Delia heads back to her hotel - the downtown Econo Lodge - escorted by the handsome young man she met at Club Inferno, a local college student named Brad. He seems to be a nice guy. As they walk along, Brad points out various sites of interest - good restaurants and bars, the best pizza place in the area and so forth - and talks a little bit more about his summer internship in the California State Budget Office. As they approach the hotel, he asks Delia "So, what sort of work do you do?"
"Well, I used to be in Med school but I dropped out. You know it wasn't my thing. Afterward I have switched jobs a couple of times and now that I'm moving I had to give up my last job. You could say that I'm a bit of a free spirit. I hope that here everything will be a bit more stable." Delia says as she walks by his side.
After a while she says: "Sacramento seems to be fun. Tell me: What's the best club in town?" She figured that the most frequented club would also a good feeding ground for the kindreds of the city and if she wanted to meet them she should also head there sometime soon maybe tomorrow night.
Brad thinks for a moment before replying. "Well, the place we met, Club Inferno, it's sort of the new hot place of the moment. Kind of a wild crowd, but it attracts a pretty wide bunch of people, so I suppose you're going to get that.
"Then there's the Rage. I don't think anywhere in town even comes close to matching the sound and light systems there. It's not as wild and out-there as Inferno, but it's got its own vibe to it... real upbeat. I've never heard of anyone going there and not having a good time."
He thinks for a moment. "There are some real upscale places I've never been, but hear are real nice. Like the Avalon." He grins. "Then there's this place called the Asylum, I hear it's a s&m club, supposed to be pretty wild if you're into that sort of thing. Never been there, either."
Brad shrugs. "There's lots of other places, like college hangouts near Sac U, but they're not near as busy or as cool as Rage or Inferno."
Delia listens carefully making a note in the back of her brain to check out at least one of one of those clubs tomorrow and then she says: "You won't see me in the Asylum anytime soon. I don't like s&m clubs. The other places sound good though."
Brad nods. "Yeah, the s&m isn't my thing, either, but I thought I'd mention it just for, y'know, completion sake." He pauses for just a moment, then adds "If you'd like to try out one of the other ones tomorrow night, I'd be up for that."
"I'd love that." Delia says and then smiles as few memories of her life came flooding back in her mind.
After a moment of silent she resumed the conversation: "So where would you like to go? The Rage or the Avalon?"
"I might." She says smiling and she advances a few steps. Then she turns facing him and says:"It all depends on whether this night will end with the right note."
