Calling upon that Wyrd part of their nature that remembers what lies on the other side of the gate... and hungers to return... each of the men steps forward and attempts to activate a gate that might already exist beneath the bridge. Unfortunately, not one of them is able to form a strong enough connection to their own otherness to do so.

Bert stands there in front of the potential gate that he thought was there and waits for it to open. After what feels like hours, his ears lower as the doorway to the hedge refuses to open if it's even there at all. Part of him wants to turn and apologize to the other two and walk back but then he remembers the sick little girl he followed Jack to and how sick she felt. Then he remembers Jack with HAL, tired and too busy to even join in on something that he himself was invested in, he couldn't for whatever reason which meant that if Bert turned back...it would not be taken care of. That was sorrow, but not the good kind. Sorrow was even sadder when apathy followed it.
Still standing before the gate, Bert losed his eyes and called upon the power of his Wyrd again, focusing on that sorrow he thought about moments earlier and tried utilizing it to open a gate to the market.

Expending a mote of Sorrow, Bert demands entrance into the Hedge as he remembers the good doctor had done with the van. Thorns erupt on the other side of the access drain, but there does not seem to be any sort of path through the overgrown Briars.
Spartan walks around pacing, Frustrated and angry. He was worried about the children and angry that the gate was not opening and he was banned from the side of the hedge. Especially when it was one of the few times he actually wanted to cross the gate. Spartan's furious wrath expanded outward expelling power into where Burt thought the gate was.

Enzo grumbles when he cant feel the Wyrd respond to his call, but then again, it was a bitch to him anyway, he thought bitterly, remembering its betrayal in the Hedge Duel. He shook his head, letting his frustration channel inwards, building to a white hot core of raging wrath before pushing it outwards, letting the Hedge feel his Wrath come forth in an attempt to open the gate in the spot that Jack believed it to be. "Open Sesame bitch." He growls almost to himself.

Enzo opens the gate between the entwined trees and sees a faint path that winds its way into the Thorns. Spartan, however, notices that the shadow of the bridge cast upon the water by the overhead lights looks more solid than the surrounding water. So solid in fact, that he is certain that it will support his weight if he were to step upon it.
Spartan says out loud, "I got something here." Spartan steps a lightly onto what looks to be the solidified water.

Bert looks at his failed attempt in revealing a gate and his shoulders slump, until he hears Spartan say he's found something and walks to join his fellow Ogre, stopping when he sees spartan stepping into the water. "Whatcha got Spartan?"
"The Water is solid." Spartan says trying to see if his foot finds purchase on the top of the water.

The Ogre finds that the dark reflection of the bridge is indeed quite solid. However, as he places his foot on the water, to Bert and Enzo's eyes, Spartan appears to plunge beneath its surface, inexplicably disappearing into the shadow.
