent offer voice, "Perhaps you'd like a taste first before we go into more detail?" They're looks and shying away so as to make a path for him to the kitchen qualified enough for an answer. He moved in a bit of a shuffle and only a fool, or junkie, would've realized it for the fake it was as Hector accidentally tripped forward barely catching himself but not his bag of goodness which exploded into a small snow flurry upon the disgusting ground. Faster than the rays of sunlight the two junkies were attempting their damnedest to snort, lick or otherwise inhale the precious white stuff upon their floor, Hector shook his head at the ease of the play upon anothers beast as he brought his foot smashing down on first one's head and then the other who didn't even look up in their attempt to get the drug of their undoing. He made quick short work of each as he didn't want to risk a real high, he was well sated between the two but far from done as he looked at the now unconscious and shallow breathing couple.

Hector then took the time to make a more elaborate set of rituals with the provided participants, he of course could do the short and quick version but being as they helped him in his recovery of such a huge event it was only fair he take the little risk. "I offer up this token to Hecate so that those foolish enough to take what is not theirs shall pay well." He sliced the pattern for the goddess into his left arm with his finger razor, perfect for the job, and bled upon the filthy carpet which seemed to drink it hungrily. He followed quickly with the second."This Sacrifice I give to Odin so that I may be protected in my wisdom from those that would bind me." Like the first but for the new symbol being upon the right arm.

Having completed his rituals he covered up his arms again and looked to the kitchen then to the room with music, cocking his head to the side he considered. Best deal with the last before tending to the mundane stuff. He walked over to the door to the room with music and checked it, unlocked which quickly changed to open. Surveying the room before him Hector sighed as he looked upon the newly lifeless body of a young boy, he could also see the steam through the open bathroom door indicating the shower was on, he could barely hear the sound of it over the music. It was quick and terrifying but the man didn't have a chance as he was drained and then beaten into unconsciousness. Turning off the shower he headed to the kitchen to find the necessary components.

A very short time later Hector left the scene which would undoubtedly be taken for a pair of junkies and a serial child killer killed by overdose of speed laced with deadly amounts of household crystallized dish cleaner, other possible evidence likely ignored as cops aren't known for their sympathy of such people. He made a short stop in his old room changed, packed his shady clothes in the bag and left to see the sights of the city of Sacramento.

    Narration:
In his callous viciousness, a bit of Hector's humanity slips away without him realizing it.

((ST Note: Hector needs to roll 5 dice (new Humanity score) to determine whether he develops a derangement along with his degeneration.))
