"It would appear that at very least, he drew their attention," Derek says. "Maybe he realized what he'd found, or maybe the Keeper or its agents decided to eliminate him without his actually having learned anything. Either way, it suggests the Keeper was behind the strange event that happened at the mall... which makes sense with this connection to ears. I'm guessing it often acts, at least in part, by manipulating what people hear."

Let's hope Tim did find something," Derek adds. "That way, we may have some leads, and that way Tim won't have died for nothing."

Terri looked at the laptop while listening to Derek, making a face to the runes scratched around the office.

"Crunk broke a pledge?" she asks, voice showing serious surprise at this. "Any ideas what it was?"

Nightfall shook his head to show that he didn't know either.

"When I asked, a couple of times, he was pretty vehement about dodging the question..."

Seemed like a lot of people were doing that.

"Crunk says it was the Pledge he and the other Sovereigns took," Derek says. "He didn't say the specifics of the Pledge, other than to say they'd sworn the Oath on the names of their Keepers."

Nightfall looked at Terri.

If Crunk wasn't going to be more forthcoming, the obvious question was which of the other Sovereigns they would ask.

"I could ask HAL. Shit, looks like we havn't got much option," she adds before looking at Nightfall. "Unless you wish to try your Queen?"

Nightfall considered the question. While he wasn't thrilled with the idea of asking the Queen, he realized that they needed the information one way or another. With the whispers and suggestions of Katrin's apathy following the Iceland shooting, maybe this would be a chance for her to still those suggestions.

Not that she needed to -- the Silent Arrow weren't apologists, nor demonstrators... and the Seasons were changing.

Still, it bothered him that some did not pay her the respect she was due.

Nightfall nodded. "I will ask her."

"Cool. Hopefully, the Queen will be easier than my King." She shudders at the thought of having a chat about an apparent pledge made between the Sovereigns. Eeek, she thought.

"Anyway, back to Tim. Shall we?" she says, looking to Derek. It was his gig anyway.
