    Continued from Doomsayer in Training...

When Winter opened the glass door to the small cubicle the owner just produced a contract from a drawer. The pudgy man had a dazed look on his face, as if he was not completely there. There was a sense of deja-vu as the Guardian addressed them - both Zack and the owner looked at Winter in pretty much the same way as before, when he dropped in on them the first time. "Excuse me? Who are you, you're not supposed to be here." The voice even had this irritated crack in it.

"Do you mind, we're in the middle of something here." Neither of them was commenting on the noise caused by the accident, but the lucky winner seemed a bit more antsy now.

Dark shadows scatter in ordered symmetrical patterns traversed by a crackling pallid silver light that wraps Winter in a pleasantly numbing and icy coldness.
When vulgar magic is cast, the frequency of the oscillation of the dark fluid surges until the shadows arrange themselves in a solid black halo around Winter's head, the white light darkens into a fiery black sunlight and his eyes are set ablaze with vivid incandescence.

"Can't do", he shakes his head, drawing a cigarette from the pack and waving it around like a conductor's want, "I'm from the office of the Notary", he deadpans.
Gentle pressure builds around himself, enveloping him with a mantle of pure forces.
"Pretty sure a contract signed when all hell is breaking loose right now isn't valid", he shrugs

Winter's spell snapped into existence without any problems (even though it wasn't as potent as he might have wanted) - but his attempt at lying was far less successful. There was a look of irritation on both faces look at the Guardian, but it was Zack that spoke up. "Bullshit. And while we're at it - what are you doing here?" Hearing this confident rebuttal apparently brought some spirit back into the owner. "He's right, I don't think you have any authority to say that. Or be here, for that matter. Would you mind?"

If you want to lie convincingly or make a different attempt at manipulating anyone, please roll (Manipulation + Subterfuge) or (Manipulation + Persuasion).

The Lie was unbelievable, and he really didn't expect them to lap it up.
He takes his time to study their auras, see what they are, try to gather their emotions. "A car just burst through the other room", he shrugs, "I didn't want to stay there".
Approximately the only truth being spoken there.
He could probably exit the room and come back again, his incognito presence erasing any memory of his passing, but again, Fate had pointed at Zack.
He watches around, see if anything has changed meanwhile.

For now all eyes were on Winter. The owner's Aura showed the fast moving speckled shifts of dark blues and oranges - it was those emotions that kept him from proceeding or take his eyes off of the Guardian. If Winter's intention was to merely stonewall he succeeded in a way.

Zack's Aura? Well, frankly there didn't seem to be much left of it. There wasn't an absence per se, but where other people's Auras extended a bit from their origin, Zack's was muted and clung to him like a wet piece of fabric. It had a muted, sick yellow quality to it.

"Is that so? Uh-" "We'll be right outside. Right after we've finished this." The last part was said to the owner in a slightly pushy way. And after a moment of hesitation the owner licked his lips and looked down at the forms in front of him again. And after looking ever so slightly smug, Zack followed suit and watched the procedure.
Which probably had them forget about Winter already.

You can give me an (Int + Occult) roll.

    Bump for Winter

Contracts were signed and everything pointed to the lucky winner getting his way again. When they were finished and looked at Winter again they started again. "Excuse me, what are you doing here? I don't think you're supposed to be here."
Zack stopped for a second, then moved past Winter outside. The commotion outside was still loud and nervous and this time the owner reacted with the appropriate hurried panic to get out or call 911.

It all happened to fast for Winter to catch either of them, so the Guardian ultimately left too.

Putting this plot down for the moment due to player absence.
