(Hedge Storm) The Battle

Slow, too slow. He hadn't been able to figure out what had happened quickly enough, and Autumn Three had paid the price for it. The first to die in this battle, and it had happened under his direct command.

The mantle of leadership always rested heavily upon a King's shoulder.

"It's fast, looks like it can snag anything that gets to close." And he didn't even want to consider the entirety of what happened once it got a hold of somebody. "I'm not sure the army can handle it if it reaches them on the ground...how many of those firebombs do we have?"

"Enough to roast small units but the gel inside sticks like napalm and don't spread easily. Tickle's trying to get word to the General about the Hedge but the army has started its advance as you can see...."

The radio crackles as Autumn One's voice cuts through the Lieutenant's.

"Contacts! Two o'clock!"

Coming from an angle, Rick could make out several smaller creatures flapping towards his unit with huge wings, wide mouths lined with shark-like teeth and eagle talons on hind legs. They appeared to be veined blue crystal in hue and hard to make out as they blended into the skyline.

Each manoeuvre requires a Dexterity + Athletics/Drive + 1 Handling roll to navigate the combat.
A glider can move up to 15 yards per turn, increasing this means making a manoeuvre roll, each success adding 2 yards.
To attack with the repeating crossbow requires lining up the target with a manoeuvre roll that add to the Dexterity + Firearms roll if fired in the following turn. If fired early, the successes do not stack and if a failure is rolled to line up a shot, the target is out of the glider's arc of fire.
Repeating crossbow: Damage 2, Range 35/70/140, Capacity 15, capable of short and medium bursts of automatic fire.

As the crystaldactyls get closer, one peels away and heads straight for Rick's glider, roughly 50 yards away.

"Copy that, stay sharp." Rick's head craned around to catch a view of the incoming bogies, and his initial urge to put his glider though its paces was checked ruthlessly. He had a fair idea of what he could do in the air, best to get an idea of what they could do before beginning the chess match that was aerial combat.

Besides, the one coming after him was too far away to reach him before he could react...probably.

Rick will hold his action.
