In his time away A small que has formed people with various needs, some wanting tickets, others to book into different events or services, the phone goes twice which the receptionist needs to take further delaying the whole process, all the while the stunted and branching paths around him the frustration written into each taunt Philip with the mystery. The efforts he had expended the walls he had hit, the sheer desperation of his own temporal meddling.

Eventually he gets to the front of the que.

The receptionist gives him a professional and polite smile. ''Hello again. What else can I help you with?''

After standing in line for a while he finally got to the front. And he decided to take a different approach than with the cafe girl, and manipulate the receptionist with his wit and bluntness when it was his turn. He was there to get info after all and not to beat around the bush, and if this got him answers, the better.
"I know you just sold me a ticket and we just spoke, but the reason I came back was to ask a question. Because I`m just curious if it`s common for this place to be as booked out as it is?"
After a beat, with a new inspiration, he continued.
"Are Mr. Cartwright and the other top brass of this place expected to be attending this game by any chance? Is this game some milestone I`m not aware of, besides the obvious? I mean, you seem to be doing exceptionally well with the tickets, for this one."
he said sounding like a clueless fanboy, while gesturing to the ever-decreasing pile of remaining tickets that he could see were plastered with fate and woven with opacity, not that any mundanes would be aware of that. And he certainly didn`t feel like telling the receptionist about what he knew about the metaphysical significance of the coming game.

He favours Philip with a softer smile, and engages in a little multi tasking as she works on serving the que behind him while answering his questions.

''It didn't use to be this way sweetheart, but for the last year or so things have been picking up and up.'' There's a pause as she address the next person in line. ''It's been a real blessing to see the community coming together like this, such a niece change of pace to the usual stories you hear.'' This is followed by a deep sigh. ''Well for as long as it lasts anyway.'' Philips next question acts as a needed distraction from that line of thinking. ''He coaches the youth teams so I would certainly expect him to be. They have been doing ever so well recently its really inspired people to come and support them, especially given the news.'' She moves down to a whisper and doesn't call the next person forward immediately. ''Don't want the kids to blame themselves for it and all. Not their fault of course not at all , but you know what kids can be like getting silly ideas in their heads.'' Then turning the next in the que is called for forward and she continues to work through, unable to stop or else the backlog would swell.

After getting surprisingly much out of the receptionist, he was quite pleased with himself. A rare occurrence on that day, a job well done. His bluntness had gotten himself quite a bit of useful info out of her. Some of it moreso than others. And that was much to his surprise as he didn`t feel he acted much different with the Cafe girl Bekah. Then again, took me a while, but she led me to all those papers and signs. So I guess she was useful too. he thought reluctantly giving her the credit she was due, too. The chase for info being a lot more harrowing but also more rewarding with her.

And both interactions had left him wondering about the precise layout of the center, so he might be able to catch Mr. Cartwright later that evening, away from the scrutiny of the game and on his way to leave. Some of it had also been confirmations of what he knew, or expected. The receptionist`s info on the state of the games was certainly interesting, and reinforced the uncanny nature of the home team`s recent string of victories. Her mention of `silly ideas` on the part of the boys that were playing for the home side was intriguing. Just what silly ideas do you mean? he thought. But he didn`t act on the thought, merely making him more curious to meet some of those roudy kids who apparently had become the local Fate`s playthings. Or, at least, someone`s playthings. And there was the inscription of names on the center in support and solidarity for Mr. Cartwright. Something he thought was strange and could have supernal symbolism attached to it as well, on top of everything else.
"Well thanks. I`ve gotta be off. Wouldn`t want to miss the start."
he told the receptionist, taking one last look at her and her name badge in case he`d need her later, before internally finishing to himself: And wouldn`t want to miss supernal foul play when it happens. But there was one thing he`d keep a very close eye on. And that was if and when there`d be a break during the match. Because that would be his time to do his own additional subtle reconnaissance or to potentially break into the office again, or perhaps someone would even be there then at that time? He thought, curiously. And, if this was like the movies, then all the shady stuff from other supernal participants would go off during the break too. But all that thought process hinged on there actually being a break. For the moment, as he was heading to the arena he did take a slight detour as he scanned the walls for tell-tale pictograms of the (fire) escape routes of the center so he could start to piece together Mr. Cartwright`s likely point of exit later. But also simply for safety`s sake as one never knew what could go wrong and in case the situation in there arose that he needed to leave the place quickly. If he found one such diagram, even if that delayed him a few minutes, it was his intention to immediately take a picture of it for later. And if that delayed him from the opening, he didn`t care, because he knew such info had the potential to come in handy later.

Thoughts whirling and avenues of investigation to considered Philip leaves the que after thanking the receptionist, who by her name badge is called Charlie.

Philip can find and photo a fire exit plan of the ground floor no problem giving an idea of the exits. Front door, back, and and a side door out of the main hall.

From there does he plan to head out to the game pitch or risk missing something to try a new avenue?

Feeling a little more secure than he did before with that picture under his belt, he decided to head to his seat to watch the start of the game. As soon as he got there and got settled in, his backpack securely on back, no one immediately bothering him personally and with both his sights still up, he took a good look around to see if there was anything amiss from the get-go, or any spectators or people around the game that were acting suspiciously. Or if there were any resonances that caught his attention. He would not tolerate any supernal or mundane interference with the game or anyone else present, and especially not with his mission.
    2 successes

He briefly turned his attention to the game as well, in case the players from one side had resonances that struck out or were doing anything fishy. But most of his attention was on everything that was happening around the game, any signs of interference. If he could see him from where he was, he also spared Mr. Cartwright a glance or two as he was getting on with his coaching, or whatever he was doing.

Philip approaches the one portable set of bleachers that ahs been put out for this game, many more people mill around its base. A few carts are out selling hot dogs, burgers and the like turning a reasonable trade among the crowds. Scents sights and sounds all add to the air of excitement underlaid with tension. Several members of the crowd have made signs in support of the home team and are being particular raucous with there cheers and chants. Through his mage sight Philip can see the strands of fate catch and drag being pushed by these funs more powerfully then any other.

But it is not until very close to the start of the game that Philip gets his first real and genuine break through. The two teams jog onto the pitch with cheers and books, the ref places the soccer ball on the pitch the managers shake hands. This his first in person view of Mr. Cartwright gives Philip the the shock, thanks to his mage sight Philip can clearly see a blue glyph dancing in the pattern of Mr. Cartwright.

With that moment the managers retreat to the team boxes to study, shout advise and make strategy calls as the whistle blows and things begin.

Philip was sitting comfortably in his seat, watching the festivities surrounding the start of the game, but also looking around attentively. The blue glyph emanating from the pattern of Mr. Cartwright when he briefly saw him was certainly a sight to behold, and deepened the mystery. But then he was out of sight, leaving Philip to wonder Huh? What`s going on? Now I know one guy who has the supernal around him.
He figured in a game, a random guy staring wouldn`t be any real surprise with all of the random sounds, smells, looks and things one got from watching the soccer match. Nevertheless, his deep surprise at Mr. Cartwright would have to be hidden from the sleepers around him as well as he could.

Going over to scrutinizing the general area first, while waiting for Mr. Cartwright to show up again, it was clear once he got the chance, he was a target too good to pass up. But he knew he`d have to wait and work hard for this chance to scrutinize him personally. So for now, the general area would have to suffice.

The most obvious layer of resonance of the playing field is unravelled and conveys the flavour of motivation. The game progresses the sides vying for early control of the field, a game of passing it looks like for sure in this early minutes. The local time run faster, are communicating better, but the other team seems to have more developed skills and better ball control.

Both coaches visible from their boxes are shouting instructions and waving arms at their players trying to convey plans and desires above the racket of the crowd and the focus of the game.

With the general layer of enthusiasm, palpable, it was clear now beyond a shadow of a doubt that the home team was being gifted a supernal advantage. With the time moving faster, and ideas being conveyed more rapidly, there was no doubt to Philip that they were actually significantly worse than their opposing side without these enhancements. And motivation? Who`s motivated to do what? Obviously whatever they want to achieve is more than just winning this soccer game. He then finished his thought by thinking back to his initial resonance he got sitting at the cafe. Is it Fate itself that`s frustrated, is that it? he thought, trying to theorycraft an answer to this bizarre situation and connect the two resonances he`d so far been able to detect. So who`s providing the enhancement? Who`s behind it all? And what do they want? What are they so motivated to desperately achieve? And why do they want whatever it is they want? he thought, annoyed by the clear signs of supernal interference. After all, with the blue glyph in the pattern of Mr. Cartwright, it was possible he was a pawn too in all of this too. And someone else in the crowd or elsewhere might be running their own interference or being the main individual running the interference in the first place. They would have to be found and confronted carefully, and he knew that could only be done by following Mr. Cartwright later.
But despite all that thought process and first of all, and with direct line of sight towards him in his coach box, Philip set out trying to scrutinize Mr. Cartwright directly. And that was even from their current distance apart, looking to see if he could pre-emptively rule him out as the big individual behind it all. Although he knew he`d have to work hard to find anything out about Mr. Cartwright and despite knowing Fate had not rewarded him for rash actions so far on this mission, he simply didn`t care. He wanted info about him and he wanted it the day before!
