Track 281 apartments had been the perfect find. The picture of the map showed her exactly where it was located, in the first bend of the American river. Placing the complex squarely in the Communal Grounds but not in the outlined territory of the rack.
The floor plan and virtual tour of the 2BR, 2BA - 772SF option (it’s the third video tour) took her round a small apartment, but with multiple naturally windowless rooms, and those with, could be easily handled. A good amount of storage space for its size, on-site 24-hour laundrette, post box, locker (so less reason for people to come to the apartment door itself) and best of all a clubhouse. Its not quite deliver to your door meals but its dam close.
Pulling the key card from the door scanner Verity pushes open the door to her new third floor apartment, her New Haven. She steps inside to the clean … empty space … oh right I’m going to need to buy furniture and get that delivered somehow … okay not a flawless plan but hey kitchen, bathroom, and her own space, she can make this work.
Putting the box of her things down and dumping the two stuffed duffel bags she has slung over her shoulders; she wheels in the suitcase from the hall to make up all of her worldly possessions bar her van and bike. (Having a parking space was pretty decent to boot).
Those can wait first, let’s try the local dining shall we, moving blood through her system to give the signs of life. Verity heads down into the clubhouse to make the rounds, get to know her neighbours and see if she can’t find someone to celebrate with.

And at this time of night the pool playing, booze drinking slightly to old to still be considered students crowd proves pliable.
Verity settles on a blonde woman being flirted with by some of the others already, by providing an ally against their attentions, an excuse for her to ignore them and sparking their own conversation Verity hits it off with this one. Eventually going back to the woman’s apartment (Verity’s lack of furniture being problematic). To have some fun of their own.

Verity makes sure her new friend is already blissfully euphoric before taking her higher with the bite, just another part of their fun. She will barely remember what happened just how good it felt.
Closing the wound Verity leaves her new friend to rest off her affections and slips back to her own apartment to start measuring out dimensions, so she can browse sofa and table options.
