The Resurectionists: Grave of the Liar

It took some effort but they were one more step towards closing their night as a victory. Jacque followed his prize through the opening, then motioned for the other two to follow. He looked back to Quinn and whispered, "Obfuscate the switch that opened the door once they're out and we'll close it up again."

He grabbed the walkie and began to calculate out an unknown math problem. A challenging one at least. He looked towards the windows and his eyes traced along the edges of the wall and back to the opening they just came through. They should be at the Hillside mausoleums... they can pick up the box on the way and this should be far enough away for any patrols as long as they delayed their tail. Jacque wasn't sure of Holden's motives, but his own motives were simply not to be questioned in not bringing the box to Pope. The rest could be resolved later.

Once the door was sealed again, he'd wait for Quinn's attention and brush his hand across his temple and motion towards the door, "I'll open the door and you do a short, cloaked perimeter check for any open patrols. Shouldn't be anything, but no need to half-ass the last stretch of it."

[Milton]

The passage through the small opening is...not pleasant. Milton is far from shy about his undead state, tries not to indulge in the denial other Kindred may traffic in concerning their nature, but something about worming through a dank underground passage in a cemetery with a corpse really drives the whole thing home.

Once on the other side, Milton straightens, attempting to brush the dirt grime off his clothing. To little effect. He glances about the space and realizes, to his satisfaction, that he'd been correct: they've arrived at the Hillside Mausoleums. When Jacque announces that fact, he offers the Seneschal a nod of confirmation.

Quinn receives her marching orders and Milton adds, in a muted whisper: "If you need help with the switch, please let me know, Priscus Durant." Milton has some facility with the shadows, as he has already demonstrated this evening.

In the meantime, Milton performs a careful sweep of the Mausoleum. Given that the secret passage led here, there may be further secrets to uncover.

As in a previous instance, I opted for an investigation roll (rather than perception), given the methodical manner in which Milton is examining their environs.

Connor scrambles up the ladder after Milton. He immediately turns and pops his head and arms back into the hole to break the ladder, but it dawns on him that there's an easier way to prevent their pursuer from using it. He grabs the top of the ladder and begins pulling it up through the doorway, setting it on the floor of the mausoleum once it's all the way out. "That should do it." He says under his breath as he sets to a secondary course of action, one that will neither help nor hurt their efforts should he fail.

He moves his hand back into the opening left behind and calls on his gifts, but nothing happens. The Haunt gives a shrug and moves away from the door to wait for the next set of orders.

Quinn bowed her head in response to the Seneschal's instruction, and called upon her gifts and nothing happened. She sighed softly, and refocused her will aligning with what she desired to happen. I will not fail them now. She tried again, and this time the lever vanished. Like it was never there at all. It cost her. She shivered at the effort, closing her eyes briefly as the night grated on her.

With that she closed the door behind them, and that was that as they say. With no ladder, and the lever obfuscated, Quinn hoped Holden and his merry band of brigands couldn't follow them now. A wan smile imagining Holden's beautiful face vexed.
When they were through, she caught the Seneschal's motion and focused upon him, as he silently gave the shadow her orders. Her mind reaching for his as the Seneschal opened to hers. She listened to him and replied back, her inner voice in his mind. "Got it boss, I cannot wait to get the hell out of here. I'm about ready to fall out." She confessed with a mental sigh before closing her eyes, and calling on the cloak. Praying her gifts didn't fail her now.

And Quinn simply vanished from their sight. She would await the Seneschal to open the door and go take her lap to see if anyone was waiting to spring on them.

Milton makes a very effective search of the building. He finds a few rather interesting urns with designs that seem to have a few occult markings.

Yet the building does not have any additional hidden areas or shafts.

The path through seems to be obfuscated from sight. The pursuers likely do not have the means to pierce the Gift.

Milton spies the symbols, steps closer to investigate. Eyes them, skeptical of his own ability in this arena.

He's never seen them before, which isn't surprising. Still, he takes a moment to commit the markings to memory. Perhaps he can reproduce them for Jennifer later. He dares not take a picture with his phone, fearing the flash will give away their position should anyone be watching the Mausoleum from the outside.

When he turns around, Quinn is gone and Connor has joined them. He approaches Jacque, speaking in a whisper again: "It's clear in here," he says. "No secret passages, hidden areas, or threats. Nothing out of the ordinary, save for some strange markings on the urns back there. I'm not familiar with their meaning..."

The Mehket's fade from sight put the plan in motion, he opened the door enough to allow her exit.

Milton pointing out the urns drew his attention. It would be a minute for Quinn to return, so he took the opportunity to look over the mysterious symbols.

Quinn went through the opening that the Seneschal kindly provided and took a perimeter lap. There were no lights in this area of the cemetery and it was so dark even Quinn took her time to make sure of her footing. She chose to move clockwise, nice and easy, to be as thorough as possible.

The Haunt moves up beside the door to offer an extra bit of protection should anyone try to get in when it opens.

Connor is going to hold his action to be triggered on the off chance that someone tries to force their way into the mausoleum.

[Seryna]

The mysterious symbols are occult signs, likely a signal to Kindred. They were marks that signify Crone and Lancea Sanctum covenants.

Quinn found that the area was quite dark. It took time to move around the area and look about. She is fairly certain that the area is empty of supernatural watchers and the Haunt's herd.

Connor and the others hear nothing from the other side of the hatch door. What do you do?
