Storyteller approval has been given to open this scene to run parallel to the unarmed combat scene. It will also remain open until resolution where it will enter continuity as of 6/1/23.

The stage had mannequins dressed in what you'd expect to see of competition fencers. There were several blades, blunted and dulled to choose from but the Lord lifted two Foils from the display to offer to each competitor.

"You may choose to wear the uniform if you wish. The mechanics of such an item are more for mortal precision in scoring- something I do not believe we'll have an issue in judging."

He indicates to a metallic circular pin about two inches in diameter that can be found on each of the outfits, "What is required is that you at least wear this on the left side of your chest."

"The rules are simple. Only successful jabs to the torso area will score a point. If you are successful in targeting the button of your opponent you will instead score two points. The first individual to five points will be declared the winner." He looked to each individual for any questions they might have.

Aside from normal combat rules, fencing invokes penalties as described on pg 165 of the core book for 'Specified Targets'. -1 for the torso and -5 for the double point button. The damage rating on the foils are 2 dots for the purposes of dice pools, but will not cause damage as they are blunted.

Jennifer already wore her pin and had her weapon from the previous contest. Jennifer waited patiently for Helen to acquire her items. As Helen entered the area marked for the contest, Jennifer took a moment to study Helen. Once Helen was prepared, Jennifer lunged, aiming for the torso.

Helen forgoes the protective clothing, pins on the prescribved disc and frowns as she's handed the foil. Funnily enough she's too fast to parry Jennifers first attack, clearly more used to heavier implements than whatever this is supposed to be. The following attack follows the same pattern, as she's more like hitting at the disc than stabbing at it, swinging from from the shoulder which makes the attack stronger, but also slower and easier to parry.

Jennifer takes a moment to gather herself after Helen's lunge and the avoidance. This is going to be quite the match, Jennifer could see that already. Jennifer lunged forward, her foil seeking the pin on Helen's shirt.

At the hit, Jennifer gave Helen a firm nod of acknowledgement. The Reeve was doing well.
Jennifer took a moment to decide her strategy. Taking a risk to go for the pin could pay off. Yet she had done very poorly at her last attempt. Jennifer chose to aim at Helen's torso. Jennifer took a moment to focus only on hitting Helen's torso.
