Nightfall carefully squeezed off two more shots, at two different spiders...

Jack and Xerxia are up
Lamplight glooped (1 suxx)
One of the spiders is blown from the ceiling, leaving a tar-like substance dripping to the floor. The second spider, the one looking down upon Xerxia, staggers back as Nightfall's second shot smacks heavily into its torso, causing it to hiss in obvious pain. Still, it pounces downwards, its maw fang catching Xerxia's shoulder as the remaining three drop and attack also. Two go for the good Doctor and Nightfall, but only one manages a small bites on Jack. The final spider dashes to meet Terri, who avoids its attack and smiles as she rolls a small wooden pellet in her slingshot. As she fires it down upon the wolf-sized, eight-legged Hedge beast, the pellet blossoms with small thorns that punch hard into the spider's back, causing a nasty welt.
Shadow Spiders: DEF 4
Rolls
Xerxia manages to maneuver enough to only get nicked by the spider above her. She flows elegantly from the dodge* into a focused attack, slicing first with her right, which strikes true, and whirling around with her left, which misses the beast.
Rather nimble for such a large thing...
Footnote & rolls; *2L* with FS:2WF (3) Focused Attack
Jack's hands bleed even more profusely as he uses the innate ability of his kind to be as swift and dexterous as possible. The catches every tiny movement and responds in a fraction of a second, yet the spider attacking him is faster still. Feeling his first swing with the knife fail to connect with the shadowy beast, the good doctor puts all of his effort into the second slash with the blade.

Jack and Xerxia are up
The spider facing Nightfall collapses as the bullet tears away its skull, an oily-shadow blossoming out from its brain cavity like a stained flower. The second bullet rips through two of the legs of the spider attacking Xerxia, tearing them off violently and causing the spider to fall to the floor, bleeding out while making pitiful mewling sounds as dark gloop drools from its maw.
Over the way, Sparks manages to pry Sergeant Lamplight free of the gloop. Harvey, dropping his blunderbuss runs to assist Jack, quickly drawing a large machete that was strapped to his back. He rarely liked to use it, precious as it is. Not in any Wyrd way, oh no, but because it reminded him to much of that place and the things he was once forced to do.
Well, kinda forced. Somewhere deep, fucking deep, down inside, he still enjoyed it.
The machete swung and where it connected with the spider facing Jack, a spray of dark blood squirted across the cavern floor. With a screech, it turned and took a chunk out of the Fairest-wannabe, leaving a visibly nasty bite in Harvey's leg. The final spider leaps at Terri before she can fire another pellet, using her trained athleticism to get out of the way, rolling into a crouch.
Stuff
Jack slashes his kukris with surgical precision in an attempt to clear the tunnel of any more of the creeping shadowy spider-things. Afterward, Jack glances at his comrades, just to make sure that none of them are dead... again.
Slice and Dice
Xerxia, spotting out of the corner of her eye that Dr. Jack was handling the spider menacing Harvey, leaps to aid Terri, pinpointing her strikes at the same area of the spider to put more grievous wounds into the sinister shadow. She misjudges the beast with her main hand, but follows up with better success with her off.
2L to Terri's spider; Focused Attack again
Following up on Xerxia's assistance with Terri, two of the clockwork soldiers stab the spider with their katars, making it sluggish. Corporal Sparks, trying to also help, finds she is squeezed out by the others but it matters not as the shadow spider collapses through blood loss.
Meanwhile, Harvey brings the machete hard down on the spider that bit him, puncturing deep and killing the creature. The cavern is left in the post-fight lull as soldiers head to watch the tunnels that had been so casually broken through. Sergeant Lamplight looks livid.
"Bloody spiders! How the hell did they sneak through?!" Sparks shrugs as she re-sheathes her katar. "Not sure, sir, but I recommend immediate recon into the tunnels to check for anymore. If they have gotten this far, well, who knows what damage they've caused."
Lamplight nods, and looks to the fae. "Good fighting. Looks like we could be getting more. Nightfall, Xerxia, Nutkins, Carlton, I want you four to head into tunnel two, scout for anything awry. Sparks, Harvey, and myself will head through tunnel one. Any questions?"

End of combat time
Nightfall looked curiously around, until deciding 'Carlton' was the Spring Jack. He nodded, holstering his pistols and drawing blades. The tunnels would most likely be too tight to shoot without serious risk to collateral damage, and deafening them all to boot.
And he liked his blades.
Moving closer to Jack and Xerxia, he glanced at the punctures, looking for signs of poison...
...not that he could do anything about it, but it might be worth coating his blades with it from the spider corpses.
