Konstantin and Jayant's route toward the Stardust rendezvous approaches the motel from the other direction. Before the sputtering neon comes into view, they both notice something exceptionally odd- a moped speeding down the shoulder of the highway at a clip of ten miles per hour, give or take five. Errr...better make that 'take.'
Even odder? That moped is coming towards them, not away. They're driving on the wrong side of the highway.

Konstantin growls, wishing he had his spear with him, and activates Resilience. The expended Vitae thickens and hardens his flesh, giving his skin a slightly leathery appearance.

"Hmmm, how strange," Jayant says, bracing himself against the dashboard. If this ruined his hunt, he was really going to be vexed.

|
As we near the answer to that classic word problem of time and distance, our hunters can see that the moped is carrying two helmeted passengers- one gangly, one husky. Fatboy's head is turned backwards, one arm gripping skinny tight, the other holding a baseball bat aloft. Konstantin and Jayant notice a dark shadow behind the moped, moving so fast they really only see a dark blur. It appears to be but a few moments from overtaking the boys.
"IT'S GAINING ON US! C'MON, LLEW, GET THE LEAD OUT!"
"SHUT UP, DJ! WE'D GO FASTER IF YOU WEREN'T SO FAT!"
"I'M HUSKY, GODDAMIT! DON'T CALL ME FAT!"
approx distance is 15M for moped, 30M for shadow

As he sees the shadow, Jayant is even more bemused and brings up his Night Sight to shed some more light on the subject.

Here is what Jayant's Ob-ten-a-whatsit reveals:
Llew and DJ's pimply, pubescent faces screaming in pants-wetting terror. The dark blur slowing to pounce, becoming a blood-soaked, clothes-torn, frenzying Kindred. A metal bat swung in desperation, just as Jayant and Konstantin's superior Beasts capture its attention, so that it turns its head into the swing and crumples to the ground.
"YEAH, BITCH! I'M LIKE BARRY BONDS AND SHIT! I GOT THE JUICE BABY!" they hear the fat one yell as the moped...um...speeds away.
"IT'S GETTING BACK UP!"
"GOGOGO!!!"
"I THOUGHT YOU HAD THE JUICE?!?"
"WOULDYOUSHUTUPANDGO!"
Etcetera. In fact, Llew and DJ needn't be worried at all. The blow didn't knock the crazy bastard out of his frenzy, but he's forgotten all about them. Enthusiastic to make your acquaintance instead, he reaches out for the door handle.
