Terri leads Derek and Nightfall not far from the restaurant to an office somewhere nearby. Standing outside the door which is marked simply as 'Conference Room 3', the Autumn Beast turns to them both.
"Ready?"
"Yes," Derek says, about as ready as he can be, given that he's never really interacted with the Autumn Sovereign before.
Terri knocks politely on the door and waits.
"Come in-stroke-enter," is the reply, the android-voice of the Autumn King echoing from within. What that voice sounds like under the Mask would be anyone's guess.
Opening the door, Terri stands aside to allow Nightfall and Derek to enter, closing it behind them and standing as close to it as possible. Inside, HAL sits in a large leather chair before a dark wooden desk. Lining the walls are several shelves with all manner of folders and binders, organized to the point of perfection. Behind HAL's desk is a second door.
Standing as they enter, he wears the same grey suit as always, red pinprick eyes boring deep into each of the Fairest as the lines of light race across his dark skin.
"Ah, Derek, Nightfall. How may the Ashen Court be of assistance this day?"
"One of our kind was killed, Your Majesty," Derek says. "A fellow named Tim. He was involved in some odd business at the mall, drawing Glamour from his control of the mall's music system, but someone had implanted sublimiinal messages within some of the music, including a message urging those at the mall to attack our kind. The fellow claimed to know nothing of this, but said he would look into it.
Tim was killed in a gruesome manner, mystic symbols and runes written in blood at the scene. I've been looking into the death, and an associate managed to get hold of his laptop, thinking that since he was something of a tech guy, anything he found might be on there. Unfortunately, I have no great skill with computers, nor do any of the others of the Spring Court. So, I seek your assistance in this matter, that it might be determined whether this matter presents further danger to our people." After a pause, he adds "I may be wrong, but given the nature of the subliminal message, I can't help but suspect the Others are involved in this somehow."
Nightfall entered, and gave Fear's exemplar a low bow. Ascendant or not, the Seasonal Sovereigns held the pact of the Freehold true and that pact protected them all.
He waited patiently as Derek explains the goings-on and gave a simple nod to show his agreement, and that this, too, is why he is here.
Aside from the curiosity.
The Autumn Sovereign listens, intently. His eyes dialate as the lines increase in speed and he drums his fingers at several keywords; Glamour, mystic symbols, subliminal, Others.
HAL looks across to Terri, who shrugs. Clearly, this is the first she's heard of it also. Looking back to Derek, he slowly nods.
"Very well, Derek Noble, you have my interest-stroke-curiosity. You have the laptop." It was not a question and more of a statement. If Derek did not have it on him, this was one wasted meeting.
While he waits for a reply, HAL removes his phone and sends a text without looking, thumb moving in a blur.
"Yes, yes, I do," Derek says, bowing and then taking the laptop from the carrying case. He walks forward to present it to the Autumn Sovereign.
