The Nosferatu nodded, glad that she was not being fought on attending Court. Making appearances was important, and marked by some. “Yes, they are quite similar to Laws of the Land. Some are set for this Domain. For example, the Prince has made it known that no one is to approach her person and speak directly to her. One must approach and await a respectful distance from her, and wait to be summoned at the Prince’s pleasure. If she allows one to approach at all. If she does not see fit to wave one forward, one must move on with grace.”
The Nosferatu tilted her head a moment in curiosity as she regarded Bellemy. She righted it as she responded.

“We must always be wary of poachers or those seeking to challenge her Majesty’s Laws. Specifically, there was some mention of an incursion in years past. The Prince handled it, and some patrol to keep an eye out for repeat offenders. Mable, Dirt Nap and I have done so in the past. I mean to do so again, if you care to join me.
In the year that I have been here, the peace has kept. Her Majesty is strong and another Domain does not make incursions.

A specific threat was brought up by our cousin, Mr. Johnathan Kowalsic, Nosferatu of the Invictus, in Court some time ago. Bodies have been discovered by his ghouls. Bodies that were fed on by Kindred and killed. It is believed that the Kindred who have done the feeding did no wrong, for they left no marks and properly sealed their bites. Something came along after the Kindred departed the slumbering or hindered Kine and killed the food.”

"Two Kindred have taken charge of looking into it after my friend Dirt Nap departed the city. One is the Mekhet Priscus, Quinn Durant. Quite a demure beauty. Yet do not let that fool you - for I admire her sharp mind. I have taken an interest in her. The second is JC Smith, a Gangrel. I may take an interest in him. It was mentioned to me that he spoke in my favor to our cousins so that I would gain prestige in the Family. This is curious to me.
These two are organizing a group to prevent a Breach and a group to find out more about the Killer and stop the Killer."

Jennifer pauses here, for this was a problem.
She awaited to see if Bellemy had further questions or observations.

Bellemy listened to the recounting of the laws of the domain in silence. "To keep herself apart from the rabble. To keep herself from being ambushed in the dark. The stake unseen is the one that ends us. Yes I will abide her majesty's will." Bellemy caught the odd tilt of her cousin's head but made no mention regarding it.

The conversation moved on to poaching and Bellemy was not surprised to hear that others had encroached on the territory, We are all predators after all. came the thought. What Bellemy was surprised by was the invitation to accompany Jennifer. The response came hesitantly but with honest conviction "If you so wish it I would be honoured to accompany you to defend the realm. Just....How does one adequately defend ourselves if we are forbidden from relying on our disciplines?"

"I thank you for your candor cousin. Since you have told me much and shown me great hospitality I would like to offer what advice I may as recompense. On the matter of the Gangrel, the obvious question is why have they shown an interest in you? My second thought is how does a Gangrel feel they have weight to pull in the family to offer such a boon to you? If it pleases you, I would advise caution in dealing with him. Perhaps you would request I look into his aims on your behalf?' The Nosferatu paused to consider.

"As to the poaching, Do we know what manner caused the deceased to perish? Was it exsanguination or by a different means? Did the Kine belong to a particular Kindred or were they chosen at random? Who was it that fed? Do they have enemies?" Bellemy stopped abruptly after realizing the barrage of questions may be unwelcome.

Jennifer listens to Bellemy understanding the Prince's edict. Her respect for the newcomer rises. Too many seem to see only the armor of the Prince, and forget that the Prince is also Kindred. Perhaps more than all of the others.
" I agree." Jennifer nods in agreement.
" There have been neonates, either too bold or too narcissistic, that have disrupted the peace of Elysium. I've only watched it under a different Prince," Former Prince Asa Clarke. "- and it's always a tragedy to disturb the Prince. Or the last mistake that they make."

Jennifer replies to Bellemy's statement and question about the domain protection.

"I'd be glad to have you. I have some basic martial skills in defending myself, but they are poor and I am unpracticed.

Only in Elysium must we refrain from using our Blood Gifts. And we must refrain from destroying the potential Poachers.

The kindred can use Auspex to scan for pur kind, Vigor to chase them down and aid in apprehension. For example.

One must be careful to maintain the Masquerade. Watch for ATM cameras and the mortals ever ready with 'stream to YouTube'.

On the Gangrel, Mr. JC Smith, I am unsure. Yet I am curious m I've been musing on it for some time. Yes, I would welcome your investigation into the matter.

On the poaching, there is an investigation being undertaken. We need to gather more information. I believe that the victims were weakened from blood loss and then the creature finished them off. We are concerned that some coroner might find evidence of a breach.

Victims dying of blood loss in a homicide might attract hunters. You have a very good mind for this. I invite you to join the investigation.
At the moment, it is headed by Priscus Quinn Durant of the Mekhet and Mr. JC Smith. I'll make introductions between you."

Jennifer pulls out two binders. One with the rules of Elysium. One with a Who's Who of Court officials serving the Prince and the various Priscii.

"Consult these, and I will answer your questions. I acknowledge you to Sacramento, cousin.
Remember that Formal Court is in a few days and you must make an appearance there."

Bellemy listened to Jennifer Hazelton 's reply. The shrouded figure nodded where appropriate, "I understand. I took the law to be no powers in the domain, I am corrected now. Thank you." and regarding Mr. Smith the reply came. "I will do this for you gladly cousin." Now if the boast will match the outcome only time will tell.

When Jennifer turned on to the investigation Bellemy responded "I look forward to being of assistance."

Bellemy took the first binder in one long nailed hand and gracefully flipped through the pages taking in every word. When finished, the haunt carefully retrieved the second binder and committed the various names and current status' to memory.

"I don't believe I have any other questions. You have been very helpful and informative. I look forward to proving that I am an asset to this domain."

When Bellemy was officially recognized the shrouded one let out an unneeded heavy sigh of appreciation and said "Thank you, Priscus." choosing again to use Jennifer's formal title to mark the official weight of the recognition. "I will attend court promptly as required."

Jennifer was pleased when Bellemy took the information well. No defensiveness, Jennifer noted.

"Excellent. I am pleased that you are prepared to enter Sacramento." Jennifer accepted the binders and secured them in her messenger bag. At the pledge of assistance, Jennifer smiled sincerely.
"Good, that will be of assistance. I will keep an eye out at Formal Court and introduce you. Unless you wish to make your own introductions?"

"I am glad to have you, Bellemy. I think that you will be a strong addition to our Family. Speaking of Family, I am calling a meeting of the Nosferatu Family somewhere around the 20th of May. I will send invitations when the date is decided.

Would you like for me to escort you to the Sleeping chambers?" Jennifer inquired. She kept her tone welcoming in case Bellemy would rather continue to socialize.

Bellemy nodded at the praise. "I should appreciate any introductions you wish to provide. It is always helpful to have someone who can smooth over the awkwardness of strangers." the nods continued and Bellemy replied regarding the "family" meeting [color=light grey]"Very well, I will remain open to attend. It will be nice to meet our cousins."[/color] Then came the suggestion of seeing the quarters. Bellemy could instinctively feel the suns arrival as all Kindred could. It was not quite time but certainly close enough. "That would be most welcome, please show me."

"I look forward to introducing you to the Kindred at Court. I think that you will enjoy getting to know different Kindred in the Domain. Many are quite unique from any others I have met in San Diego or out East. " As Bellemy mentioned seeing the sleeping quarters, Jennifer was quick to begin guiding the newcomer through the Necropolis.

"Its tradition that once you contribute to the Necropolis, you can create your own Sepulchre. With former Seneschal Alice Hart moving on to seek something in another Domain, some of the Necropolis may change. I will attempt to take up her duties to the Necropolis. Do let me know if you have any questions. "

Jennifer led Bellemy to the sleeping chambers and indicated the open rooms.

"I rest and work there," She indicated. "Do not hesitate to ask if you need anything. Be well until we meet again."
