Narration: Everyone manages to get through the gateway before the mirror closes up. Al-Adin has entered last, and comes through with a soft whimper. The littlest bit of the tip of his tail is gone, and he's dripping blood all over his hands as he looks at his tail is disbelief and shock.
Arch throws him a bandanna and glares at Betony Rue. However, she doesn't say a word, since she doesn't want to attract any attention from anyone who might be home at the Crandell residence.

The Jasons woman's face shows no emotion. Regret, concern, or any other. It doesn't show the realization of what she did and how it might have almost torn apart the mission, the sadistic pleasure of seeing Al-Adin hurt, the guilt at having caused it, or the still burning rage at the proud Hedge Warden. Betony too remains silent.

Al-Adin is about to bitch and moan about the pain and the tail and the blood, but he's distracted by all the shiny things in the kid's room. Taking the bandana, he starts to put it on his head, but then realizes what its for, and staunches his poor tail. It'll grow back...hopefully.

As soon as he's sure everyone got through, Derek approaches Betony Rue and says, very quietly, "That part's done. Now the real mission starts. Let's see if we can figure out how to go back through the mirror from this side, to wherever the kids were taken."
He turns and studies the mirror, attempting to determine if it is currently an active gate.
At first he has trouble focusing, but he then takes a moment to put his will to the task.
Hedge Gate Sense

Grrface endeavors to remain quiet and still. He doesn't want to alert the denizens of the house to their presence. The investigation part was delicate business, and it wasn't his forte. He tiptoes over to the door, gently locking it if he can.

|
Arch shakes her head no at Grrface, and mimes unlocking the door. If Derek can open up the mirror, they won't be coming back. At least, not through the same gate.
Narration: It's clear to Derek that this mirror is an active Hedge gate.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Derek says to the others, quietly, "It's a Hedge gateway. I'm going to try to open it. Get ready to go through."
Derek attempts first to call upon the Wyrd, but he finds his connection to the Wyrd is not strong enough.
Derek rolls against Wyrd
So, instead he expends a bit of Glamour while saying "Please let us through" to the mirror. His reflection ripples and disappears, replaced by a view into the Hedge.
"Let's go," he says.

Al-Adin jumps through. He's not loosing more of his tail for delaying.
