And so, it was time to done his sleeper guise once more. White shirt and grey suit trousers are meet by a uniform blue tie and mostly well-kept black leather shoes. He grabs his pack filled only this time with the things he might need for the lecture.

A lengthy bus ride later and he stands outside the lecture hall. While having waited on going to university certainly had some upsides, the inability and honestly lack of desire to connect to the younger crowd of his fellows made this rather a bore. The order has told him to keep at it, it was good practice … and they were right so here he is.

Todays 3-hour drone … Plato a classical philosopher. Chambers settles into a seat near the front, pen and pad ready to take notes diligent in his task even if there are other things he’d rather be doing.

That is however until the things get to the cave:

People chained in darkness.
Jailers who move in the shadows out of sight, maintaining status quo.
The prisoners fed a lie they believe to be true, for it is all they have known.
The miraculous escape.
The hard journey to reach outside.
The enlightened truth.
A world of absolute forms, the true state of all things, from which those that participate derive a pale reflection.
The violent reaction of other prisoners when the escapee tries to share the truth.
The escapee no longer able to comfortably live in what he now knows to be a lie.

Chambers doesn’t for a moment believe he is the first awakened to see the blatant parallels, and this idea of philosopher kings having some right to rule the masses is a little unsettling, a little to seer like. But as a topic for pancryptia unravelling there must surely be others to whom he can compare any findings against. Hidden wisdom, where it is least expected.

After the lecture ends chambers stops by the campus book store and places an order for a copy of the republic. Also adding Plato, or Socrates depending on who actually turns out to be who a very real chance that could be a shadow name, to the list of ghosts he hopes to summon up one day.
