The Resurrectionists: Departure

Continued from The Resurectionists: Grave of the Liar...

You spend a few minutes of walking away from where Conner tipped off the security team. You see the sight of the old Jewish section come into view. No doubt the guards are still under Jack’s impressive thrall, for you have not seen the security car and the absurdly bright spotlight.
In front of you is the narrow-rusted gate you snuck through hours ago. You recall the overgrown mess outside, which shall likely fleck your pants and socks with sticky burrs once again. To your right, the cemetery stretches into a misty haze turned orange by landscape lighting. Down there it's all low-cut grass and bland slab headstones. To your left, you can see the dark road just over the low cemetery wall. Somewhere you can hear a car's distant tires glide through puddles.

The Kindred have the learned instinct to protect the Masquerade. Over one low wall, a residential neighborhood slumbered. One would recall that the quiet, dark road immediately connected the residential neighborhood to the cemetery. A road that you would be walking down soon enough if you want the straight path to the vehicle.
What do you do?

[Milton]

The sight of familiar landmarks is a relief to Milton. Not a total relief (quite impossible), but a significant lessening of tensions is a welcome development.

Things have not been resolved entirely though. There's still the matter of escape, with a large trunk and a corpse. All while avoiding notice, both supernatural and mundane.

Milton dutifully carries his portion of the load. Silent, almost placid. On the outside at least. As they near the South Gate, he glances to Jacque and then Quinn. Before returning to his vigilant scrutiny of their environment. Making sure that no ambush awaits them on the verge of departure.

[Jacque]

"Mister Northbridge and I will grab the cars," The Lord remarked as he signaled for an inconspicuous location to set the elder and box down to guard while the Lords fetched their means of escape. "Please conceal the box until we return." Once was an emergency, but he would not rob the Shadows of a second opportunity to leverage a skill they are known for.

Three-ish minutes. Three minutes away from the end of this night. His mind raced through the possible scenarios that could unfold- the list getting narrower and narrower with each step he took. He was already blushed, so there was little concern of being seen walking briskly down the road to a vehicle. They'd need a place to store Pope overnight with their time running out. He had options, but he knew someone who might have more given the ghouls in play. He flipped out his phone and texted the Prince.

[Connor OBrien]

The haunt moves with Jack to place the Elder down, crouching near the bagged body as he waits for the cars to be moved. At any moment, he'll be ready to shoulder the torpid kindred and book it to the cars if need be. The night was drawing on, and the irritability painted on Connor's face was enough to relay his hunger and the mental exertion he's put into this mission. It was time for it to be over.

[Quinn Durant]

Quinn assisted Milton on hauling the box, and finally setting it down with him out of the way of the road so no chance of them running it over or anything, or anyone else for that matter.

She listened to the Seneschal's instruction and attempted to hide the box again via Obfuscate.

Quinn's initial attempt simply fails. She makes an expression of utter frustration. Waiving a hand for a second and then focusing to try again. Of course it was always harder with blood gifts a second time!

The second attempt was successful. Thank goodness. Enough had happened that they didn't need that too.

There is no distraction as the two Ventrue secure the cars and rendezvous with the others in their group. The four are unimpeded as they make their preparations to leave. Perhaps there is frustration at the initial delay in hiding the box, yet there is no sign of any outsiders to observe this. The Kindred manage to exit the cemetery without being impeded by mortal security guards or the Kindred competitors. The lights of the houses in sight on the other side of the road remain off. Had you escaped detection of the mortal neighbors? You have no sign of being watched…
You are able to get the vehicle started and smoothly pull away into the night.

[Milton]

Back in his car, Milton feels a wave of relief. Puts on some music and pulls away from the curb.

He drives carefully, just at the speed limit. Heading back toward the city proper. If there are passengers with him, he does not converse.

Instead he focuses on his surroundings. Checking his mirrors frequently for any tails.

Having the information he needed, Jack pockets his cell phone and moves his vehicle in position to load up. Pope is in his SUV, the chest was placed in Milton's car. He drove with upmost caution... not even a single mile per hour over the speed limit. Turn signals and the whole nine yards.

Nox was the most secure place for the storage of Pope for the short nights he'd be kept there, and with the Prince signing off on the plan that's where he led their small convoy.

Upon arrival he pulled around to the delivery entrance, the club having long been closed by this hour. He shot a text to Gabriel to alert him of their arrival so he could expedite securing the torpor'd pope inside the building. Afterwards he looked to Milton, "Take it to your Haven," he looked around to the group, "Good work tonight. We can split up from here and reconvene tomorrow as needed. Otherwise, I'll sign off on your well earned rewards as soon as this is buttoned up."

Short and sweet- not that they had the further luxury of time.

Quinn was quiet on the drive back to Sacramento, mulling things over in her mind. Also, looking obsessively in the mirrors for nasty things like tails. You never know!
She was relieved they all had made it back in one piece, with the cargo in hand!

Connor rides with the others in relative silence, hungry and mentally spent. He was ready for the night to be over, ready to feed. His irritability is at an all time high, apparent on the 'resting bitch face' he's currently sporting. It'll just be animals tonight it seems. Can't risk losing it with humans present. Disgusting.

When they arrive at Nox, Connor is visibly relieved, doubly so when Jack says they'll split for the night. He's got to get a quick snack before he heads home tonight, if he's got the time. Still, he waits until the package is properly secured, lending assistance if need be.
