Alex stood silently, watching the exchange. This didn't involve him. He was here as a show of solidarity, nothing more.
Solidarity he wasn't sure he felt.
After all, his calling was the hospital. His last pack, they had improved the area around the hospital -- both sides of the gauntlet -- for the hospital's benefit. He did things with the Seekers because those things needed doing. Power and responsibility and all that. But what he chose to do, what he loved doing... that left him firmly in the halls of the hospital. And yet... Alex couldn't walk away from either responsibility.
'Those who have the power to make a difference, need to.'
And even as he wrestles with the rift inside himself, his face belies no hint of his own division. He merely stands silently, observing.
