In the end JC had had three choices. He could host at the House but without talking with Quinn (or less probably but more preferably Dirt Nap) that was out. The was his own haven but calling it a meeting spot made basically every closet in Sacramento a gathering local. That left the safety (and threat) of Elysium.
He'd worked to make sure it wouldn't be a time when most Kindred would be there. Disrupting. Listening. Hopefully, his admitting his own potential part in a Masquerade breach wouldlullpersuade others to come forward.
Hopefully Alice would find his announcement, along with time and location, to be within normal (or at least emergency) decorum, considering she'd granted it. Otherwise he'd put himself square in the middle of the 'safety' of the court.
