Okey-Dokey's Carnevale: The Goblin Market

The swan boats glide across the lake with a natural ease towards the island in the centre. Those on board who actually look into the water notice that a pair of webbed swan feet are propelling the boat's occupants forwards at a remarkable pace.

Nearing the island, the music begins to grow in intensity and lights start to illuminate as the buzz of the Carnevale takes control. It feels exciting and contagious but the fae know this is still technically part of the Hedge and therefore dangerous and unpredictable.

The swans dock at a small jetty, allowing their occupants to depart, giving a little honk as the changelings do. Damp, wooden planks gently slope and lead up to reveal a large, fluttering banner-arch in gold and red which declares:

Okey-Dokey's Travelling Carnevale of Fun & Frivolous Frolics

Standing, dressed in red and gold stripes like the entrance and wearing a top hat, is a short humanoid hobgoblin with light green-grey skin and silver teeth. He is beaming. His teeth glint in the starlight. When he speaks, his voice is crisp and loud.

“Roll up, roll up and welcome Ladies and Gentlefolk. Come one and all, enter if you please and may Cupid pierce your main cardiac organ with arrows of desire, hope and lust. Take time to converge with our many glorious traders and merchants while taking in the many, many wonderful sideshows. All I ask is that no violence befall this night and you stick to your deals. If any trouble arises, then I am afraid you will be asked to leave.” On that note, a couple of large hobgoblin brutes appear beside their shorter kin. Resembling massive gorillas but with a bodybuilder's physique and the lower jaw of a shovel-tusked bulldog. The shorter hob continues, still smiling that silver smile.

“I am Okey-Dokey, your host and most humble servant. Enter now, Sirs and Dames, and for one night only, enjoy!”

With a flourish and a bow, Okey steps aside, allowing the fae ready to enter.

Market stalls and sideshows are arranged sporadically, tents and marquees in red and gold stripes waiting. Many different hobs and fae creatures loiter and hover and crowd as the market and carnevale is already in full swing. Music plays, food is cooked and drink poured. Games are played and Glamour exchanged. All that is needed now, is for the residents of Sacramento to get themselves involved for one weird and wonderful night.

This thread is open for you each to do as you please. If there is anything you are after to purchase, go look for it. If there is a certain sideshow that you would like to try, go find it. If it exists it is here. If it looks or acts like the mundane world's version, is another question....

Asia walks under the banner and into the carnivale looking around with wide eyes and obvious wonder. This is her first Market visit and the place is bigger and a hell of a lot busier then she expected.

She isn't really sure which direction to start in, so she stays near the entrence and browses the stalls there for a time, wondering if anything will catch her eyes.

Terri stands close to Rick as they listen to this Okey character, her eyes darting to the pair of muscled hobs nearby. As soon as they can, she walks past and enters the market.

"Holy cow, this is manic," she says, stepping aside as all manner of fae people crowd and jostle.

Erica makes her way from stall to stall, area to area, smiling brightly as she considers everything, with no idea at all of what she might like, for now, she just explores and looks and keeps her eyes open.

"It's to be expected, I suppose. Hobgoblins wouldn't throw a Market on Valentine's day if they certain it could live up to the hype that the date would bring." Rick keeps a careful watch on the area around him as he spoke. There were those who utilized places where violence was prohibited in attempt to catch someone off guard. One didn't end up any less dead because they were stabbed in an area where there wasn't supposed to be violence after all. And one always had to treat hobs with care. "So...is there anything in particular you'd like to look for first?"

Enzo walks into Okey's and almost giggles with how excited he is. "Okay baby... first things first, and as they say, ladies first. So is there anything you want to check out first?" He asks with a bright smile.

The stalls near the entrance are quite small and dedicated to, more for a better word, mechandise.

There are caps, hats, banners, tees, dresses, slippers, flags, socks, underwear, balls, bracelets, posters, and toys all devoted to Okey-Dokey and his travelling market.

Its quite egotistical but it definetly draws in the Glamour.

Fu steps off the boat and listens to the hobgoblins speech. When the bigger goblins step up and show themselves he grins. Making his way into the market he watches the other Lost meander around. Not really interested in anything here he keeps an eye out.

Erica dismisses -those- stalls in an instant and moves on, hoping to spot something a little more exotic. She can't really see anything though.

Walking into the throng of the market, Marcus experiences a strong sense of deja vu. Having spent much of his Durance scouring them for precious oddities for The Shining Lady, he feels strangely at home. He quickly moves past the stalls of tack near the entrance, deeper into the maze of vendors. Looking for stalls stocked with goblin fruit and trifles to begin with, he will start with the easy stuff before moving on to the more hard-to-come-by fare.
