Kaze's incarceration

[Phoenyx]

Phoenyx rolls her eyes. "Don't gossip then, dummy. You could still give your interpretation of our time working together."

Just not anything else.

Skye's thoughts get a small nod. "That would be good. Though I can use firearms, and it is often more practical, I prefer melee combat where I can. I specialise in pistols, knife fighting and martial arts."

The First Talon seems very apprehensive of the idea. But she is right. It is a new experience. "I.... suppose that could be fun..." she admits reluctantly. The new Talon seemed to have endless enthusiasm. "Alright, fine, I'll come. Just nothing to complicated, alright? I don't like complicated."

[Kaze]

Kaze listens and nods as Skye lays out a reasonable rationale for asking about Phoenyx's preferred fighting style and tactics.


He's quiet, respectfully so as Phoenyx expresses some apprehension and reluctance about dressing up in a costume and going to a party that way.


When Skye tears up, he pretends not to notice, giving her a moment to gather herself, since she seems not to want to discuss the reason for her tears.


"Right!" Kaze agrees enthusiastically Skye about getting sun when you can!


Kaze nods when first Skye and then Phoenyx encourage him to give his perspective, just on their time working together though. Kaze chuckles, "Well, one thing I can tell about that time." He says. "I never did like being called a 'dummy'."


He ponders a moment, "Our arcana were pretty similar then, and really we only were on one mission together that I remember. We got separated pretty quick even then. I don't remember a single time we were ever in the same fight at the same time, out of...four? Yeah, four missions, we were hardly ever in the same room at the same time. I haven't ever even seen the First Talon fighting except for a few sparring matches. Her skills are good, as far as I know from training together." He concludes.

[Skye]

Taking in Phoenyx's words.
"Hmm I am first and foremost an archer, whilst carrying around a bow and arrow is certainly not as easy as a gun nor is it as easy to learn to use but it does come with the advantage that it is far more silent even without the aid of arcana to manipulate the sounds. You have given me a base on what to think about though and I do have two weapons I wanna master that hopefully can get right here. Besides throwing my knives that is."

Jumping in excitement.
"Yayy we got the firebird to come along, victory" Looking between them. "So what kind of costume would you like? What do you think would suit her Kaze? I am no expert at all especially not on that whole gothic theme thingy. I mean my first idea were to go with a Nobin costume not that I think most people would even get it, the ones I didn't speak of were also not really PC ones and in all honesty I have no clue where all the lines goes, people can be so sensitive and I am used to have basically no filter other than to keep secrets secret or to act in a certain manner but that is not really the same type of filter."

Shaking her head.
"No one likes complications or complicated situations but we must venture into areas that are complicated and ones we aren't used to in order to grow one learns more from challenges than from easy situations after all." Damn for her this entire city and to be around all these people were extremely complicated to try and fit in to begin with.

Looking down at Kaze's answers.
"So basically you have nothing to add and cooperation is in your experience rare as such prepare to work alone got it."

Spinning around.
"Why did things get so stiff around here? You getting sleepy in there Kaze or did I get into subjects that brought up some bad memories?" Looking a bit confused and wondering.

[Phoenyx]

"Well, I only did it when you did something dumb," Phoenyx replies primly, though it's accompanied with a small smile.

She listens to the talk about costumes. She probably could put something together? Maybe?

The comment about growth did prompt her to smile. Under the carefree outer shell, there were hints that showed there was an Arrow beneath. The First Talon nods in agreement.

She looks, confused, at Skye. "Stiff?" Things still felt more or less the same to her.

Awkward.

Kaze smiles and listens as Skye describes the practical considerations and advantages of her archery. "So, what two weapons are you wanting to master, Skye?" He asks, interested.


He laughs as Skye celebrates getting Phoenyx to agree to come to the party, in costume no less. "I...have no idea!" He says when Skye asks him for suggestions about a costume for Phoenyx. He can't help remembering the one she had on after they all got out of the club that Shodan dragged them to. Yeah, not that. "Maybe a 'ninja'?" He suggests.


Then Kaze frowns at Phoenx's light dismissal of her use of 'dummy' towards him in the past and even still. Like I deserve it. I used to try to rationalize it, like it was somehow affectionate, but sounds like nope. She's never called anyone else that, even when she complained about them, so she just thinks I'm dumber than everyone else, or just doesn't respect me as much, enough to keep it to herself. But then, I always just took it. I never called her on it or even told her it bugged me. Now I told her, and she's basically saying 'so what'? So, am I going to accept that? Again?


"You know, Phoenyx, I haven't heard you call any other mage a 'dummy' in the year and a half we've both been here, and some of them have made some really spectacular screw ups. Since I know you have the self control to show some respect even when someone makes a mistake or does or says something you disagree with, please show me the same respect that you manage for every other mage, and stop calling me derogatory names from now on. I don't appreciate it, and I have never called you names like that when you did something you regretted." Kaze says sharply, hurt by her cavalier reply.

[Skye]

Wohoo a smile from the fire bird that was always a good indication of things.
"Yes it started to feel a bit stiff here, I don't know I am no expert but it felt like a major change occurred around here." Perhaps it came from the persona she portrayed or from how unaccustomed to stiff situations she were but something had really changed.

Looking towards Kaze jumping around like she had a skip rope, it might not be the best look but it did keep her body moving and her heart rate up.
"The staff and the spear, both can be made easy to carry around whilst also providing reach which is never a bad thing in combat. Now the knife would be my third choice due to the ease of carrying them but staff and spear does sound more intriguing to master first due to those reasons. Especially with how much you can compact them today and then extend them when you need to use them so can they be quite hidden on your person. I assume that eventually learning how to fight with claws might not be a bad idea either but that would be a last resort, not that I shouldn't be able to dance around any human fighter in close combat as it is though." Yeah running into asshole humans that just threw punches for no reason weren't really ones she cared enough about to even attempt to severely harm them, better to just dance around them and let them tire themselves out before they give up, now if you needed to get rid of them for another reason so was that another story entirely of course but drunkards and assholes were everywhere and sadly unavoidable.

Looking carefully at Phoenyx and then back at Kaze.
"But is that really in line with the gothic theme? Or how do you feel Phoenyx do you wanna dress like a ninja?" Her eyes widening up "Or maybe we could theme up and do zombie Cheng umm well that famous Asian female pirate and that Calamity Bonnie or Bonnie Clyde or whatever her name was now again." History was not her strong suite but at least she hoped she had made her point clear.

Ohh wow yeah these two had some clear air they needed to handle themselves, slowly stopping to jump and step out of the way. Prepared to intersect should it get to physical but as long is they stuck to just words so was it best to let them air this out themselves it was always for the best to not get into arguments you weren't apart of and they might have other things to vent who knows why he really had left the order or what history they shared.
Taking up one of her throwing knives just in case it should be needed, giving the two former lovers space to vent out their feelings.

[Phoenyx]

The air seems to go very still as Phoenyx fixes her eyes on Kaze's face.

"I didn't realise your feelings were so easily wounded. Didn't you ever realise that reason I did is because with you, among so few others here, I was honest with? That I could tell you how I felt without having to dress it up? I don't respect you less, Kaze. I respected you more, and I would treat any Arrow, or any friend, the same way. Enough to tell you exactly what I thought without having to hide behind walls of formality of Concillium or Orders." She stands.

"Do you really think it meant I didn't respect you? That I didn't care? If it bothered you so much maybe you should have said something much sooner. But that really isn't your style, is it? But Thank you. Thank you for reminding me just who and what I am. You want to be treated like everybody else, fine."

She turns on Skye. "Talon Skye, for the best part of a Year I have been the sole Arrow of this Concillium. I have done my duty and made sure the Awakened of Sacramento were as protected as one person could make it. I have made sure when people think of the Arrow they think of mages that act professionally - it is why I am making such a point of making sure you do the same. No-one else bothers, or even seems to care, that just because there aren't Seers of the Throne hammering at out doors we do not have to watch our backs. And on top of that, Kaze and I were close. Very close. We dated for several months. And then we broke up, because it was clear we wanted different things, and he had never made those things clear. Most of the Concillium doesn't know, so we could avoid people knowling about our close sympathies." The First Talon is flushed now. "So if I seem stiff, or tense, it's because this whole situation is confusing and infuriating and agonisingly awkward. And I don't make a habit of sharing my personal life with everyone that walks through the damned door, but since you'll probably find out sooner or later so I would appreciate it if you kept this to yourself and not flirt with him right in front of my damned face."

The little Obrimos stalks towards the door. "I'll be back at midnight for my shift."

As she leaves, there's a brief double take, looking to Skye. "And straight-up offering sex to everone you meet is weird. Stop doing that."

And with that, she leaves.

Unless anyone wants to stop her, Phoenyx leaves!

Kaze smiles slightly as Skye tries to interpret Phoenyx's denial of a change in the atmosphere. Good luck figuring it out, Skye. I don't think I really did, ever.


He nods vigorously as Skye shows excitement in talking about her goals for learning weaponry! "Yeah, have you ever handled a naginata? They're pretty sweet for Staff Fighting too. Until you get inside their guard, but if the person knows what they're doing, it's not easy!" He laughs, remembering something. "Staff is good, and a lot more practical, actually. You can carry one of those around with you, if it doesn't actually look too menacing. California is weird that way, a lot more worried about how something looks or whether you can conceal it--I know, opposites, right?--than how dangerous it actually is...." Kaze muses. "As long as it doesn't have an edge to it, and is long enough that you can't fold it up or hide it, you should be good. Still a good idea to call it a 'walking stick' instead of a martial arts weapon though."


"Hey! What kind of bow do you use? Is it an old school long bow? Cause you can totally use it as a staff when it's not strung!" Kaze exclaims.


When Skye objects to a ninja on thematic grounds, Kaze chuckles, "Uh, Skye? I don't remember anything about agreeing to a 'Gothic Theme'? I mean, I am pretty sure now what I plan to wear, and it isn't Gothic at all."


Then Kaze feels like his head is spinning as Phoenyx responds to what he said. Sure. It's my being weak to get my feelings hurt, not something she should apologize for. Has she ever said she's sorry for anything to me? It feels like I was apologizing all the time. That whole 'love means never having to say your sorry' thing definitely only seemed to work one way with us. Wait, did she ever say she loved me? I think so...or maybe not, but maybe she apologized onces for not saying it? It's all a blur now. So...she's saying...not showing me respect, was...her way of showing she respected me? That's...messed up. Okay, maybe just...so not making any sense to me. How is it okay to be nice to the people you don't respect as much, and mean to the people you do? Man, if I did say what I really felt from the beginning, I think we would have never got together at all! Maybe we would have been better off? I can't do 'what if's; I can only do 'here and now'. I'm saying things up front now, instead of letting them get all crazy...anymore.


"Wasn't. It wasn't my style." Kaze corrects weakly, softly as he lets Phoenyx walk away. "I'm working on it. It's a work in progress." He says barely over a whisper, obviously to himself.

[Skye]

Looking towards Kaze.
"Well have you seen these staffs that can be made extendable so small you can fit it in your palm, it would be so nice to have. Also I am not that familiar with a Naginata but I do have seen some extendable spears that I would like to master as well and you know as well as I that some simple forces tricks can turn any weapon into a lethal killing one if that is what you need but a staff can also be used to just throw an opponent away."

Looking a bit shocked at the comment of her bow.
"No it's not the longest, it is a bit of and it is specially made to be suitable for me. In a pinch it might serve as a staff for me but it would be to bring a dishonor unto it that I would not like to do. I love my bow and prefer to mainly use it to shoot arrows with, as said in a cinch that will be another story but if I don't need to so will I don't do it."

Just shaking her head.
"Nahh I know but gothic was the theme of the evening and melting in serves for better accostumisation than to go against the theme wouldn't you say? I don't want her to feel like she doesn't belong after all.-"

A smile offered towards Phoenyx.
"I shall not speak a word of it to anyone else and good for you to get your emotions out. Now if you can handle it I would love for you to stay so you both can talk and hopefully clear the air some more for the both of you that might do you good if not see you at midnight."

Looking at Phoenyx to see her response and if she will stay or leave?

Shaking her head about the sex stuff though that she could not change, it served a purpose she quite liked. She needed it still, she would perhaps have to explain why to Phoenyx at some point.

[Kaze]

Kaze looks at Skye, trying to figure out if she just misunderstood what he was saying about concealable staffs being illegal or if she doesn't care. Okay, I am doing this thing now where I don't just vague it up and leave it hanging...


"Um, Skye, I am not trying to tell you what to do. I just am not sure if I was clear that here in California, it's illegal to carry a telescoping baton or probably spear too. I mean, I'm not judging; I carried a Katana around and that's massively illegal! Um, that didn't work out too well for me though, so I try not to do that anymore. I am actually thinking at some point about getting far enough with Prime that I can just make whatever weapons and armor I want on the spot. When I got here, a senior Arrow here named, 'Weavebreaker' could do that. I mean, I didn't see her do it, just heard about it."


Kaze forcefully does. Not. Smile. at Skye's shock and protectiveness over her bow at the idea of using it as a staff too! He nods along. Of course. Never.


He smiles openly at Skye's suggestion that Phoenyx would be more comfortable dressed in Goth style because everyone else would be. "Well, actually the one time I was there, people were dressed in all kinds of styles. I mean, yeah you're right, normally it is like some kind of Goth club, but for Halloween they seem to be pretty open minded about costume choice. I mean, I just wore my kung fu uniform, and they let me in." He says tactfully.


He holds his breath as Skye tries to get Phoenyx to stay, glad that someone is saying something like that, but recognizing the look of determination on Phoenyx's face, he's pretty sure it's a lost cause. He doesn't expect any chit chat when Phoenyx comes back for her shift either, though he is absolutely sure that she will do her duty and cover her shift. Yeah. That's going to leave a mark. I may never get anything but a cold shoulder from her again, not for a long time anyway.


He thinks, briefly about reassuring Skye to just be herself and not worry about the 'stop asking people if they want to have sex with you' thing, but decides that Skye seems secure enough that she doesn't need his reassurance.


Kaze takes a seat. After Phoenyx is truly gone, he says,"So. Uh. Skye. How did you meet your mentor, if you don't mind my asking? I'm really just kind of curious and making conversation; if I ask something you don't want to talk about, just tell me, and I'll totally drop the subject."

I PM'd with Xadun, and it sounded like okay to keep posting for Skye and Kaze, and Phoenyx may or may not rejoine the scene later.
