[Kane Harlow]

The summer soldier watches everyone's six as they work.

He... didn't approve of this plan. Digging out one path forward while another was left unexplored. Unknown dangers fully capable of jumping them from the rear as they worked and progressed. More then that though? The queen of wrath being thoroughly apathetic to the idea of threat assessment. Disarming herself to climb down the rust hole, gathering with the group to look through the hole rather then watch their six. Kane wasn't a scorekeeper, but the fouls were starting to get his attention.

"Still say we should circle back while this tunnel is still mostly sealed to any threats."

He shrugs, not wanting to overrule the group but also not wanting to ignore the tactical dilemma he felt was being dismissed. Or maybe he was just being paranoid? Isn't that what keeps lings alive though? Ew, did he miss his calling as a Winter? Maybe he should have just let it go...

[Jasper]

Jasper crouches down, his ears perked forward and his nose twitching as he peers past the simian Beast. "I can smell rain.. and sidewalk? Concrete.." he says after another sniff and peers through the hole. "The rain smells strong, maybe it's one of the city's drains?" he offers, glancing up as if he could see the city above them past the soot-stained ceiling. He crouches down a bit further, not liking having to keep ducked down like this.

"I can dig some, Sonnie, if you want."​ he offers

Jasper said it was rain sewers? Storm drains? "I see a red balloon, I'm slam firing," which was a valid statement to her. She read the damn book.


Though her knight had a good point. Patience wasn't her viture though she was all for seeing things through. Yet, they'd have to either put in a LOT of work to secure this wall after clearing it out. Or they could stuff it with rocks, check the other tunnel first. Getting back up should be easier. Wall up or secret door the this pile using the right tools. "Uh, hold off on that work puppy and monkey," she says, "I think Kane has a good point. We stuff rocks back inta that hole and this path is mostly secure. Work it later with the right tools fer the right job."


She jerks her thumb back the way they came, "Best make sure nothing unpleasant isn't going to bite our asses before we go inta the drains with gators and haunted with, uh," what had IT been anyway, "Murder, cannibal, spider balloon clowns? I don't know what Curry or Skarsgard were supposed ta be," she admits with a shrug.

Narration:


If the Lost all agree to search the other tunnel, no rolls are required for either stuffing the hole or climbing back up using the hand holds. Getting down was difficult due to the slick landing. If the Lost search the other tunnel, everyone will need to make a perception roll after getting to the intersection. This will count for their trip down the tunnel. We are two weeks past the 30 days, so please decide which you wish to do: clear and head out of the tunnels or mayhaps secure the last of this gallery offshoot.


If you want to go up back and head East, then you should only make a roll for Perception.


If you want to clear the collapsed walls, either a str + ath or int + craft.

[Anatole]

Anatole paused while the two Beast kith dug through the debris. He knuckled his moustaches in distaste...

... Of the smell. And the dust. And the rust still clinging to his hands and beard.

"Um. Yeah. I'm with Kane on this one... Nothing's coming through there.... While it's blocked. We'd have our back secure while we explore further... And we can come back later. Probably an old cistern or drowned section under there...."

Assuming the party return to the other tunnel, Anatole keeps his eyes open and his lights on.

Sonnie just shrugged and dusted off her hands. "Cool, cool, cool. I wasn't enjoying being a miner, anyway. What's the plan, then?"

The simian Beast glanced around, then smirked at Circe and said in her best creepy child voice, "We all float down here!"

[Kane Harlow]

Oh thank God...

"Wasn't It an alien or something?"

Subject change is welcome as they head back to the other tunnel. If the others allowed him, Kane would reclaim his place in the front of the group, keeping a helmet light on and a keen eye on the surroundings as he led the others.

[Jasper]

Jasper is all too fine with going with the flow of the rest of the group. Dogs aren't nothing if they aren't pack animals. He helps stuff the hole back and then follows everyone, flame burning around his torso, letting out a bit of heat and light. "Not of this world, I know that much... Kinda an alien or something. I think I remember It got here on a meteor or some shite like that.." he says.

His attention falls to the Eastern path, his nose twitching and his ears perked up as he focuses his senses in that direction but also around the group, to a lesser degree.

[Circe]

Circe smiles back at Sonja, "Joker is scarier, totes he'd beat Pennywise. Not ta crow about it, kinda setting the bar low but Joker would be Robin him of that victory," is her jovial reply. She thought he won that rap battle against IT.


Circe has the advantage that her ass is covered durably, so she brings up the rear including on the climb. And this lets her make somebody take the shotgun whilst she climbs, easier!


As their group venture forth into the mediocre adventure of these tunnels, she is doing her best to keep watch for something that is interesting. Be it threat or loot.


Hey, they found a few grand in wine down here already. Circe was certain there could be other stuff too!

---Narration
Returning is easier indeed, our explorers lose no time in getting back to the split in the tunnels, before they turn East. East is uninteresting. Soot marks from before, grooves from old wheeled carts in the floor, continues unremarkable for 300 yards. But hark they hath spied a site of battle. A dead rat is close to them, leaving a bloody trail into the dark seen by Anatole, Kane, Jasper, and even Circe. Kane and Jasper can easily follow this trail to a pair of other mauled rats, viscera spread across the tunnel floor. Even further into the tunnel they both spot a very large millipede, like forearm sized. Only Jasper sees the insect has large chunks torn out of it and that the bug is curled up in a pool of its own blood.


A 3 vs 1 battle had resulted in a mutual kill. If the Lost had ventured this way first, there is a chance they may have fought the bug, but fortune clearly favored the timid in the tunnels.


Past this battlefield is something everyone can see with ease: a major collapse of the tunnel, much worse than the one they found into the storm drains. It looks like it might have been the ceiling that gave way. Support beams, Contracts, or significant work is needed if they wish to clear out this spot to venture further. The quintet are finished searching this br1anch of the tunnels shooting East from the Gallery.

Circe
"Huh, guess he squeaked out." She is amused by the dead rat, though wondering what could've got it. And if it was still here. Hence, shotgun up as she looks around for the predator.


"Guess this way is a dead end too, huh?" It isn't hard to that is the case.

Are folks ready to wrap? This tunnel has been finished and the North tunnel may be better as another scene.

[Anatole]

Anatole steps aside as Kane Harlow presses forward. This time he keeps to one side - and a little behind - the Elemental Crimson Courtier. His solid footwear grinds against the dusty floor; his light cuts through the gloomy air where dust motes and particulates dance lazily in its cerulean glare.

When they come across the scene of carnage, the burned dwarf perks up.

"Anyone encountered anything like this down here before?"

When they come to the cave in, his shoulders slump and he exhales loudly.

I am up - personally - for exploring the other tunnel. However, if other people would rather end the scene then that is fine by me also.

[Sonnie Wu]

"A low crowbar?" Which Robin were they talking about again?

"Anyway, so, that way is a no go," Sonnie said, eyeing the collapsed tunnel. She shined her helmet light about in random directions before shrugging. "Now what?"

Doing the other tunnel as a new scene is fine by me.
