Sometimes one thinks that they are confidently moving forward in the right direction. Such as now, when Jennifer thought that she had achieved a great accomplishment. The goal that she had been considering for years.

The goal of baroness was a grand one. It had taken time for Jennifer to decide that she was ready. The meeting with the Judex had been different than Jennifer had expected.
Jack- Lord Jack, judex of the Invictus - had known her linger than nearly anyone in the domain. Only Alessandra and Dirt Nap would know Jennifer as well.

Yet in the meeting, it had seemed that Jack had forgotten something about Jennifer that she thought was important.
Or he had not forgotten about Jennifer's devotion to honesty. He had needed to hear certain things spoken and details carefully laid bare. A quality of Jack that Jennifer had not realized before then?
Or perhaps just a simple kindred truth: kindred lie. It was inherent in the Beast to suspect the Beasts, no matter how strong and refined the Man was.

Jennifer sat with that for a minute. As she did so, she took pen, paper and fine parchment and began to write. It was the skeleton of an Oath. It was the new one that she had learned. One of the requirements that Judex Jack required.

Yet the pen stilled. The writing left her dry. The oaths always felt like music in her veins. Jennifer picked up the parchment paper and read carefully.
flawed Jennifer realized.

Sitting there in meditation, that knowledge evaded Jennifer. What she thought she knew was not quite realized.
Which meant a mistake must be fixed.

The parchment was torn in half. Jennifer picked up her phone to call the Judex.
