Dropping Bodies: Coroner's Office

Milton finds a heavy reinforced door leading inside the coroner's office. A camera is mounted facing down at the door, scanning on a predetermined timer. An elevator leading to the upper floors of the parking garage is nearby. An intercom is beside the door which buzzes as Milton approaches the door,

"That you, Mr. Northbridge?" The voice seems momentarily confused and a faint sound of ""damn camera" is heard, as though the guard stationed at the parking garage is muttering to himself.

"You're cleared to go in. Have a nice night."

As Milton looks past the secured door, he finds himself in the side of an entry wall. A short hall to the left leads to three offices with the blinds pulled down, titles such as 'Chief Medical Examiner' emblazoned on the glass window. The doors to the offices are locked and only the light at the Chief Medical Examiner's office has a light on. Looking to the right, he finds a small seating area facing an aquarium. There are about six seats set at comfortable distance form one another, flanked by end tables bearing magazines.

There's a large reception area facing the waiting area. A young Asian woman wearing sky blue scrubs is moving behind the large desks, placing large files with many colored tags in various locked drawers behind her. She has shoulder length bllack hair in a half ponytail. Her makeup is nude and discreet. Her nails are clipped short and filed square, with a pink and white French manicure. She is a bit overweight, and carries it well as she moves with confidence. As she turns to consult paperwork on her desk, she spots Milton.

"Hello, I am Samantha. I was told you were passed through, but I seemed to have misplaced your appointment card with the reason for your visit. How can I help you?" She greets pleasantly. The ID badge hanging from a lanyard around her neck reveals her to be Samantha Ward, coroner assistant.

[Milton]

Milton approaches the desk, taking in Samantha with a bland smile.

"Good evening, Ms." he checks her name tag and happily finds that this is, indeed, the very person he'd hoped to find, "Ward." He meets her gaze again, rueful: "Apologies for the confusion. I'm sure my assistant called ahead." He gives her a look that says: Good help is so hard to find.

"I'm here as a representative of the City of Sacramento's Budget, Policy, and Strategic Planning division. We're performing our year-end audit of expenditures and my superiors noted some...interesting equipment purchases here in your facility." All very boring stuff. "Tell me, is the Chief Medical Officer still in? I noticed that their light was on when I came down the hall."

How he plays this depends on her answer, but right now Milton is feeling very good about the situation inside. He does not stop to consider how things may be proceeding back in the parking lot. No longer his problem.

Just to confirm: other than Milton and Samantha, the waiting area is empty, correct?

This is correct. The waiting area is empty. There are faint sounds of classic rock and roll coming from somewhere...

The woman in scrubs turns and glances at the wall clock.
"That's odd, I thought the beucracy knocked off at 7 minutes to 5." She grins to Milton. Personable, with a good sense of humor. "Your inquiry would best be directed to the Chief of Staff. He handles purchases of that nature."
She glances at something that Milton can't quite see on her computer screen. Her eyes scan as she reads. "Seems like he's out. He'd be in tomorrow at 8 AM. Is there something I can leave in his inbox so he can contact your office?"

Helpful, and apparently competent. Samantha's eyes are traveling along Milton's clothing and even seem to take in his shoes. Its possible that Samantha is a medical examiner herself, with this attention to detail. The polite expression, doesn't waver, however.

[Milton]

Milton forces himself to chuckle at her joke and then says, "Oh, I'm a consultant with the city. My work is never done." A little jest of his own, equally foolish.

"Very good, very good," he says, as if he's pleased to know when he can find the Chief of Staff. In fact, he's happy to hear they're alone. Though there is that music coming from somewhere...

Still, now's the time. And Milton doesn't skip a beat. When she meets his gaze again, she'll find him staring at her intently. The moment their eyes lock he speaks, softly but with an air of careful command.

"Please call the security guards at the guest parking lot and tell them to send in Mr. Edward Heinrich and Dr. Alexander Moore. Let them know that the two gentlemen are expected inside. They are providing their expert opinion on a matter of great importance." He does not mention Mable, not sure of her current...situation.

Milton manages to capture Samantha's complete attention as he utilizes his Blood Gift. He waits only a moment to see if this medical practicioner showed signs of great resolve. Yet Samantha gave a small nod, as though he had made a perfectly reasonable request.

"Yes, I don't want to impede the doctor's work. Especially with that tip called in.." She reached over and picked up the telephone, pressing a button to dial out to the security office. She states Milton's command 'send in Mr. Edward Heinrich and Dr. Alexander Moore. They are providing their expert opinion on a matter of great importance."

Samantha pauses a moment. Then she frowns slightly, stating. "Samantha Ward. No." Another pause. "If I have to do that, she won't be pleased with you."
Samantha returned the phone to the phone cradle.

"That's that." The woman said firmly. Her eyes drift over to a small stack of files, marked by different brightly colored tabs.
"Do you need anything else, sir? I do have to get back to sorting these files."

[Milton]

It always feels good to be obeyed. If only everyone could be made to obey like sweet Samantha. How easy Milton's unlife would be.

"Very Good, Miss Ward. Though, I have one more favor to ask of you." Catching her eye again. He seems to stare right through the woman. "When Mr. Heinrich and Dr. Moore arrive, I will need you to take them to see the bodies of Royce Riggan and Richard Harper. Answer all of their questions and assist them in any way possible. When they are finished, please return to me."

There is a small hesitation on Samantha's part, although Milton felt like his Gift had flowed through him well. The two are regarding each other when the outside door is buzzed through. The admittance that Milton had obtained.

[Alexander Moore]

When Alexander received the text from Mr Heinrich he was relieved, then ashamed as he began to lope towards the building. He wasn’t much use in these sorts of things, but standing around in the open had likely not been very helpful. He nods at the guards as he passes, and meets Mr Heinrich by the locked door.

The door swings open to reveal a well put together office, with two occupants in the reception area. Taking a moment to navigate the door, he enters the room, giving a quick greeting to Mr Northbridge and nodding at the receptionist.

[Milton]

At the entrance of Milton's two collaborators, his first instinct is to grimace. Between the presence of Edward's beast and Alexander's ghastly appearance, the Lord suddenly feels a little...perturbed.

Instead, he offers them a bland smile of welcome. There's a job to do and things are moving along nicely. Time for introductions.

"Dr. Moore," he says with a nod to Alexander, "and Mr. Heinrich," a nod to Edward. "So nice to see you. This," he indicates Samantha, "is Ms. Samantha Ward. She will escort you to your destination and answer any questions you may have. Isn't that right, Samantha?" The question is asked with the assumption of full compliance. His words drip condescension.

"I will remain here for the moment," someone needs to keep an eye out for any interlopers after all. Besides, he'll be of little use when it comes to evaluating the corpses. "Please contact me should you need anything. I will do likewise." He looks to Samantha again, "Ms. Ward knows to return to me once you have completed your business." They'll need to have one more...conversation before Milton departs for the evening.

As Edward already posted in the other thread, I thought it best to move things forward here.

[Edward Heinrich]

"Mr. Northbridge, good to see you as well." Edwards's attention smoothly fixed itself on the Kine, "then we are in good hands, after you, Ms. Ward."

Edward nodded to Milton's parting words, "very good, until then."

Edward had decided to leave the fishing rod case, rapier included, behind.
