(Blood Hunt) Office Reconnaissance

The Lord knew his target: the sister Aislin Hamleigh, the likely Kindred niece of the subjects of the blood hunt.

They say patience is a virtue and yet knowledge is power. Jacque always could appreciate the merits of both. He would watch at night and his ghoul would during the days. He noted any entrance or exit, and dedicated full cycles to watching each to determine any patterns in movement or the comings and goings. No detail was too small to note- vehicle descriptions, license plate numbers, people or groups of people when they came and when they left... even how they dressed. Patience would reveal the pattern and the pattern would prepare Jack for the task at hand.

Seryna This is just a general glimpse to get a feel for the area and the people he might encounter or at least determine the optimum time for engagement. Once I get the starting info about the office and the fruits of this recon I'll open up the actual scene. lmk if there are any rolls you'd like me to make.

Jack and his ghoul would first notice that there was high security at the apartment in question. The apartment was small and well appointed with only six individual apartments. There was a wrought iron fence surrounding the apartment and a locked gate with key access.
The property was well lit with two large column lights in the small, tidy parking lot and directional lights along the outside of the fence. The parking lot had six parking spots marked for staff and three were occupied the night that Jack arrived. Flashlights moving around the area within the gated area showed two guards in grey uniforms moving about the area.

To the left of the apartment building, outside of the fence, was a management building that had hours posted as 7- 5 pm. There were two vehicles parked outside and six parking spots marked out for guests. The door could be unlocked by someone within the building buzzing the guest inside.

Expectations had been that this was some kind of office yet what he found seemed more like for private living with private living security.

There was no doubt that this wouldn't be as easy as he had imagined. Assumptions had been particularly tripping him up through this whole affair- something he wasn't accustomed to and certainly something he was less than pleased with. The original plan of walk in, lay out the terms and walk out was definitely off the table. Too many who would interfere with his walk.

So for now he waited- arriving an hour after sunset to relieve his ghoul and his ghoul returning an hour before dawn to do the same for him.

A week went by, trying to establish the pattern in everything that occurred at these apartments.

For day 3, I accidentally pressed enter after filling out the description with performed the roll with 1 day. I think site rules would subtract the last day from the extended roll which would make it be 9 successes. Otherwise if you just scrapped the error roll it would be 8 successes. Your choice.

The first three days, there were three people who moved like clock work. The day activities were reported smoothly to Jack. There was a pale business man in a variety of expensive suits who arrived at the building at 8 AM and left promptly at 5 PM. He did not appear the following four days.
There was a plump woman who wore tailored fashionable suits in teal, blue and then violet who arrived precisely at 1 PM every day and left at 9 PM every night for the first three days. On the third day, she departed the building with someone fitting Aislyn's description. The woman fitting the descripton carried a small, neat robin's egg blue suitcase. The plump woman negotiated the suitcase from the woman.

Two men came and went at various times over the next two days. On the fifth day of observing, the plump woman appeared, holding the door open for the woman fitting Aislyn's description and guiding her through the building by keying the secutity code and holding the gate and then the door for her. They returned to the building and did not emerge for the rest of the night.
The next morning, the plump woman departed wearing a royal purple pantsuit.
As 7 PM ticked over on a watch, the woman matching Aislyn's description smoothly exited the building. She walked around the exterior of the building, on her phone. She appears to make four phone calls that do not connect, as she does not speak. A luxury sedan driven by the plump woman pulls up and the woman presumed to be Aislyn is driven away. She returns to the apartment at 3 AM, walking inside uneventfully.

On the 7th day, it was quiet. The security team had been routinely observed making rounds. On this day, they were the only ones moving inside the fence. They patrol the fence, checking lights and access points, visually inspecting windows and reporting to someone on the radio. Most of the activity was inside the fence- they did not exit the fence until they entered thier personal vehicles and drove off.

One of the benefits of the unlife was having all the time in the world... unless you lacked the patience.

The compound was especially challenging, but the watch revealed two important details: This is where Aislyn spent a great deal of her time and the night manager was the vulnerability.

Not surprising, there was little to learn from the day movements. Instead, Jacque called on his ghoul to start accompanying him with the evening. He instructed her to first follow the plump woman after her standard 9 PM departures. He was of course curious about where she went with Aislyn, but hadn't settled on the approach yet. He needed to know more about the gatekeeper first.

Jack is trying to learn more about the plump woman's living situation. Home address, living arrangements, vehicles, if multiple people are in the domicile and possibly even discreetly sift through mail to learn more about her name or confirm if others live at the location.

The plump woman traveled in a modern Honda, silver in color. She stopped by a dry cleaners and rapped upon the door. A woman appears and hands out a garment bag through the door. The plump woman returned to the vehicle and took a moment to arrange the garment bag carefully. Then she traveled to an upscale hotel. She was given a deferential nod by the man standing at the door, who opened doors to people approaching. As far as you could tell, no one was rejected by this employee. The hotel consisted of a few very well appointed rooms for a high price. One could negotiate the room number rather easily by dropping off a note for the person in question, yet the person manning the desk would want a name for the message.
The elevator bank was manned by two gentlemen who would get on with a person and press the appropriate floor level button. They functioned as assistants, carrying items to rooms. With a bit of timing, one could follow the plump woman into her elevator.

The Lord saw an opening and for this place... he would take it. The counterfeit of life would push through his skin as he began his approach to the hotel.

Walking through the door with his ghoul on his heels, he gestured to the front desk for her to take care of accommodations to give them a purpose for their visit. Without missing a beat he walked briskly to the elevator, only slowing in pace enough to force him to use his hand to catch the closing elevator doors. The reason? So that he knew which floor he'd be telling the attendant.

The ghoul did as bid and would have a room secured within five minutes. There was a check of her ID and a discreet visual inspection of her person.
At the elevator, Jack found that his choice yielded good results. He was now in the elevator with his quary and an employee. The employee was a man of about fifty, with gray hair and wearing a pristine uniform. The floor 12 had been entered. The elevator car rises upwards.


The woman appears to be calm and composed. She conducted herself as a professional, given Jack a glance as he entered. Her gaze did linger for a moment before she turned her head to look straight.

Sliding into the elevator, Jack 'read the room' so to say. His eyes glanced to the buttons and nodded seeing his destination selected.

Other than that, his eyes faced forward in wait for the movement to stop and the doors to open. Waiting for the woman to exit, he casually followed afterwards.

He kept an ear on the elevator and once he heard the doors close, "Hey," in a more pronounced but otherwise normal voice. "...Do you have the time?"

The woman was walking at a brisk pace down the hallway when she exited the elevator. As Jack addressed her, her gait slowed and she glances towards him. Her eyes light over his face. They travel in an instant down his body. Taking in his clothes or something else? There is a brief tell of appreciation on the woman's expression as she takes in the handsome man addressing her.
A wrist is raised and an expensive, dainty watch is checked.

"Five past nine P.M." The woman responds. "I have not seen you here."
The eyes flick to Jack.
