The subtle smell of nitrocellulose filled the air as the last shots cleared. His ears rang something fierce from the reverberation of sound throughout the attic amplifying the sound. He didn’t hesitate in stupor though, Phoeynx was injured. Shotgun left in his off-hand for now as the other dipped into his pockets to fish out the bottle.
He knelt at her side, hand holding the pill bottle out to her as his lips formed the words of High Speech. Bringing truth to form as he imagined their bodies seeing the black lines of poison coursing through their veins and trying to restore their vitality to its former state and then…nothing. An exasperated sigh escaping his lips, sweat forming on his brow as he shook his head. The Life Master would have to take care of this one it seemed.

The Arrow sways in place slightly, but her gaze and pistol doesn't move from the crumples shape on the floor even as the additional mages come in. Her ears are still ringing with the gunfire, but it starts to ebb away and Phoenyx becomes more aware of the dull ache in her torso, and a shining green sigil sluttering and dying ineffectivey. A had slowly moves to the wound, and she feels the wetness and the tang of metal.
"You're bitten. Check yourself," she says to Guru, eyes finally turning away from the body and checking him over. "Some spiders are venomous..." A slight wince creeps into her voice "... and I think this one was." Slowly the Obrimos turns and looks around. "Good shooting, though." The tone is direct, but a hint of approval.

Slowly, she breathes in and out... and the wound begins to knit itself back together. She gives Guru a confident wink. Turning on the spot to see Naga and Kaze, she gives them both that small smile. "Naga. Check the house. See if she has any friends." She calls down the access towards Aurora and Anima. "We got her. We're okay. Anima? See anything else?"
With the penalty from Aurora's spell Phoenyx heals one wound and then 3 from Self-Healing. Yumyumcrow , I figured the mana reduction from the Rote would mitigate the out-of-path cost leaving just the spell cost itself - if I've worked that out wrong just let me know and I'll correct in my next post

“Phoenyx!” the Shaman says, moving towards the stairs and looking up. When she hears the Arrow talk, there was an obvious sense of relief.
“You’re ok?” she asks, wondering if it was true. Would Phoenyx admit if she was hurt? “Not going to buy it until I can see you guys.” They better not make her go up there and check. “And if I have to heal through the ceiling again, I’m not going to be happy.” But there was humor and a small grin on her face.
Kaze looks around and then calls out, "Seems clear up here now."
Hearing Phoenyx's words and seeing her less than top condition, Kaze moves up to her and touches her shoulder, casting Purify Bodies.

Naga stared at the corpse of the arachnid monstrosity for a moment, then looked to Phoenyx and Guru. The Arrow was the worst off, but Aurora was on task. She would have to trust the Life Master would take care of the wounded.
With a nod to Phoenyx, she began casting her spell again.
High Speech echoed around her before the golden glyph flashed into temporary existence. The power of Pandemonium reached out across the house, marking every person and object in the structure, their movements and the spaces in between.

Naga scanned the map in her mind, searching for any sign of more spiders.
The Awakened gather in the attic, leaving Anima to stand alone on the stairs and Aurora on the landing.
Guru can only stand by as the Imago fails in his toxin blunted mind. Phoenyx begins the slow process of healing herself, assisted by Kaze who cleanses the spider poison from her system...
Eeoow! The Arrow sweats out the toxin! The warmth of the Apostate's magic is followed by the cool, clammy, sensation of foul smelling sweat on her skin and in her clothes.
Naga spreads out her senses one last time and initially detects nothing further.
With a rustle and a pop and a faint whoosh of air, the shattered body of the giant arachnid creature begins to shrink and tear apart. Thousands of thumb sized spiders burst from the corpse and begins scuttling away - crawling between the floor boards; or up the walls; or pouring down the entrance to the floor bellow.
For Warlock, her spatial sense active, the sensation of the spider's movement is like being caught in a sudden rainstorm - each little creature is a 'ping' a droplet of water bouncing on her skin.
Back on the stairs, Anima speaks. And waits. And waits. And probably laughs, ruefully, when he realises he is on the wrong side of the Gauntlet if he wanted to interact with the entity he has trapped. He'd need a spell if he wanted to contact the spirit directly*.

The doctor curses under his breath with a chuckle. "I've caught one on the other side. Don't forget to contain the creature," he reminds the Arrow. If an invisible sigil disappears from his aura, does that mean it was ever really there? Of course it was, he made it, and both the amusing thought and the spell is gone. His flesh goose pimples, suddenly feeling very exposed in the den of evil, relying on his fellow mages for protection. "Aurora," he hisses, "I've lowered my guard to make room for more weight." The shaman is handling his stress with a smile, but it's apparent in shine on his bald head.
The next sounds out of his mouth are in high speech, as a perfect grey imago forms in front of his mouth. "Give me your name." He says, pushing the words through the spell. <Give me your name> comes out of his mouth sounding like the song of cicadas on an hot, July night. The words disappear, too suddenly to be natural, as they cross the gauntlet with his perceptions.

“You know the Pill could have done that without the strain to yourself right? Pride goeth...” He shrugged and tucked the pill back into his pockets for use in case of further emergencies, he was fine for now more concerned about the toxin than anything else at the moment. That’s when the massive body basically burst into thousands of smaller spiders as Anima’s warning came far too late.
“Yea, too late on that count buddy it just popped like a fuckin’ balloon and I don’t have the mastery to deal with that. Sorry buddy, think this is a job for our life master maybe.” He looked to the two in the attic glad for a second he hadn’t been in any real danger as he chanted the words of high speech trying again to purge the toxin from the system finger moving back off the trigger.

He gave one final push as his sweat filled with the vile poison and began running down his skin to fall onto the floor that was no crawling with spiders. He really had no idea how to deal with a swarm like that, his initial assessment was correct he didn’t possess the mastery for it and this was not something a shotgun could solve.
“Starting to like the arson idea.” He grumbled to himself as he stood guard over Phoeynx and Kaze shotgun at the ready.

Phoenyx suppresses a smile at her friend's concern. She moves to the hatch, so Aurora can see her. "Some bite marks. Guru too." She then feels the stinging as the poison oozes out of her, and grits her teeth, realising what Kaze must have done. "Thanks," she says quietly.
The Arrow looks to Guru and shakes her head. "Strain? This is just practical. I have the ability. Poison or no. Now you have your pill if there's an emergency." Good luck convincing an Obrimos of Pride.
And then things start changing again.
The corpse collapses and splits. The Arrow whirls around, watching, when Anima's reminder comes too late. Mentally kicking herself, Phoenyx starts looking around again. "Guru's right - it's already dissolving. How do we get the other one? We may just have to bring the building down."
She gives Guru a small smile. "It's always the mighty's plan B. Fire solves most problems."
Her attention shifts from the entry into the attic, to Anima. An eyebrow raised, who drops a shield in a situation like this? They were going to have a talk about that.
Touching her magic tool again, she calls upon Life to help Shield her fellow Shaman.
That done, she looks back up, “What job? Need more to go on here.” What popped like a balloon? The spider thing?
An eyebrow arches at the Arrow, “Uh huh. New rule, stay within eye sight of the Life Master ok?” no room for debate. “Is dissolving a good thing? Or is it going to, like, reform?” she didn’t think spiders did that, but then again, this was some weird fucked up spider who could do god knows what. “If there is a chance of it reforming or something, we need to either contain it, or,” shrug, “I guess burn it down.” agreeing with the earlier idea.
