Anima looks up from his navel gazing, and offers Aurora a smile. "The Scions of Singing Stone have kept their chair filled without vacancy, second only to the Golden Key. It's the paths of others that seem to step halting in recent months." The shaman shrugs. "We're an eclectic bunch, welcome Ignus." Eyes flit back to Aurora, eyebrows raised.
"So, uh, is there like a whiteboard with like an agenda or something? Old Business, new Business, anything like that? Got like a Sergeant-at-Arms for that?" He wasn't sure how formal or organized the Consilium was but he did remember Campy saying this was supposed to be a Formal meeting but so far it'd been the same as the last one. Not that he was complaining he didn't really have anything constructive to do or add here. So he'd just sit in the back, eating his grapes and letting people get organized.
A Master of Space? Interesting. Someone who could replace Pixel as Mastigos Councilor, perhaps? It would be nice to have one of the Diamond in the position. Naga smiled and nodded to the Arrow, "Good to meet you, Master Avis."
An eyebrow arched at Tyche's words. So Abacus also had not shown up? This Consilium should be well underway by now, and yet the only Councilors in attendance were... Aurora and Phoenyx?
This lack of formality and punctuality was becoming irritating, but she did her best not to let it show.
"Welcome, Magus Ignus," she greeted the new Thyrsus to distract herself from the problem. At least he was a fine-looking distraction. "Welcome to you as well, Magus Mobius."
The Warlock gave a nod, "I agree with Magus Guru. We're losing daylight, so to speak. What is on the agenda tonight?"
Ohh well another Talon and one with some experience now that was great with her and Phoenyx being the only ones so were they a bit low in that state and she seemed to belong to another tower than the both of them and held other arcana as well that was ideal for future teamwork.
"I shall look forward to working alongside you then Master Avis."
Then sigh all of this just seemed to be people discussing seats, positions and power standings half the reason she loved the position of talon were because she could always avoid such things an arrow does not need such positions just to do their job that was good enough for her, as long as those who were in power wasn't a threat to those she wanted to keep safe so was there really not a reason to care at all and luckily there were plenty of people from her tower around and she was one of the newest so she would not even be close to being asked about taking a seat.
Her eyes watching the new ones, following those she were unfamiliar with trying to work out the workings of the group how people connected with others, where alliances lied and just generally get a feeling for all the mages here.
Gesturing towards Ignus to feel free and sit down, her eyes walking over to Mobius hoping that the shy girl would find some courage and come sit down somewhere as well.
Ohh finally Guru took the charge let's see if there really was any point in this gathering or if it was just to see each other.
The Arrow gave Avis a nod, and a tiny smile. "Master Avis. Talon Skye and I have been operating out of the Circle, given it's position as headquarters for this Concillium. If you need me, you can usually find one of us here. If you can give time to help oversee the surrounding area, given your particular talents, it would be greatly appreciated."
She looks around. This wasn't what she had hoped for when being landed with Councillor. It was yet another challenge.
Existance is War, but lately mine seems to be more war than others.
"Well, since no-one knows about Pixel - or Abacus," She nods to Tyche, with a bit more of a relaxed smile, "I suppose we should cover what is left of the council knows." She nods to Guru and Naga.
"Magus Kaze has completed his sentance for breaching the Veil of Secrecy without issue." Well. None worth mentioning. "Magus Winter remains in isolation following his conviction for subverting a Duel Arcane. The Abyssal Entity discovered recently is being dealt with. I will be taking a group there to destroy the creature."
She looked around the room, thinking. Fourteen mages. One-Four. One of which arrived today, and another two newly returned. Who knew how long they would stay. Making a council was.... pointless. But Revolution was Creative.
Phoenyx takes a slow, deep breath. "Before I open to the floor for anything else, I think we need to acknowledge the problem with Councillors. This concillium is too small for them to be a realistic governance. Every Formal Concillium I've seen here spends more time trying to make it work than anything that needs a decision making on. The method isn't fit for purpose. So, I suggest we scrap it." The Arrow's dark eyes glance slowly around the room. "And this is all wrapped up in the Charter, so clearly the charter no longer works for this Concillium. Scrap everything that doesn't. We still have the Tetragrammaton. At least then we're not spending all this time wasted on trying to force a broken system to work."
She rolls her shoulders and continues. "I live at the Circle. We can still meet, once a month. Share news. Information. I'll do caretaking if I have to. Meet the new people. Pass along messgaes. Or... vote for someone to do that job." She manages to smirk a little, with wry amusement. Nobody wanted that job. She knew she didn't. That was part of the point. "Or Paths can handle internals and new arrivals, whichever the new faces come to first. If they want councillors, fine, but I see no point in having it as a mandate. There may not be much difference between my proposed meetings and an informal meeting. But there's not enough "official" things to make an "official" Concillium meeting one-sided with councillors teling people things. It isn't practical." Phoenyx shrugs. "So... I open the floor to thoughts and business. My idea. Other Ideas. Announcements. Invitations. People's lives. Anything."
Sure, Public Speaking wasn't her strong suite, but Service was Mastery, and right now, they needed this service. Clear out the non-working old. Make something new. Though at this point she was hoping someone else would say... something.
We voted on this pretty decisively back in March, but it never got implemented IC in the meeting that followed. So, I'm bringing it up. May be short on time for it, but meh.
Have a plum. One for Tyche and Campanella, too, if they want one. And Avis when she gets done chasing cats. Can't wait, yo. Can't wait to have a cabal rep this thing instead everyone having to come. Of course it's a mess. New people keep barging in instead of, you know, dialing up their Order heads or what-not and making nice -- or doing it on the sidelines. How can anything happen when, every five minutes, someone is bursting in and announcing their existence?
Or if the Councilors, you know. Actually talked outside of these things.
Which didn't mean Phoenyx wasn't wrong. But it's hard to levy a verdict when there hasn't been any effort.
What's the point of having a Tetragrammaton without Councilors? What would have happened to Kaze or Winter without a Council?
"So, like. You're saying go wild West style? People handle their own or whatever they want, and if someone disagrees, just Duel it out?" Long fingers came up and splayed in a warding gesture. "I mean, don't get me wrong. It's not an argument. Just. Clarification."
Because important to know the rules.
Campanella wants a plum, but he had seated himself just out of reach.
He sighed and focussed his attention on the Councillors. As the talk turned to the semblance of an agenda, and the structure of the Consilium was raised once more, he found his posture changing. The Moros leaned forward, elbows on knees, hands clasped together. He rested his chin on his coiled fists and frowned.
Briar Rose, sits her ass down, eating the plum, humming as the juice runs down her fingers. She laps it up, and watches.
As annoying, aggravating, and clearly no clue how to Sac-town's Consilium was, she had to admit there was entertainment. Well, it moved into the entertainment realm when you just, stopped. Caring. About. It.
She reaches for another plum.
Kaze glances at Master Avis, not lingering or staring, just respectfully making sure to remember who she is and what she looks like.
When Phoenyx talks, he winces slightly at his name and the report on the incarceration.
Nope, not quite done being an agenda item yet. Maybe next time.
Then she proposes doing away with the Charter and maybe the whole structure of Councillors. Huh. Sounds...a little anarchistic. Not really an Arrow thing, but what does he know? He practically flunked out of the Arrows. At least that's how he felt about it.
Star talks about everything settled by dueling. Wow. Well yeah, having seen him duel, that would work for him anyway.
Kaze settles in to watch and listen. Just because Phoenyx said she was 'opening the floor' doesn't mean he isn't still better off practicing and showing improvement in the art of keeping his mouth shut. I mean, she also said right before that about how he specifically just got out of jail for that.
"As someone who's struggled with our current model for years," Avis piped up, against her better judgement, "and seen it fail at every stage, I would suggest that we abandon it all together and instead look to the Circle. The Circle has come to stand not for the paths, but for the Orders, and so I would say that it is to the Orders that we should look. If there must be a trial, let the heads of the Orders make up the Jury. If there must be a vote, let the heads of the Orders vote. The Orders already organize us, guide us, and connect us to the rest of the Awakened Nation. Let's use the infrastructure that we already have. It's not that hard."
She shrugged, ending her great oratory with such flourish, and let her statements settle in the minds of those around her.
If experience told her anything, this would fall flat, but at least she'd tried.
