The wind dog looks between Liam and Colonel Worm as they discuss what to do. The sand it continues to suck into itself making it’s ears distinct enough to see them perk as it tilts its head to one side. All while obliviously making it that much harder to tell what had actually happened here. It looked back into the well, wind picking up to such a speed that it made a loud howl. Headless of any mortals that might be about.
Titania
The Wind Puppy's howl draws Liam's attention. He leans down to the critter's side and tries his best to talk in a quiet, sympathetic tone of voice. "Easy there, little guy. Don't worry, we're just trying to figure out how to help you." As frustrating as it might have been to lose the sand marks, he couldn't fault the thing for being what it was. And it clearly was looking for their help, he was sure of it.
"I don't think there's any room to drag people into that well. But maybe if..." He looks between Worm and Eleanor. "You don't think that well is a Hedge-door, do you? What do we do with those? Break 'em?" Liam had gone through the Hedge before, but that was a while ago. If people had been dragged through this well, and with children so close by...
The Ogre shakes his head, not wanting to consider the horrifying possibility of children being dragged into Arcadia and away from their families.
For his part, Worm is more annoyed than sympathetic when it comes to the wind-dog's howling. He watches Liam attempt to calm the thing and wonders how you can muzzle the breeze.
The Ogre's got a point though. Could the well be a hedge gate?
He looks to Titania now: "What do you think?"
@%1;, make sure you're not using information from other people's rolls, especially if they're spoilered.
Titania
"This is a trap", she says, "a creature nested here and snatched whoever was unlucky enough to fall prey to its jaws. Dragged it to the other side, I suppose to eat. The beast is strong, beware", she sighs, "the whirl is... just something that came up, maybe some kind of parasitic being"
The wind thing turns to the giant Ogre lean over it like he’s a large quietly creaking treeing. Maybe it calmed down a little? It was difficult to tell even as a miniature sandstorm. It still leaned its ‘paws’ on the well’s rim and still occasionally checked the interior despite Liam trying to hold its attention. At least it hasn’t howling anymore though. Just a constant willowy whistle. If it could understand their intent beyond tone of voice, it didn't show it. Just looked between them expectantly.
"You mean something was using this well to find prey? To drag them..." The Ogre's hackles rose and he towered to his full height, a sub-sonic rumble spreading from his throat into his anchored feet. "We can't just sit on this; who knows how long it'll take to contact one of the Monarchs and gather a search party? If there's something at the other end of this well, we need to pull it out and stop it!" Liam looked between his two compatriots, amber eyes flashing with newfound purpose and resolve. "Or do we go in?" The Springish heart of his was raging at the idea of a predator hiding in plain sight snatching up children. But he was no leader; Worm seemed to have a greater tactical mind than his, and Eleanor was much more versed in Hedge-Stuff. He would wait to see reason...if only for a moment.
Worm's normally jovial demeanor turns serious as he listens to Titania's description. "Shit..."
Liam's asking the right questions. To the Goblin's mind, there's nothing to be done but open things up and take a look.
"I vote we go in. If someone's been taken..." He doesn't finish the thought. They all know what that's like. He's not going to stand here and let some kid be turned into a monster's play thing. "I've got some supplies back in the truck." Knives. A first aid kit. Even a kevlar vest.
Worm looks to Titania, wondering what she thinks about the situation.
"We should help. But If it leads to the other side, we're looking at something far more dangerous than a simple trip. How many supplies do we have?", she asks, stuck between her desire to help somebody in danger and fear of danger itself.
"We should probably contact the others"
