The hamster wheel is spinning and Puck is slowly connecting dots. He had never seen a spirit associated with Hallows or ley lines, and the idea that this was an issue of geomancy wasn't one that had immediately sprung to mind. He was right about the construction disrupting his spirit business though. It was interesting to see how the development was slowly reshaping the spirit guardian, though that was a topic for another time.

<<My friends and I can help.>> He takes a few steps back to where he started. <<We may need to examine the tree to do so. Will that be alright?>>

Once he was back away from the beast, he turned to the others.

"He's guarding the tree and talking about flow. I think the tree is a hallow, and the construction is disrupting the flow from the ley liens to that hallow."

He pauses and looks at the ape, clearly thinking about what to do next.

"Can you guys go over the area with Matter and Prime while I talk to him some more? Avoid approaching him or the tree."

The thing about pressing buttons on purpose? It shows where the boundaries are for those in the back.

The Arrow's focus was all for the creature in front, to the obliviousness of anything else. Should it attack, she needed to be ready to intervene for the other Mages.

The Spirit relaxed as Puck stepped back, albeit only slightly. There was no translatable answer to the Acanthus' last question, only static buzzing, the beeping of heavy machinery driving in reverse. Seemed like it was still undecided on how it was going to act here. As if its purpose wasn't exactly clear even to itself.

Something in Puck's theory didn't seem to add up for Winter . The materials and equipment for the construction didn't look like it had been used recently - the most recent changes at the site seemed to be the tree. So why did this Spirit appear now? If any flow was being disrupted it must have happened a while ago.. probably even before this tree had been planted.

Eulogy called for Stygia's help and Stygia answered: a few strands of Resonance stood out more clearly now, like power lines running under the ground towards the tree. He could make out three of them, and their end points seemed to be roughly equally distanced, hidden amidst scaffolding, behind a stack of wooden planks, behind some sacks of cement. Did someone set up a spell and made it more durable with the help of Atlantean Runes?

The First Talon focused on the Spirit in front of them, gauging distance, the expected speed of the thing and the surroundings. Although Phoenyx was more or less oblivious to whatever else was going on, she could see that - if it came to it - their highest chance of success could be to split up. Probably.

He did understand where Puck was coming from. Indeed, at a glance, he would have made the same leap.
But no, it had to be the tree.

Winter cast his spell, turning his focus on the tree and its Resonance. Reality - or at least the frequency of reality that allowed the Awakened to see Resonance - seemed to waver and stretch until it appeared like one of those flip pictures: turning his head slightly he could see the energies how they were a month ago and with every little movement the view changed too until he was back in the present day.
Bingo: less than two weeks ago someone - or something - had meddled with Ley Lines in the area, pushed them around to create this area that was almost strong enough to become a proper Hallow. And a few days ago someone had added a spell to the tree. If he had to guess, the Obrimos would suspect the latter being the reason for the giant ape in front of them.

Said Spirit tensed up as the Guardian chanted in High Speech. Its head snapped towards the tree in surprising speed, turned sideways. It seemed to study something, just like the Obrimos was. Puck brought the attention back to himself with his question. When the Spirit answered in the sounds of metal shrieking and glass shattering, it sounded a lot more agitated. <<It oversees. There must not be further meddling. It will not allow that to happen.>>

Eulogy shared his findings with the group, making sure to memorize their locations himself. So far the Spirit hasn't taken any aggressive action against the group, but it always paid off to be prepared.

"You should take a look," she said to Eulogy, since the others seemed ill-disposed to talking. "Do not turn your back on the creature."

Phoenyx positioned herself so she was between the three men, ready to prodect any of them that needed it.
