Sam inspects his tools once more while waiting for Jose. He was using Frank's shop today, a renovated house with separate rooms for the artists. It was slow in the shop, though Frank was somewhere at the front desk. He could hear his boots clomping on the wood floor.

The door opens as Jose enters with three of his crew, all wearing gang colours. Sam can hear their voices echoing through the house.

Sam walks to the front room.
"Jose, man, good to see you. Your tats treating you well?"
Sam glances at Jose's companions, trying to get a general sense of their mood.
|

|
Jose looks round and throws his hands up in the air.
"Yeah, man, they are still the best thing on the streets," he laughs, holding out his hand to shake. His crew are all nodding and joking along, all possessing a jubilent mood. Sam gets the general idea they may have started drinking already.
"So, you wanna see this fucking awesome design?" he excitedly asks Sam.

Sam let's himself relax and get into the artist frame of mind.
"Show me. It has been a while since I have seen awesome."

Jose takes out a scrap of plain paper and holds it out to Sam to take a look.
It is of a pointed ear with numerous runes and hieroglyphs around its edge.
"Yeah, bro, I wanted it on my chest," Jose says with a fist thump on his sternum, eager to get on.

Sam leans in close, scrutinizing the image.

The symbols are so convulted and confusing from a quick glance that Sam can only make out one word: Truth. It would take more intense study time with some books on ancient runes and hieroglyphs if he wanted to get some answers.

"Okay, Jose, you got me hooked. Follow me."
He takes the paper from Jose and studies it as he leads Jose and his boys to the room he had prepared.
"Squeeze in, guys, I don't mind. Jose, sit down and take off your shirt."
He gestures to the old destist's chair bolted to the center of the room.
"Where did you find these symbols, Jose?"

"Oh, ya know, here and there. Some of my bro's came to me telling me of this weird new tat they'd spotted. Hooked me up with it."
