What had he done for the Domain?

In a way it hadn’t mattered what Prince Antinori had said. When he’d spoken of taking over the Jackal investigation, working to gather information, set up teams, and use his own haven to trap it… he hadn’t done it for the Domain. Nor had he done it as some play to be Reeve. He’d done it because he felt guilty at having been a part that boy’s death. The boy who even now had a hard time remembering their name.

And maybe that would be enough for some. To work towards fixing their own mistakes. Give of their own livelihoods to make it right. The first step to being part of a community and thus worthy of being part of that community.

Yet as the nights after court passed, and the influence of the beast to have dominion over all faded with time it couldn’t comprehend… JC realized that HE wasn’t satisfied. Knew that he could do more. And… surprisingly, he wanted to do more.

Yeah. The Domain wasn’t perfect. Not the people. Not the organizations. Certainly not him.

But staying on the sidelines forever was not how he wanted to live his life. Or passing off fixing his own mistakes as truly helping those around him.

He could do better. Would do better.
